USE

Before using for the first time

Check that all the accessories are included and that the coffee maker is undamaged. Wash the pot and removable filter insert in hot water. Fill up with fresh water to the MAX mark, start the coffee maker and allow the water to run through without adding coffee. Pour out the water. Repeat several times.

Use

  1. Open the lid and fill the pot with cold fresh water. Do not fill above the MAX mark on the level indicator.
  2. Put the filter insert in the filter holder and then put a filter in the insert.
  3. Fill coffee in the filter. As a rule one level tablespoon per cup – according to personal taste. Close the lid.
  4. Put the pot on the hob.
  5. Plug in the plug.
  6. Press the power switch so that the status lamp goes on. The brewing starts.
  7. Wait a minute after the reservoir is empty before removing the pot to make sure all the coffee has run through the filter.
  8. You can keep the coffee hot on the hob for up to 40 minutes after the brewing. The hob switches off after 40 minutes. Serve freshly brewed coffee for the best taste.
NOTE: Newly brewed coffee is hot – risk of scalding.

  9. Switch off the coffee maker and pull out the plug after use.

NOTE:

  • The pot can only be removed for up to 30 seconds during the brewing without coffee dripping from the filter. If the pot is not replaced within 30 seconds the coffee will overflow in the filter.
  • The volume of brewed coffee is slightly less that the volume of the added water, because the coffee powder absorbs some of the water.

Tips for good coffee

  • For best results and taste it is important to keep the coffee maker clean. Clean the coffee maker regularly according to the instructions. Use only fresh, cold water in the coffee maker.
  • Store the coffee a dry and cool place. Close the packet properly, and store in the fridge for best shelf life.
  • For optimum coffee taste, use whole coffee beans and grind them just before brewing.
  • Never brew coffee more than once with the same coffee powder.
  • It is not advisable to warm up coffee that has gone cold – coffee tastes best immediately after brewing.

- Small drops of oil on the surface of the brewed coffee come from oils in the coffee. You may notice them after brewing very dark roast coffee.

MAINTENANCE

NOTE: Pull out the plug and allow the coffee maker to cool before cleaning.

  1. Wash all the loose parts in hot water and washing-up liquid after use.
  2. Wipe down the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth.
  3. Condensation can collect over the filter holder and drip down onto the hob during the brewing. To avoid this, wipe with a clean dry cloth after use.
  4. Carefully wipe the hob with a damp cloth. Never use abrasive detergents.
  5. Replace all the parts so that the coffee maker is ready to use again.

Descaling

Clean and descale the appliance regularly for best functionality. Use 30 ml of vinegar or special descaling tablets to one pot of cold water.

  1. Fill the reservoir to the MAX mark with the descaling solution.
  2. Put the pot on the hob.
  3. Check that the filter (without coffee) and the filter insert are properly in place.
  4. Start the coffee maker.
  5. Switch off the coffee maker when one cup of the descaling solution has run through.
  6. Wait 15 minutes and repeat steps 3–5.

  7. Start the coffee maker and let the rest of the solution trickle through until the reservoir is empty.

  8. Rinse by filling the reservoir with cold water and allowing it to trickle through. Repeat at least three times.
