Frequently Asked Questions - 1221B-12 FRANKE

How do I clean the filters on my Franke 1221B-12 range hood?
The aluminum mesh filters are dishwasher-safe. Remove them by sliding the locking tab and pulling down. Clean every 2-3 months with warm soapy water or in the dishwasher. Dry thoroughly before reinstalling.
Can I use the range hood in recirculation mode?
The Franke 1221B-12 is designed for ducted installation only. It cannot be converted to recirculation mode. Ensure proper ducting to the outside for effective operation.
What type of light bulbs does the 1221B-12 use?
It uses 2 x 40W GU10 incandescent bulbs. Replace with the same type or LED equivalent with GU10 base. Ensure wattage does not exceed 40W each.
Why is my range hood making noise?
Noise can be due to loose mounting, unbalanced fan blades, or debris in the duct. Check that the hood is securely attached to the cabinet. Clean the fan blades and filter. If noise persists, contact Franke service.
How do I change the speed?
This model has a single-speed fan controlled by a rocker switch. For multi-speed models, refer to your specific manual. The 1221B-12 has one fan speed and one light switch.
What are the dimensions of the Franke 1221B-12?
Width: 30 inches (76.2 cm), Depth: 20 inches (50.8 cm), Height: 6.5 inches (16.5 cm). Always measure your space before installation.
Can I install the hood without a cabinet above?
No, this model is designed for under-cabinet installation. It must be mounted beneath a cabinet or a custom support structure that can bear its weight.
How often should I replace the charcoal filters?
The 1221B-12 does not use charcoal filters as it is ducted-only. If you need a recirculation hood, consider a different model.
Where can I find replacement parts?
Contact Franke customer service or visit their website. Common replacement parts include filters (part number FR-1221FIL) and bulbs (GU10). Use only genuine Franke parts.
What should I do if the fan stops working?
Check the circuit breaker and ensure the unit is plugged in. If the light works but fan does not, the switch or motor may be faulty. Disconnect power before inspecting. Contact a qualified technician.
