Listed below are some of the important issues and important warnings which you need to be aware of.

This is a summary of the important issues. You must still read the User Guide in full.

  • This telephone will not operate in the event of a mains power failure. Please ensure that a separate telephone, not dependent on local power, is available for emergency use.

The grant of a Telepermit for any item of terminal equipment indicates only that Spark has accepted that the item complies with the minimum conditions for connection to its network. It indicates no endorsement of the product by Spark, nor does it provide any sort of warranty. Above all, it provides no assurance that any item will work correctly in all respects with another item of Telepermitted equipment of a different make or model, nor does it imply that any product is compatible with all of Spark's network services.

This equipment shall not be set to make automatic calls to the Telecom "111" Emergency Service.

This equipment may not provide for the effective hand-over of a call to another device connected to the same line.

This equipment should not be used under any circumstances that may constitute a nuisance to other Telecom Customers.

Safety

In the event of an electrical hazard, the mains adaptor acts as a 230 V electrical isolation device. It should therefore, as a precaution, be installed close to the appliance and be easily accessible. To disconnect the device from the primary power source, the mains adaptor must be removed from the 230V AC/50 Hz socket.

If the mains adaptor fails, it must be replaced by an identical model.

We recommend that you also keep a conventional telephone – one that doesn't require a power supply – as a backup.

! Do not use the phone to report a gas leak when standing in the vicinity of the leak.

It is recommended that you avoid using this device during electrical storms. Do not attempt to open the batteries, as they contain chemical substances. In the event of leakage, avoid contact with the skin, eyes, nose and mouth. In the event of contact, rinse the affected part with running water and seek urgent medical attention. Clean the product with absorbent paper or a dry cloth and contact Oricom for replacement batteries.
