Frequently Asked Questions - Astatic M2 CAD Audio

How do I use phantom power on the M2?
To use phantom power with a condenser microphone, press the Phantom Switch (labeled +48V) for channel 1. Be sure to turn off the switch when connecting devices that do not support phantom power, and set the channel fader to minimum before toggling the switch.
Can I record directly to a computer with the M2?
Yes, connect the M2 to your computer via USB. The mixer is bus-powered and sends 24-bit/48kHz audio to your DAW. Use the 'Play Back to Main' switch to control whether USB audio is sent to the main output.
How do I adjust the built-in reverb effect?
Press the FX ON button for the desired channel, then adjust the FX Decay knob for reverb length and the FX Level knob for overall effect volume. The default setting has reverb off; increase to add spaciousness.
What is the difference between the Link Stereo Pan switch positions?
With the Link Stereo Pan switch out (normal), each mono channel feeds both left and right speakers equally. With the switch pressed in, channel 1 goes to left only and channel 2 to right only, allowing stereo recording or panning.
How do I avoid distortion on the M2?
If the CLIP LED lights up, turn the GAIN knob counter-clockwise until the LED no longer illuminates. Also ensure input levels are reasonable and adjust EQ knobs to flat if needed.
Can I use the M2 without a computer?
Yes, you can power the M2 using a USB power adapter (5V, not included). Connect microphones/instruments to the inputs and connect the MAIN OUT jacks to an amplifier or speakers for standalone operation.
How do I connect headphones or a headset?
Connect standard stereo headphones to the PHONES jack. For headsets with a microphone, plug the headset mic into the Headset Microphone Input jack (channel 2) and use the PHONES jack for audio output.
What type of microphone can I use with the M2?
The XLR combo inputs accept both dynamic and condenser microphones. For condenser mics, enable the +48V phantom power. The inputs also accept line-level instruments via the center of the combo jack.
How should I clean the M2 mixer?
Disconnect the USB cable before cleaning. Use a dry, soft cloth. Do not use paint thinners, solvents, or chemical wipes. Avoid applying oil or contact cleaner to faders.
What is the warranty period for the Astatic M2?
The CAD Audio Astatic M2 comes with a two-year limited warranty from the date of purchase covering defects in materials and workmanship. Retain proof of purchase and contact American Music & Sound at 1-800-431-2609 for claims.
