INNHOLDET I FORPAKNINGEN
VEDLIKEHOLD AV SVERD OG SAGKJEDE
- Store the instructions near the chainsaw.
- Follow the safety instructions to avoid accidents, which can lead to serious personal injury or death.
- Follow the safety instructions to avoid damaging the product.
- Familiarise yourself with the controls on the saw so that you can use it safely.
• Always follow all the local safety regulations when using the chainsaw. - Mistakes when handling the saw can lead to serious personal injury.
-
Even when correctly used there are risks when using the saw. The following risks are associated with this type of saw:
-
Contact with the unprotected saw chain.
– Unexpected sudden movement of the bar. - Hearing impairment if ear protection is not used.
– Inhalation of dangerous particles or exhaust from the engine.
– Skin contact with petrol.
NOISE
In normal conditions chainsaw users can be exposed to noise levels of 80 dB(A) or more.
- It is not possible to avoid exposure to some noise from the chainsaw.
- Noisy work should be limited to specific periods.
- Rest at regular intervals and if necessary reduce working hours to a minimum.
- The user must have ear protection, which also others in the vicinity can need to use.
WARNING!
Risk of hearing impairment. Wear ear protection.
VIBRATION
- The actual vibration value when using the saw can deviate from the specified value in the instructions. This can be a result of the following factors:
- Whether the saw is used in the correct manner.
- If the sawing is done correctly and in suitable material.
- If the saw is used in accordance with the instructions.
- If the chain is sufficiently sharp.
– If the handles are correctly fitted.
- If you experience discomfort, or notice that your skin becomes discoloured after using the saw, stop using it.
- Rest at regular intervals.
WARNING!
Failure to take sufficiently long and frequent breaks can result in vibration injuries.
SAFE USE
- Always be very careful when handling fuel. Always wipe up spillage, and move the chainsaw at least three metres away from the fuelling point before starting it.
- There must be no sources of heat (i.e. no smoking, naked flames or tools that can emit sparks) near the place where fuel is mixed, replenished, or stored.
- Smoking is absolutely prohibited when handling fuel and when using the chainsaw.
- Keep unauthorised persons away from the
EN
chainsaw when starting it, or using it. Keep onlookers and pets away from the work area. Other people should be at a distance of least 10 metres when starting and using the saw.
- Do not start sawing until the workplace has been vacated, you have a good footing, and have planned where to retreat when the tree beings to fall.
• Always hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands when it is running. Keep a firm grip round both handles.
- Keep at a safe distance from the chain when the saw is running. Make sure that the chain is not touching anything before starting the saw.
- When carrying the chainsaw it should be switched off, and the muffler turned away from the body.
- Always check the chain before use for worn, loose or altered parts. Never use the chainsaw if it is damaged, incorrectly adjusted, or if it has not been completely and safely assembled. Make sure that the chain stops moving as soon as you release the throttle.
- All servicing of this chainsaw, with the exception of what is specified in these instructions, should be carried out by an authorised service centre (incorrect servicing, especially to the flywheel, can lead to serious accidents and damage the saw).
• Always switch off the saw before putting it down on the ground.
- Be very careful when sawing bushes and brushwood because they can fasten in the chain and whip you, or cause you to lose your balance.
- When sawing a branch under tension,
be careful to avoid the branch hitting you when it is completely sawn off.
- Keep handles clean, dry and free from oil and fuel.
- Watch out for the risk of kickback. If the chain at the top of the bar comes into contact with an object the whole saw can be quickly thrown up with great force. This is kickback, and it can cause you to completely lose control of the saw.
- When transporting the chainsaw always put the guard on the bar.
- Put the saw in a safe position in the transport so that no fuel can leak out and to prevent the actual saw being damaged.
BEFORE USE
- Never use the chainsaw if you are tired, ill, upset or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
- Only use the chainsaw in well-ventilated areas. Never start or run the chainsaw indoors. The exhaust contains highly dangerous carbon monoxide.
- Never saw in strong wind, bad weather, poor visibility, or when it is very hot or cold. Always check if there are any dead branches on the tree that can fall down during the felling.
- Wear non-slip safety shoes, tightly fitting clothes, ear protection, safety glasses and a helmet. Wear vibration damping safety gloves.
- The following precautions are recommended to reduce the risk of bodily injury. The observance of these precautions cannot fully guarantee your safety.
- Keep your body warm, especially your head, throat, feet, ankles, hands and
wrists.
- Stimulate the circulation of blood by taking regular breaks to stretch your arms
- Avoid smoking.
- Keep the chain sharp and make sure that the whole saw is in good condition. If the chain is blunt the sawing takes longer, and the body is exposed to heavier vibrations by pressing a blunt chain against the tree. A saw with loose parts or a damaged/worn vibration damper also vibrates more.
- Do not use the saw for excessively long periods all the time.
PRECAUTIONS TO PREVENT KICKBACK
- Kickback can occur when the top of the chain touches an object, or if the bar fastens in the wood (often as a result of a tight cut). In the worst case kickback can cause the bar to be suddenly thrown up and backwards towards the user. If the chain fastens near the tip of the bar this can cause it to be suddenly and forcibly pressed backwards towards the user. Both these events can cause you to completely lose control of the saw, which can result in serious personal injury.
