Frequently Asked Questions - BK30 BLACK & DECKER

How do I replace the batteries in the Black & Decker BK30 scale?
Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the scale. Remove old batteries and insert two new AAA batteries following the polarity markings. Close the compartment securely.
Why does my scale display 'EEEE'?
The 'EEEE' error typically indicates an overload. Remove the weight immediately. The maximum capacity is 5 kg (11 lbs).
Can I weigh liquids directly on the scale?
Yes, but only use a container. The scale has a tare function: place the empty container on the scale, press the tare button to zero, then add the liquid. Avoid spilling on the scale.
How do I switch between weight units?
Press the UNIT button on the front of the scale to cycle through g, kg, lb, oz, ml, and fl.oz (water/milk). The selected unit will appear on the display.
Why does the scale turn off automatically?
The scale has an auto-off function to save battery. It will automatically turn off after approximately 2 minutes of no activity. Press the ON button to restart.
How do I clean the BK30 scale?
Use a soft damp cloth to wipe the glass surface and plastic parts. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the scale in water, as it may damage the electronics.
Is the scale accurate?
The Black & Decker BK30 has a graduation of 1 gram, providing reliable measurements for most kitchen tasks. For best results, place the scale on a flat, hard surface and avoid using near mobile phones or other electronic devices.
What should I do if the display shows 'Lo'?
The 'Lo' indicates low battery. Replace the AAA batteries with fresh ones. If the problem persists, check battery contacts for corrosion.
Can I use the scale to weigh food directly?
Yes, the platform is made of tempered glass and is food-safe. For hygiene, you can also place a sheet of wax paper or a plate on the scale using the tare function.
How do I reset or calibrate the scale?
The BK30 does not require user calibration. If the scale seems inaccurate, ensure it is on a flat surface, press the tare button to zero, and try again. If issues continue, replace batteries or contact Black & Decker support.
