Frequently Asked Questions - 99205I InLine

How do I connect the InLine 99205I to my Android phone?
Use the included Micro USB OTG cable. Connect the Micro USB end to the amplifier and the other Micro USB end to your phone. If your phone does not have a Micro USB port, you may need an adapter. The amplifier should be set to 'Battery' power mode if your phone cannot supply enough power via USB.
Can I use the 99205I with iPhone/iPad?
Yes, but you will need an Apple Lightning to USB Camera Kit (not included). Connect the Camera Kit to your iOS device, then plug the included Micro USB cable into the Camera Kit and the amplifier. Set the amplifier's power switch to 'Battery' for best performance.
How do I charge the built-in battery?
Connect the amplifier to a USB power source (e.g., a computer USB port or a USB charger) using the included Micro USB cable. When charging, the power LED will be red. A full charge takes about 2 hours. The LED turns green when charging is complete.
What is the battery life in different modes?
In headphone amplifier mode (using only the amplifier section without USB DAC), battery life is up to 24 hours. In USB DAC mode (converting digital audio from a computer/phone), battery life is up to 4 hours. Actual time depends on volume and headphone impedance.
How do I play DSD audio files on Windows?
First, install the driver from the included CD or download from drivers-download.com (DL code: DL-070001). Then install JRiver Media Center. In JRiver, go to Player > Playback Options > Audio. Select 'BRAVO-HD [ASIO]' as the audio device. Click Device Settings, check 'DSD bitstream in DoP format'. Then under Settings > Bitstreaming, select Custom and check only 'DSD'. You can now play DSD files.
Why is there no sound from my headphones?
Check that the volume knob is turned up and the amplifier is powered on (green LED should be solid). Ensure the power switch is set correctly (USB or Battery). Verify that your audio source is playing and that the USB connection is secure. On mobile devices, you may need to enable USB audio output in the app settings (e.g., Onkyo HF Player).
Can I use the 99205I with a computer without installing drivers?
On macOS, no driver installation is required; it works as a class-compliant USB audio device. On Windows, you must install the provided driver for full functionality (ASIO and high-resolution playback). Without the driver, Windows may still output audio but only up to 48 kHz/16-bit.
What does the 'Power Select Switch' do?
The switch on the rear panel lets you choose the power source. In 'USB' position, the amplifier draws power from the connected USB host (computer/phone). In 'Battery' position, it uses the internal battery. Use 'Battery' when the host cannot supply enough current (e.g., some phones) or when you want to preserve battery life of the host device.
How to use the line-in and line-out combo jack?
The 3.5 mm combo jack can function as either a line input or line output. By default, it is a line output (to connect to external speakers). To use it as a line input (e.g., from an MP3 player), you may need a special cable that grounds the correct pin. Refer to the manual for details. Typically, the jack automatically detects the connection type.
Is the InLine 99205I compatible with high-impedance headphones (300 ohms)?
Yes, the amplifier supports headphones from 16 to 600 ohms. For high-impedance headphones, especially those above 300 ohms, you may need to turn the volume up higher. The output power is around 190 mW at 32 ohms, which is sufficient for most high-impedance headphones.
