MONTERING

- Read these instructions carefully and familiarise yourself with the controls and how they are used.
- Never allow children, or anyone who is unfamiliar with the machine and these instructions, to use it. There may be local regulations for the minimum age of persons allowed to use the machine.
- Do not use the machine when other persons, especially children, or pets are in the vicinity.
• The user is responsible for any accidents or risks to other persons or property.
Preparations
• Always wear heavy-duty shoes and long trousers when using the machine. Do not use the machine if you are barefoot or wearing green shades.
- Carefully inspect the area where the machine is to be used and remove any objects that can be thrown out.
- Repair/replace the muffler if it gets damaged.
- Always check the machine before use to make sure that the blades, blade screws and mower deck are not worn or damaged. If the blades or screws are worn or damaged, always replace the complete set to avoid imbalance.
- On machines with multiple blades, all the blades can move when just one blade is turned – risk of personal injury.
WARNING!
- Petrol is highly flammable and can in some circumstances be eliminated.
- Fill up with fuel before starting the engine. Never remove the fuel cap or add fuel while the engine is running. Allow the engine to cool before filling with fuel.
- Do not start the machine if fuel has been spilled. Move the machine away from any split fuel before starting. Be careful not to ignite spilled petrol.
- Replace the fuel cap and fuel tank cover properly.
Use
- Do not run the engine in confined spaces where noxious carbon dioxide can accumulate.
- Only use the machine in daylight, or in good artificial lighting.
- If possible, avoid using the machine when the grass is wet
• Make sure you always have a good footing on sloping ground. - Use the machine carefully. Never run with the machine.
- Mow across slopes, never up and down.
- Be very careful when changing direction on slopes.
- Do not mow very steep slopes.
- Be very careful when going backwards or pulling the machine towards you.
- Stop the blades if the machine has to be tilted when moving it over an ungrassed surface, or when moving to and from the area to be mowed.
- Never use the machine if the guards or covers are dismantled or damaged. Never use the machine without the safety devices fitted, e.g. ejector guide and/or
neutral mode before starting the engine.
- Start the engine carefully according to the instructions. Keep your feel away from the blades.
- Do not tilt the machine when starting the engine, unless this is necessary to start it. If the machine has to be tilted, do not tilt it more than is absolutely necessary. Lift up the end furthest away from the user.
- Do not stand in front of the ejector opening when starting the engine.
- Never put your hands or feet near, or under, rotating parts. Always keep at a safe distance from the ejector opening
- Never lift or carry the machine when the engine is running.
- Switch off the engine, release the spark plug lead from the spark plug, remove the ignition key where appropriate, and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped in the following situations.
— Before clearing blockages or cleaning the ejector.
Before checking, cleaning or doing any other work on the machine.
- If the blade strikes an object. Check the machine and repair any damage before using it again.
- If the machine starts vibrating abnormally (check immediately).
- Switch off the engine, release the spark plug lead from the spark plug, remove the ignition key where appropriate, and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped in the following situations.
— Before leaving the machine.
Before filling up with fuel.
- Reduce the throttle and close the fuel cock (if there is one) before stopping the engine.
Maintenance and storage
• Make sure that all the screw connections are properly tightened to keep the machine in safe condition.
- Never store the machine with fuel in the tank in areas with sources of heat.
- Allow the engine to cool before putting away.
- Keep the engine, muffler, battery compartment and area where fuel is stored free from grease, grass, moss, and leaves, etc. - fire risk.
- Check the catcher for wear or damage at regular intervals.
- Replace damaged or worn parts.
- If the tank needs emptying, do this outside.
WARNING!
- Do not use the machine if parts are missing or damaged – risk of serious personal injury.
• Recycle the packaging in accordance with local regulations.
- Two persons are needed to lift the lawn mower out of the packaging. Make sure there is enough space to put down the machine. Stand firmly with your feet apart, bend your knees and keep your back straight when lifting.

ASSEMBLY
Handle
- Fit the bottom handle on the cover with a screw and wing nut on each side.
- Fold out the top handle and lock in place by tightening the wing nuts and screws.

Check that the guide for the starter cord is on the right side of the handle, seen from behind the lawn mower.
Starter cord
- Hold the starter handle and carefully pull out the starter cord so that the handle just goes past the guide.
- Hook the starter handle in the guide.

