Frequently Asked Questions - LV-8300 CANON

How to connect a laptop to the LV-8300 projector?
Use the supplied VGA cable to connect the computer's VGA port to the projector's Analogue RGB Input 1 (Mini D-sub 15-pin) port. If your computer has a DVI output, use a DVI-D or DVI-I cable on the projector's DVI-I port. Make sure to select the appropriate source (RGB1 or RGB2) using the remote control or control panel.
What is the lamp life and how to replace it?
The 230W NSHA lamp has a life of 3000 hours in normal mode and up to 4000 hours in silent mode. To replace it, turn off the projector and unplug it. Wait for it to cool down. Open the maintenance cover on top of the projector, unscrew the old lamp, insert the new one (part number LV-LP31) and screw it back. Replace the cover. Replacement is possible without removing the ceiling mount.
How to activate automatic keystone correction?
Automatic vertical keystone correction is enabled by default. If needed, go to the Settings menu > Keystone Correction and select Auto. You can also manually adjust the correction using the projector buttons or remote control.
How to use the Screen Colour Correction function?
Go to the Settings menu > Screen Colour Correction. Choose from the 9 modes (e.g., Greenboard, Whiteboard, Light Yellow, Sky Blue) according to the projection surface. Enable the correction to improve color reproduction on colored walls or whiteboards.
How to connect the projector to an Ethernet network?
Connect an RJ-45 cable between the projector (RJ-45 port) and your network. Via the menu, configure the IP address (DHCP or manual). You will then be able to control the projector remotely (source switching, standby) and receive email alerts at the end of lamp life.
How to adjust the volume of the built-in speaker?
Use the Volume +/- buttons on the remote control or control panel. You can also connect an external speaker to the audio output (3.5 mm jack) – the output level varies with the volume setting.
What is the projection distance for a 100-inch image?
For a 100-inch screen (16:10 format, i.e., 215 x 134 cm), the projection distance is between 2.9 m (max zoom) and 3.5 m (min zoom). Refer to the projection distance table in the manual for other screen sizes.
How to clean the projector's air filter?
The air filter is located on the side of the projector. Turn off the device and unplug it. Remove the filter, clean it with a vacuum cleaner or with warm soapy water (dry it thoroughly before reinstalling). Replace it correctly. Regular cleaning (every 100 hours of use) ensures proper ventilation.
The projector displays 'No Signal' – what to do?
Check that the source (computer, DVD player) is turned on and the cable is properly connected. Press the Source button on the remote control to switch between inputs (RGB1, RGB2, S-Video, Composite). If using a DVI-VGA adapter, ensure it is correctly plugged in. Restart the computer if necessary.
How to switch between display modes (Standard, Presentation, Cinema...)?
Press the Image Mode button on the remote control to cycle through the modes: Standard, Presentation, Cinema, Video, sRGB. You can also access these settings via the Settings menu > Image Mode. Each mode optimizes brightness, contrast, and color balance for different content.

CANON TECHNOLOGY FOR OUTSTANDING IMAGE QUALITY.

Outstanding image quality comes as standard across the LV range. Most models feature native XGA, while the LV-8300 has WXGA resolution for outstanding image quality. A Canon 1.2x wide-angle zoom lens produces flawless, large-size images in even the smallest rooms. Canon's superior lens technology uses twin aspherical elements to ensure clear, distortion-free projection.

HIGHLY RELIABLE AND SIMPLE TO MAINTAIN.

Each LV projector can be relied upon to provide powerful projection. Lamp changes are minimised, thanks to a long 3000 hour lamp life in Normal Mode. For even lower running costs, lamp life can be increased to a maximum of 4000 hours, with consistent use of Quiet Mode. In addition, lamp replacement is now quicker and easier than ever. The ingenious body design incorporates a top-mounted maintenance cover, enabling access to the lamp without the need to first uninstall the unit from its ceiling bracket. This makes routine maintenance much more straightforward.

COMPLETE CONVENIENCE FOR PRESENTERS.

With an 8 second start-up time, there's no waiting around for LV projectors to power up. A 30 second power-down time means that each projector can be quickly packed up and moved. An infra-red remote control is included, enabling convenient operation.

USER FRIENDLY DESIGN.

A soft carrying case and elegant built-in carrying handle are included with each projector, ensuring it is kept safe in transit.

If there is no conventional white projection screen available, Screen Colour Correction can help to recreate natural-looking images when projecting onto coloured surfaces. All four models are equipped with nine screen Colour Correction modes, including 'Greenboard' and new 'Whiteboard' options. While both of these settings are especially useful in teaching environments, the latter helps to eliminate 'hotspots' when projecting onto a whiteboard, ensuring natural colours and making images easier on the eye. Settings for coloured walls such as 'Light Yellow' and 'Sky Blue' are also included for maximum flexibility.