- Do not put blind trust in the safety devices built into the saw. A person using a chainsaw must take several precautions to avoid accidents:
- If you learn how kickback happens you can avoid being taken unawares when it does happen. It is often the element of surprise that causes accidents.
- Hold the saw firmly with both hands. Always keep the right hand on the back handle, and the left hand on the front handle, as soon as the saw starts. Always keep a firm grip round the handles and use all your fingers. A firm grip helps you to handle kickback and to keep the saw under control. Never release your grip.
- Check that the workplace is unobstructed. Make sure the tip of the bar cannot come into contact with hidden branches or other obstructions when working.
- Saw at full throttle.
— Never hold the saw too far in front of you, and never above shoulder height.
– Follow the instructions of the manufacturer for sharpening and looking after the saw chain. - Only use replacement bars and chains in accordance with the recommendations of the manufacturer.

SAWING
WARNING!
- Read all the instructions and safety instructions and familiarise yourself with the controls on the chainsaw and how to use them.
- Failure to follow all the instructions and safety instructions can result in death, personal injury and/or material damage.
- The chainsaw is intended for sawing wood. Never attempt to saw other materials, this increases the risk of kickback and/or vibration and can result in the risk of death, personal injury and/or material damage. Do not use the chainsaw to bend, lift or move objects, or to split. Never mount the chainsaw on a stand. Never connect equipment to power outlets not recommended by the manufacturer.
- Do not force the chainsaw. Run the saw at full throttle and apply a light pressure.
EN
- Always check before use that the chainsaw is undamaged. If the chainsaw is dropped or knocks into something, switch off and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped to check if it is damaged.
- Do not run the saw at high revs if the chain has fastened in the cut, this can damage the clutch. Do not attempt to pull the chain loose if it has fastened in the cut. Open the cut with a wedge or lever to release the chain.
FIG. 15
Watch out for kickback
The chainsaw has a kickback guard that applies the chain brake and stops the chain in the event of kickback.
• Always check before use that the kickback guard is working, by running the saw at full throttle for a few seconds and then pushing the kickback guard forwards.
- The chain should stop immediately, even when the saw is running at full throttle. If the chain does not stop immediately, or does not stop at all, the brake band and clutch drum must be replaced.
- Never use the chainsaw if the kickback guard and chain brake are not working properly. Always check that the kickback guard is working properly before using the chainsaw.
• Make sure that the chain is sharp, to reduce the risk of kickback.
- Never remove or bypass any of the safety devices on the chainsaw – risk of death and/or serious personal injury as a result of kickback. Inadequate maintenance and incorrect assembly of the bar or chain increases the risk of kickback.
FIG. 16
Felling trees
- Study the direction of the wind, the angle of the tree, the centre of gravity of the crown and other factors. Take into consideration the clearing work after the felling.
- Clear the work area and plan and clear a retreat before the felling starts.
- Make a notch cut through about 1/3 of the diameter of the trunk, on the side in which the tree is to fall.
- Saw the main cut from the other side of the tree, just above the bottom of the notch cut.

FIG. 17
WARNING!
Warn everyone in the area before starting the felling.
CUTTING AND LIMBING
- Check the flexural strain in the log or branch before sawing.
• Always do the last cut from the uncompressed side to avoid getting the bar pinched.
WARNING!
- Always maintain a firm footing and good balance, and check that the felled tree is stable.
- Watch out for sawn off parts of logs that can roll.
- Read all the safety instructions concerning kickback before use.
Sawing logs on the ground
Saw halfway through the log, turn the log and saw from the opposite side.
Sawing logs on supports
- In area A in the diagram, saw a third of the thickness of the log from underneath and up, and the rest from above.
- In area B in the diagram, saw a third of the thickness of the log from above and down, and the rest from underneath.
FIG. 18
Limbing of felled trees
Check the flexural strain in the branches first. Make a shallow cut from the compressed side first, to prevent the branch tearing. Cut off the branch from the opposite side.
FIG. 19
WARNING!
Branches under tension can spring away when they are cut.
Trimming
First cut from underneath, and then from above.
WARNING!
- Never use the chainsaw from a ladder, tree or other unstable place. Always maintain a firm footing and good balance.
- Do not overreach.
- Never saw above shoulder height.
- Always handle the chainsaw with both hands.
FIG. 20
- When sawing, always apply the bumper spike against the wood before starting
to saw. Press the bumper spike against the log by pressing on the back handle. Press the front handle in the direction of the cut. Keep the bumper spike pressed against the wood to guide the bar. The bumper spike improves safety, reduces vibrations, and means that it takes less effort to cut logs and thick branches.
- If there is an obstacle between the chainsaw and what is to be sawn, switch off the chainsaw, wait until all moving parts have completely stopped and put down the chainsaw. Wear safety gloves and remove the obstacle. If the chain needs to be removed, follow the relevant instructions. Always test the chainsaw after cleaning, adjusting, filing and/or replacing the chain. If the chainsaw vibrates or makes an abnormal noise, have it checked and repaired before use.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING!
- Switch off the chainsaw, wait until all moving parts have completely stopped and the saw to cool before cleaning, inspection, maintenance and/or repairs. Disconnect the spark plug cable to prevent the chainsaw from starting.
- Follow the maintenance instructions for best functionality and useful life. Incorrect maintenance can result in serious personal injury and/or material damage.
