Frequently Asked Questions - JKD102SPD HAGER

What does the JKD102SPD protect against?
It protects electrical installations against overvoltage surges caused by lightning or switching operations.
Is the JKD102SPD suitable for residential use?
Yes, it is designed for residential and light commercial applications, typically installed in distribution boards.
How do I know if the device is working?
Check the mechanical indicator: green means OK, red means the protection element is damaged and needs replacement.
Can I install it myself?
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician following local regulations and the user manual.
What does Type 2 SPD mean?
Type 2 SPDs are permanent overvoltage protectors installed on sub-distribution boards to protect connected equipment.
What is the expected lifespan?
Lifespan depends on surge frequency; indicator shows end of life. Typically 5-10 years under normal conditions.
Does it protect against direct lightning strikes?
No, it protects against induced surges and indirect strikes. For direct strikes, a Type 1 SPD is required.
How many modules does it occupy on a DIN rail?
It occupies 2 modules (36 mm width) on a standard DIN rail.
What should I do if the indicator is red?
