Frequently Asked Questions - 001-177 Meec Tools

What type of oil should I use for the Meec Tools lawn mower (001-177)?
Use a good grade of 4-stroke engine oil, SAE30. Do not add any additives. Change the oil after the first 5 working hours.
How do I adjust the cutting height on this lawn mower?
Switch off the engine. Pull the lever out and move it to the desired position from 1 (25 mm) to 7 (75 mm). Release the lever to lock it in place.
What should I do if the engine does not start?
Check if there is fuel, clean or replace the spark plug, and ensure the spark plug gap is 0.76 mm. If flooded, remove and wipe the spark plug, then set throttle to high revs and start again.
How often should I clean or replace the air filter?
Clean the air filter every 12 working hours, replace after 36 working hours. In dusty conditions, clean more frequently.
How do I change the engine oil?
Place a container under the mower, open oil filler and drain plug, let oil drain, replace drain plug, refill with SAE30 oil to the MAX mark on dipstick. Do not screw dipstick in when checking.
What should I do if the mower is vibrating excessively?
Check that all screws and blade retainers are tightened. If blade is unbalanced, replace it. Also ensure the blade is sharp.
How do I store the lawn mower for a long period?
Drain the fuel tank or run engine until it stops due to lack of fuel. Change the oil, clean the mower, store upright in a well-ventilated area away from children.
Can I use the mower on wet grass?
It is recommended to avoid mowing wet grass as it can clog the blades and catcher. For best results, mow when grass is dry.
What safety precautions should I take when using the mower?
Wear heavy-duty shoes and long trousers. Keep bystanders away. Never tilt the mower when starting unless absolutely necessary. Switch off engine before clearing blockages.
How do I replace the blade?
Switch off engine, disconnect spark plug, wear gloves. Tilt mower on its side (oil filler up). Use a 16 mm spanner to unscrew the hex screw counterclockwise. Remove washer and blade, fit new blade on the lugs, tighten screw.
