How do I set up the Tourmax SXA28P line array?

Follow the quick setup: ensure all items are present, read safety booklet, study connection diagram, turn all devices off and set faders to zero, connect sound sources to amplifier inputs, connect amplifier outputs to speakers, plug into power, and power on in order: sound sources → mixer → amplifier → speakers. Power off in reverse.

What is the High Frequency Configurator (HFC)?

The HFC adjusts the sound pressure level for the audience. It works only in passive mode. The +3 dB position is for distant audiences (e.g., when using in an array), and 0 dB for near-field coverage.

How many SXA28P speakers can be suspended using the FB-1 array frame?

According to the maximum array configurations table, up to 6 SXA28P speakers can be suspended as satellites, with 1 SXA18P subwoofer allowed for arrays of 2-4 satellites. For 5 or 6 satellites, no subwoofer is allowed. Always check local regulations.

What is the difference between passive and bi-amp mode?

In passive mode, the internal crossover sends the full-range signal to all transducers. In bi-amp mode, separate amplifier channels are used for low and high frequencies, requiring an external crossover and more amplifier channels. The speaker has separate power ratings for each mode.

Can I use the SXA28P on a pole?

Yes, the speaker has a dual 36 mm pole socket. Do not stack more than two SXA28P speakers on a pole. Ensure they are locked with original hardware.

What kind of cables do I need?

Speakon NL4-type cables are required for input and thru connections. For bi-amp operation, a 4-conductor NL4 cable is needed to separate low and high signals.

How do I clean and maintain the SXA28P?

Use a dry cloth to clean the enclosure. Avoid solvents or abrasive cleaners. Check all hardware periodically for tightness. Store in a dry, dust-free environment.

What is the warranty information?

Can I use the SXA28P as a standalone speaker without subwoofers?

Yes, it can be used standalone. The frequency response extends down to 65 Hz (-10 dB), but for full-range audio, adding subwoofers like the SXA18P is recommended.

What is the maximum SPL of the SXA28P?

In passive mode, the maximum peak SPL is 125 dB at 1 meter, with continuous SPL of 122 dB. The system sensitivity is 97 dB SPL (1 W @ 1 m) in passive mode.

QUICK SETUP

1. Make sure all items listed in the BOX CONTENTS section are included in the box.
2. READ SAFETY & WARRANTY INFORMATION BOOKLET BEFORE USING THE PRODUCT.
3. Study the connection diagram in this guide.
4. Place all devices in an appropriate position for operation.
5. Make sure all devices are turned off and all faders and gain knobs are set to "zero."
6. Connect all sound sources' outputs to amplifier inputs as indicated in the diagram.
7. Connect the amplifier outputs to speakers.
8. Plug all devices into an appropriate power source.
9. Switch everything on in the following order:

• Sound sources (i.e. microphones, turntables, CD players, etc.)
- Mixer
- Amplifier
- Speakers

1. High Frequency Configurator (HFC)- Defines the best sound pressure level in front of the audience. The HFC only works in Passive mode. The +3 dB position is normally set when the SXA28P is used in an array to cover a distant audience. The 0dB is normally used for covering the nearest audience.

Medium Array Configuration

Below is an example of applying the HFC to four SXA28P's in an array. In this particular configuration, the HFC on the top speaker is set at +3 dB, and the bottom speaker 0 dB.

Small Array Configuration

This is an example of the HFC application with two SXA28P's in a small array, with the top speaker set at +3 dB and the bottom speaker at 0 dB. Do not stack more than two SXA28P speakers on the pole.

Be sure to lock the two speaker cabinets with the original hardware.

Array Frame

The following table defines the maximum number of speakers that may be suspended using the FB-1 array frame. A security design factor is maintained for the speaker configurations indicated in the table.

Suspension Safety Warning

• Never exceed the maximum recommended speaker cabinet listed on the table.
- Research and understand the local regulation and requirements of the country where you intend to install the line array. The correct assembly of all associated hardware is required for a safe suspension system.
- Two point suspension with uniform loading of each lifting location is recommended when using Array Frame FB-1

Array Frame Connection

The FB-1 frame is connected to SXA-HD-L and SXA-HD-R with ALTO quick release pins.

Any time two or more SXA28P and SXA18P are arrayed together, they must be mechanically secured to each other. See the diagram below for details.
