Frequently Asked Questions - inMotion Slim IM500V4 ALTEC LANSING

Which iPod/iPhone models are compatible with the Altec Lansing inMotion Slim IM500V4?
The IM500V4 supports all iPods and iPhones with the classic 30-pin connector. For iPhone models, ensure iOS version is compatible. Later devices with Lightning connector require an adapter.
Can I use the docking station without an iPod/iPhone for just the alarm clock?
Yes, the alarm clock and display function independently. You can set the alarm to buzzer mode and use it as a standard alarm clock without a device docked.
How do I set the time on the IM500V4?
The time can be set automatically when an iPhone is docked (if allowed via settings), or manually by pressing the Time Set button and using the +/- buttons to adjust hours and minutes.
What power options are available? Can I use batteries?
The unit runs on the included AC adapter. For battery backup (to retain clock/alarm settings during power loss), insert 4 AAA batteries (not included). Batteries do not power the speakers.
How do I clean the docking station?
Unplug the unit and wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use any liquids, aerosol cleaners, or abrasive materials that could damage the surface.
The remote control is not working. What should I do?
First, replace the coin cell battery (CR2032) in the remote. Ensure the remote is pointed at the front IR sensor. If still not responding, try resetting the unit by unplugging it for 30 seconds.
Can I play music from a non-Apple device through this speaker?
Yes, use the 3.5mm auxiliary input on the back of the unit. Any audio device with a headphone jack can be connected via a standard aux cable.
Why is the display very dim or not showing anything?
Check that the unit is plugged in and the AC adapter is securely connected. If using battery backup, ensure batteries are fresh. Adjust display brightness using the Dimmer button.
How do I reset the docking station to factory settings?
Unplug the AC adapter and remove batteries (if any). Wait 30 seconds, then reconnect power. This clears all settings and resets the clock and alarm.
Where can I find a replacement AC adapter or remote control?
Contact Altec Lansing customer support or visit the official website for spare parts. Use only the specified adapter (output: 5V DC, 1A) to avoid damage.
