HINTS FOR GREAT-TASTING COFFEE
- A clean coffee maker is essential for making great-tasting coffee. Regularly clean the coffee maker as specified in the "CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE" section.
- Always use fresh tap water in brewing coffee.
- Store unused ground coffee in a cool, dry place. After opening a package of ground coffee, store it in an airtight container to maintain its freshness.
- For the best coffee taste, buy whole coffee beans and finely grind them just before brewing.
- Do not reuse ground coffee since this will greatly reduce the coffee flavor.
- Reheating coffee is not recommended as coffee is at its peak flavor after brewing.
- Clean the coffee maker when over-extraction caused oiliness. Small oil droplets on the surface of brewed, black coffee are due to the extraction of oil from the ground coffee.
- Oiliness may occur more frequently if heavily roasted coffees are used.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
How to clean the Water Tank:
- Pour water on the water tank with one pint vinegar.
- Put a mug under the spout.
-
Allow the vinegar inside the water tank for at least 30 minutes.
-
Pour water on the water tank and repeat the brewing cycle.
- Switch OFF.
NOTE: Do not use damp cloth to clean the water tank, this will leave some residue of lint and may clog your coffee maker, simply rinse with fresh tap water periodically.
Removing Mineral Deposits on the Water Tank
To keep your coffee maker operating efficiently, periodically clean mineral deposits left by the water according to the water quality in your area and the frequency of use, we recommend removing mineral deposits as follows:
- Fill the tank with water and de-scaling solution to the max level as indicated on water gauge (the scale of water and solution is 4:1; the detail refers to the instruction of the solution. Please use "household solution"; you may also use the citric acid instead of the solution (the one hundred parts of water and three parts of citric acid).
- Put a mug under the spout.
- Make sure that the filter (without ground coffee) and filter basket holder are assembled properly.
- Switch the unit on and allow it to process the de-scaling solution.
