Frequently Asked Questions - WAS-623 WILFA

How do I use the Wilfa WAS-623 waffle maker for the first time?
Before first use, wipe the plates with a damp cloth and dry. Close the lid, plug in, set the thermostat to the desired level, and wait for the green ready light. Pour batter onto the center of the lower plate, close the lid, and cook until done.
What is the best temperature setting for crispy waffles?
For golden and crispy waffles, set the thermostat between medium-high (around 4-5 on the dial). Experiment to find your preferred browning level.
Can I use any type of batter?
Yes, but avoid batters with large chunks or excessive sugar as they may burn. For best results, use standard waffle batter or pancake mix.
How do I clean the waffle maker?
Unplug and let it cool completely. Wipe the plates with a soft damp cloth or paper towel. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse in water. For stubborn residue, use a non-stick safe brush.
Why is the waffle sticking to the plates?
Ensure the plates are coated with a thin layer of oil before first use and periodically. Also, allow the waffle to cook fully before opening; undercooked waffles tend to stick.
How long should I cook waffles?
Cooking time varies, typically 3-5 minutes depending on batter and desired doneness. The ready light will cycle on/off, but check for golden brown color.
Can I store the waffle maker vertically?
Yes, the design allows vertical storage with a cord wrap feature. Ensure it is completely cool and dry before storing.
What does the red and green light indicate?
The red light indicates power is on. The green light illuminates when the plates have reached the set temperature and goes out during cooking, then turns on again when ready for the next batch.
Is the waffle maker safe to use around children?
The appliance gets very hot. Keep children away during use and until it has cooled down completely. The cool-touch handle helps reduce risk, but adult supervision is required.
What if the waffle maker stops working?
Check the power cord and outlet. If overheat protection has activated, unplug and let it cool for 15 minutes before reuse. If the problem persists, contact Wilfa customer service.
