Frequently Asked Questions - 301781 Aplic

How do I connect the Aplic 301781 barcode reader to my computer?
Connect the included USB cable to the reader and a free USB port on your computer. The reader is plug-and-play and typically works as a USB HID keyboard without additional drivers. For custom settings, you may need to scan configuration barcodes from the manual.
What barcode types does the Aplic 301781 support?
It supports common 1D barcodes such as UPC, EAN, Code 39, Code 128, and Interleaved 2 of 5. If the model includes 2D capability, it can also read QR Code and Data Matrix. Check the manual for the full list.
Why is my barcode reader not scanning?
First, ensure the reader is properly connected and the USB port is working. Check that the scanning window is clean. Adjust the scanning distance and angle – hold the reader 10-30 cm from the barcode. If still not scanning, try scanning a configuration barcode to reset defaults.
Can I use the Aplic 301781 wirelessly?
The standard model is wired via USB. There is no built-in Bluetooth or wireless module. If you need wireless, consider a different model or use a USB extension cable.
How do I clean the barcode reader?
Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution. Gently wipe the scanning window. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the device in liquid.
Does the reader work with my POS system or software?
Yes, as it emulates a keyboard wedge. The scanned barcode data appears as if typed. Most POS software accepts this input. For advanced features like barcode prefix/suffix, scan programming codes from the manual.
What is the maximum scanning distance?
The typical scanning distance is up to 30 cm (12 inches) for standard 1D barcodes. Dense or small barcodes may require closer distance. The actual range depends on barcode quality and resolution.
Is the laser safe for eyes?
Yes, the Aplic 301781 uses a Class 1 laser that is safe under normal operating conditions. However, do not point the laser directly into anyone's eyes for prolonged periods.
Can I replace the USB cable?
Yes, the USB cable is detachable and can be replaced with a standard USB Type-A to Mini-USB or Micro-USB cable (check your model). Use a cable that supports data transfer.
Where can I download the user manual?
The user manual for the Aplic 301781 is available for free download at notice-facile.com in PDF format. You can also view it online or request a translation.

4 Initial use

Take the device and the accessory out of the package and remove all the packaging material. Connect the RJ45 to the USB cable via the RJ-45 connector with the barcode scanner and plug the USB connector into a free USB port of your computer. In order to remove the cable on the bottom of the barcode scanner, it is necessary to release the latching nose of the RJ-45 plug. This will be done by injecting a slim object (e.g. a straightened paperclip) into the lateral hole next to the RJ-45 connector. So it is easy to detach the cable from device. The driver is installed automatically. The device is now ready to be used. For advanced settings, continue with chapter "6 Advanced Settings".

5 Scanning angle

To ensure correct scanning, make sure that the scanner is not held at a 90^ angle to the barcode. The scanner has to be pointed towards the bar code and the laser should cover the entire barcode. If this is not the case, errors might occur.

6 Advanced settings

You can use the advanced settings for additional settings like enabling or disabling certain types of code. Scan the following barcode to put the scanner in the "Advanced setting mode".
