Intended use
Your Black & Decker scale has been designed for weighing the human body. This product is intended for household use only.
Safety instructions
Warning! When using battery-powered appliances, basic safety precautions, including the following, should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, leaking batteries, personal injury and material damage.

◆The intended use is described in this manual. The use of any accessory or attachment or the performance of any operation with this appliance other than those recommended in this instruction manual may present a risk of material damage.

Using the appliance
◆Do not use the appliance outdoors.
◆Always protect the appliance from water or excessive humidity.
◆Do not use the appliance at ambient temperatures below 10 °C or above 30 °C.
◆Do not use the appliance on an uneven surface.
◆Do not use the appliance if your feet are wet.
◆Do not step on the edge of the appliance.
◆Do not overload the appliance.
Safety of others
◆Do not allow children or any person unfamiliar with these instructions use the appliance.
After use
◆Remove the batteries when the appliance is not going to be used for a longer period of time.
When not in use, the appliance should be stored in a dry place. Children should not have access to stored appliances.

Before use, check the appliance for damaged or defective parts. Check for breakage of parts and any other conditions that may affect its operation.

Electrical safety

Additional safety instructions for non-rechargeable batteries
◆Never attempt to open for any reason.
◆Do not store in locations where the temperature may exceed 40 °C.
- When disposing of batteries, follow the instructions given in the section "Protecting the environment". Do not incinerate the batteries.
◆Under extreme conditions, battery leakage may occur. When you notice liquid on the batteries, proceed as follows:
- Carefully wipe the liquid off using a cloth. Avoid skin contact.

Fitting the batteries into the appliance
◆Remove the battery cover (7).
◆Insert the batteries into the appliance in the orientation as shown.
◆Refit the cover and let it click into place.
Fitting the batteries into the remote control
In order to fit the batteries, the unit must be removed from the appliance.
◆Remove the battery cover (5).
◆Insert the batteries into the appliance in the orientation as shown.
◆Refit the cover and let it click into place.

Removing
◆Slide the unit off the appliance in the direction as shown.
Re-fitting
◆Hold the unit in front of the appliance, aligning the rails (8) with the slots (9).
◆Slide the unit onto de rails.
Use
◆Place the appliance on a flat surface.
◆Ensure the appliance is dry before stepping onto it.
Setting personal data (fig. C & D)
The memory can store personal data for up to 12 persons.
◆Switch the appliance on.
◆Wait for the message (10) to appear blinking on the screen (4).
◆Select a program number by pressing the adjustment buttons (2).
◆Confirm the selection by pressing the set button (3).
◆Enter the data in the menus appearing in the order as follows.
Selecting the measurement system
The appliance can show the results both in the metric (11) and the imperial (12) system.
◆Enter the measurement system by pressing the buttons (2) as required.
◆Store the data by pressing the set button (3).
Selecting the gender
The screen will display the gender by a female (13) or a male (14) symbol.
◆Enter the gender by pressing the buttons (2) as required.
◆Store the data by pressing the set button (3).
Setting the height
The screen will show the data in in centimeters (15).
◆Enter the height by pressing the buttons (2) as required.
◆Store the data by pressing the set button (3).
Setting the age
The screen will show the data in years of age (16). The screen will display the child mode symbol (17) if the selected age is 12 or below.
◆Enter the age by pressing the buttons (2) as required.
◆Store the data by pressing the set button (3).
Storing the data
After the program number has stopped blinking and remains on, the data has been stored in the memory.
◆If necessary, select a following program number and repeat the steps to enter the data for the next person.
Switching on and off
Switching on
◆Press the on/off button (1) on the remote control.
When the remote control is fitted, the appliance is activated automatically. When the remote control is removed, the appliance must be activated by tapping the centre of the scale with one foot.
Auto switch-off
◆After approximately 10 seconds of inactivity, the screen will go blank.
Measuring the weight (fig. C)
◆Switch the appliance on by pressing the on/off button (1) twice. The message (19) appears on the screen (4).
◆Tap the centre of the scale with one foot to activate the appliance. The message (20) appears on the screen (1).
◆Step on the appliance. The digits on the screen start blinking.
◆The result appears on the screen.
Measuring the body fat and water percentage (fig. C, D & E)
These measurements are an indication of your level of fitness and your physical health. Consult your physician or a qualified dietician for appropriate advice regarding further action.
The measurements are performed using the technique of BIA, a highly reliable method for analyzing the composition of the human body. BIA, short for bioelectrical impedance analysis, measures the resistance to the flow of a small, harmless low-level electrical current using the built-in electrodes. Personal data like gender, height and age, form the key factors to the analysis results processed by the software program.
When using this application, we recommend that you take regular measurements, always around the same time of day and under the same conditions.
Refer to the tables below for an indicative interpretation of the analysis results.
Note:
– The application only works if you are barefoot.
- Excessive drinking or eating, exercising, medical conditions, use of medication, the female menstrual cycle etc., have an effect on the measurement results.
- Warning! This application must not be used by pregnant women and people with a cardiac pacemaker or any other medical device implanted in their body.
◆Remove the remote control from the appliance.
◆Switch the unit on.
◆Wait for the message (10) to appear blinking on the screen (4).
◆Select the program number of your personal data.

