Frequently Asked Questions - CF4005 SOLAC

How to use the CF4005 coffee maker for the first time?
Before first use, run the coffee maker 2 to 3 times with only cold water to clean the system. Fill the tank with cold water, place the filter holder without coffee and start a cycle.
Why does my coffee overflow from the filter holder?
If coffee overflows, you have put too much ground coffee. Reduce the amount: use a level measuring scoop per cup. Also check that the permanent or paper filter is properly placed.
How to remove and replace the thermal carafe lid?
To remove the lid, turn it to the right until the arrow aligns with 'OPEN' then pull up. To put it back, align the arrow with 'OPEN', turn to the right until 'CLOSE'.
Can I use paper filters with the permanent filter?
No, use either the permanent filter or a paper filter, not both at the same time. If using a paper filter, remove the permanent filter.
What to do if the coffee maker does not turn on?
Check that the switch is in position 'I' and the indicator light is on. Make sure the outlet works and the cord is not damaged. If the problem persists, contact an authorized technical service.
How to clean the thermal carafe?
Wash the carafe and its lid with soapy water, rinse thoroughly. Do not put them in the dishwasher. Do not immerse the coffee maker itself.
How often to descale the coffee maker?
Descale the coffee maker every 6 months or so, or more often if water is hard. Use a mixture of equal parts water and vinegar, run the mixture through, then two cycles with fresh water.
Can I remove the carafe during coffee brewing?
Yes, the anti-drip system prevents coffee from dripping, but do not remove the carafe for too long as the water in the filter holder may overflow.
How to serve coffee with the thermal carafe?
It is not necessary to remove the lid. Press the lid tab down to pour the coffee, then release to close and keep the coffee hot.
What to do if the power cord is damaged?
Do not use the appliance. Take it to an authorized technical service for replacement, as special tools are required.

  • Before using the coffee maker for the first time, we recommend that you let it work a couple of times with nothing but water, in order to completely clean out the whole system.
  • Use only cold water when filling the tank.
  • VERY IMPORTANT: Never place the appliance in water.
  • Keep out of the reach of children.
  • Do not allow the power cord to hang off the edge of the table or work surface or to come into contact with hot surfaces.
  • Do not touch the hot surfaces. Use the handle or the switch.
  • To disconnect the coffee maker, place the switch in the "O" position and unplug the appliance.
  • The hotplate remains hot as long as the coffee maker is switched on Avoid touching it, and take care to prevent the cord from touching it also.
  • If you use the permanent filter, do not use the paper filter at the same time. If you want to use a paper filter, remove the permanent filter and use the paper filter instead.

MAIN COMPONENTS

  1. Lid
  2. Water tank.
  3. Filter holder
  4. Permanent filter
  5. Jug lid
  6. Thermos jug
  7. Handle

  8. Hotplate to keep the coffee hot

  9. ON/OFF switch with pilot light
  10. Coffee scoop

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

  • Lift up the lid (1) and pour water into the water tank (2) according to the number of cups you want to make.
  • Place the filter holder (3) in the coffee maker, checking that it fits correctly with the tab on the right (fig.1), then place the permanent filter (4) or a paper filter and add ground coffee to the filter (4). Recommended dose: 1 coffee scoop per cup.
  • Close the lid again.
  • NOTE: You should preheat the thermos jug before starting to make coffee. To do so, wash the inside with hot water. This will keep the coffee hot for longer. In order for the coffee to stay hot for longer, we recommend making at least half a jug of coffee each time.
    • To remove the lid from the jug, turn it to the right until the arrow on the jug matches the OPEN marking (fig.2). Then pull upwards.
  • To place the lid on the jug, align the arrow on the lid with the OPEN marking and turn it to the right until it matches the CLOSE marking (fig.3).
  • Make sure the lid of the jug is correctly in place and place the jug (6) on the hotplate (8) as shown in figure 4.
  • Plug the coffee maker into the mains.
  • Turn the switch (7) to the on position (I). The pilot light will come on.
  • You can remove the jug during the coffee-dripping process, since the automatic antidrip system will prevent it from dripping. Be careful if you remove the jug for too long, since the water in the filter holder can overflow.
  • If you find that the coffee overflowed from the coffee holder at the end of the process, use a smaller amount of coffee the next time.
  • You do not need to remove the thermos jug lid to serve the coffee, simply press down on the tab on the lid (fig.5). After serving the coffee, release the tab so that the coffee is kept hot inside the thermos jug (6).
  • If you did not drink all the coffee, you can leave the jug on the hotplate (8) with the coffee maker switched on or off, since the thermos jug will keep the coffee hot.

- Wash the thermos jug and its lid with soapy water and rinse with plenty of water. Never wash them in the dishwasher.