Grass catcher
- Fasten the grass catcher on the frame by hooking on all the plastic hooks.
- Lift up the ejector flap with one hand and hook on the grass catcher.
- Release the ejector flap to lock the grass catcher in place.

Adjusting the mowing height WARNING!
Switch off the engine before changing the mowing height.
- The mowing height is set with the level for this.
- Pull the lever out and move it to the position for the required mowing height. Release the lever to hook it in the required position.
- The mowing height can be adjusted from 25 mm (position 1) to 75 mm (position 7).

Checking the engine oil and topping up
- Remove the oil filler cap and wipe the dipstick.

- Replace the dipstick, without screwing it in.

Remove the dipstick again and check the oil level. The oil level should be between the MAX and MIN markings. Top up with oil of the recommended grade (SAE3C) if the oil level is near or below the lower limit mark on the dipstick. Top up to the upper level marking. Do not overfill. Wipe off any spilled oil.

WARNING!
The following procedures and settings should be carried out before starting the engine:
- Use a good grade of 4-stroke engine oil (SAE30). Do not put any additives in the oil.
- Change the oil the first time after 5 working hours to benefit the lifespan of the engine.
- The engine is supplied without oil and petrol. Always fill up with fuel and engine oil before using for the first time.
NOTE:
- Do not run the engine without enough oil – risk of serious engine damage. Do not use any oil grades other than those recommended by the manufacturer, this can reduce the lifespan of the engine.
- Place the lawn mower on a level surface with the engine switched off to check the oil.
Refuelling
- Clean the area around the fuel filler cap before opening. Open the fuel filler cap and check the fuel level.

- Fill up with fuel if the level is too low.
- Avoid spilling fuel when filling. Do not overfill. The fuel must not come up the filler tube.
- Wipe up any spilled fuel before starting the engine.
- Replace and tighten the fuel cap by hand.

- Always be careful when handling fuel – it is highly flammable. Store out of the reach of children
- The engine is supplied without oil and petrol. Always fill up with fuel and engine oil before using for the first time.
- Only refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine switched off. Keep petrol away from sparks and naked flames, and do not smoke where petrol is stored or when filling petrol. Avoid repeated or prolonged skin contact with fuel and/or inhalation of fuel fumes.
USE
WARNING!
- The blades start rotating when the engine starts.
- Before starting the engine, manoeuvre the engine lever several times to check the wire moves easily.
- Never start the engine indoors or in an enclosed area. Exhaust fumes from the engine contain carbon monoxide, an odourless and highly dangerous gas – risk of serious personal injury and/or death.
- Keep your hands, feet, hair, and loose-fitting clothes away from moving parts.
- The engine and exhaust pipe get very hot when in use – risk of burn injuries.
- Check before starting that the blade is correctly and securely fitted.

Starting the engine
- Press the primer pump 3–5 times before starting the engine. Hold the engine control lever pressed against the top handle.

Stand behind machine. To start the engine, pull the starter cord slowly until it catches (after 10–15 cm) and then pull it quickly.

Let the starter handle return to its original position slowly when the engine has started.

If the engine does not start
NOTE:
- If the engine will not start after pulling the starter cord several time this could be because the engine is flooded. Follow the instructions to wipe the spark plug and start the engine.
- Carefully screw in the spark plug by hand to avoid threading problems. A used spark plug should be tighten to 1/8 -1/4 of a turn after it seats to compress the sealing washer.
- Move the throttle lever to the stop position.
- Remove and wipe the spark plug, then replace.
- Move the throttle lever to the high revs
Lawn mowing
- Set the required mowing height.
- Start the engine according to the instructions and allow it to run.
- Hold the top handle and engine control lever in a firm grip and push the lawn mower forward.

WARNING!
- Failure to follow all the instructions and safety instructions can result in the risk of serious personal injury. Read all the instructions and safety instructions carefully before use.
- Never open the ejector flap when the engine is running and if the grass catcher is not fitted. The lawn mower blades can cause serious personal injury.
- Use the machine carefully. Never run with the lawn mower. Be very careful on uneven surfaces.
- Mow across slopes, never up and down.
- Be very careful when changing direction on slopes.
- Do not mow very steep slopes.
NOTE
- The best results are obtained when the grass is dry. Wet grass can block the blades and the catcher system.
- Grass grows at different rates, depending on the season. Always use the lowest mowing height setting when mowing for the first time at the start of the season, or when the grass is very dry.
- Do not mow more than 1/3 of the height of the grass.