◆Tap the centre of the scale with one foot to activate the appliance. The red indicator (6) lights up.
◆Wait for the message (22) to appear on the screen (1).
◆Re-fit the remote control or place it on a location within arm's reach and within transmitting range for remote interaction with the appliance.
◆Step on the appliance. The digits on the screen start blinking.
◆The weight (23) appears on the screen.
◆The result for body fat percentage (24) appears on the screen.
◆The result for body water percentage (25) appears on the screen.
Athlete mode
People of 15-50 years of age who train intensively for more than 12 hours a week and who have a resting heart rate of approximately 60 beats per minute or less, have these measurements performed more accurately in the athlete mode. The athlete mode can be selected prior to performing a measurement.
◆Wait for the message (21) to appear on the screen (4).
◆Press and hold the 'UP' adjustment button (2) for 1 second. The athlete mode symbol (26) appears on the screen.

The screen will display an error warning (27) if an error during measurement has occurred.
Changing the measurement system (fig. D & E)
The measurement system can be changed prior to performing a measurement.
◆Wait for the message (21) to appear on the screen (4).
◆Press and hold the set button (3) for 1 second. The change of measurement system (11 or 12) appears on the screen.
Overload indicator (fig. F)
The screen will display an overload warning (28) if the weight exceeds the maximum capacity.
- Immediately remove the weight from the appliance to prevent damage.
Maintenance
Warning! Before cleaning or maintenance make sure the appliance is switched off.
◆Clean the appliance using only mild soap and a damp cloth. Do not use any abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.
◆Periodically open the battery compartment and check the batteries for corrosion.
Warning! Do not immerse any part of the appliance in water or any other liquid.
Low battery indicator (fig. F)
The LCD screen will display a low battery warning (29) when the battery of the remote control is nearly empty. The LCD screen will display a low battery warning (30) when the battery of the appliance is nearly empty.
◆Replace the battery.
Protecting the environment

Separate collection. This product must not be disposed of with normal household waste.
Should you find one day that your Black & Decker product needs replacement, or if it is of no further use to you, do not dispose of it with household waste. Make this product available for separate collection.

Separate collection of used products and packaging allows materials to be recycled and used again. Re-use of recycled materials helps prevent environmental pollution and reduces the demand for raw materials.
Local regulations may provide for separate collection of electrical products from the household, at municipal waste sites or by the retailer when you purchase a new product.
Black & Decker provides a facility for the collection and recycling of Black & Decker products once they have reached the end of their working life. To take advantage of this service please return your product to any authorised repair agent who will collect them on our behalf.

Batteries
