The carburetor of your POULAN Pro PR4218 is factory preset and generally does not require any intervention. However, a few situations may warrant a check:

When to check the carburetor

Check the carburetor settings only if you notice:

The chain moves at idle (without throttle action)
The engine does not maintain idle or stalls frequently
The engine runs too fast at idle

Adjusting the idle speed (the only user adjustment)

The only adjustment you can make yourself is the idle speed screw (T), located above the primer bulb.

Turn the screw clockwise to increase engine speed
Turn the screw counterclockwise to decrease engine speed
Adjust gradually until the engine runs smoothly without the chain moving