Emptying the grass catcher
When cuttings fall onto the lawn behind the machine it is time to empty the grass catcher.

Lift up the ejector flap with one hand, grip the grass catcher handle with the other, and lift out the grass catcher. When the grass catcher is removed the ejector flap falls down and closes the ejector opening

Empty the grass catcher and replace.
NOTE:
- Switch off the engine and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before removing the grass catcher.
- Remove any residual grass in the ejector opening with a brush. Do not use your hands or feet to clear the blades and deck. Use a brush, broom or other suitable tool. The grass catcher will not work properly if the mower deck or ejector opening are blocked by grass.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING!
Switch off the lawn mower and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before carrying out maintenance and/or cleaning.
• Always clean the lawn mower after use.
- Do not allow grass and other debris to dry on the surfaces of the lawn mower.
- Dry, adhered grass and other debris can prevent the lawn mower from working properly.

NOTE:
Before putting the lawn mower on its side, empty the fuel tank. Do not tilt the lawn mower more than 90°.
Spark plug
- Allow the engine to cool and disconnect the spark plug lead from the spark plug.
- Remove the spark plug with a spark plug spanner.
- Clean the spark plug with a wire brush.
- Adjust electrode gap in 0.76 mm by using a feeler gauge.

- Carefully screw in the spark plug by hand to avoid threading problems.
- When it seats, tighten with the spark plug spanner to compress the sealing washer.
Cleaning the air filter
The engine will not work properly if the air filter is blocked because of the reduction in the supply of air. Clean the air filter more often in dusty conditions.
1. Release the clip and remove the cover.

- Take out the filter.
- Carefully tap the filter against a hard surface to clean it. Replace the filter if it is very dirty.
- Replace the filter.
- Place the cover pin in the slot.
- Close the cover and lock in place with the clip.

Changing the engine oil
- Place a suitable container under the lawn mower.
- Open the oil filler plug.
- Open the oil drain plug and allow the hot oil to run out into the container.
- Replace the drain plug when all the oil has run out.
- Fill up with engine oil to the top marking on the dipstick.
NOTE:
- Do not screw in the dipstick when checking the level – just insert it up to the thread.
• The oil should be at room temperature when changing. - Dispose of old oil in accordance with local regulations.
Replacing blades
- For reasons of safety blades should only be sharpened and fitted by an authorised service centre or other qualified personnel.
- Hold the blade and undo the hex screw anticlockwise with a spannet.

- Remove the washer and blade.
- Fit a new or sharpened blade. Fit the blade on the two laps on the mounting flange, and lock in place with the washer
WARNING!
- Turn off the engine, release the spark plug lead from the spark plug, and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before removing the blade.
- Wear safety gloves and remove the blade with a 16 mm spanner.
- Do not turn the lawn mower upside down, tilt it on its side towards the oil filler and reach in under the deck.
- Blades are sharp – risk of cut injuries. Handle the blade with care and wear safety gloves.
- If blades or screws are worn or damaged, always replace the complete set to avoid imbalance.
- Do not touch the blade with your bare hands.
- Keep the blade sharp for best mowing results. Sharpen or replace the blade if it is worn, damaged or blunt. A damaged or blunt blade affects the functionality of the lawn mower.
STORAGE
Short-term storage
No special preparations are required for storage less than 2 weeks. Follow the instructions before putting into storage.
- Allow the engine to completely cool
- Empty the grass catcher.
- Clean the underside of the mower deck.
- Store the lawn mower upright on a level surface.
- Store the lawn mower out of the reach of children and unauthorised persons.

- Empty the tank with a fuel pump.
- Run the engine until the fuel tank is empty and the engine stops due to lack of fuel.
- Change the oil at the end of every season. Empty the oil when the engine is warm and fill up with new oil.

- Clean the lawn mower all over to prevent any paint damage.
- Store the lawn mower in a well ventilated area.
WARNING!
- Do not empty the fuel tank in an enclosed area, or near naked flame or other source of heat.
- Do not smoke. Petrol and petrol fumes are highly flammable and can in some situations be explosive.
TRANSPORT
- Empty the fuel tank, or run the engine until the fuel tank is empty and the engine stops due to lack of fuel.
- Empty the oil when the engine is warm.
- Release the spark plug lead from the spark plug.
- Clean the engine's cooling fins and the casing. If possible, transport the lawn mower in its original pack.
- Secure the lawn mower so that it cannot move if transporting it on a trailer.
