First use of the machine
Please read these instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place. Boil fresh water in the kettle at least twice before it is used for the first time. Use only plain water with no additives or ingredients.
Use
Set Wilfa SVART Manuell on a flat surface.
Open the kettle by pressing the button on the lid, and pour fresh cold water. Water scale on the side of the kettle showing how much water it contains. Do not overfill the kettle.
★ Close the lid by pushing it into the closed position.
Put the kettle on the flat base plate.
Press "Wilfa" start / stop button to start warming. The kettle turns off automatically when selected temperature is reached.
If it is desirable to maintain the selected temperature, press the "Keep Warm" button. The temperature will be kept for 15 min.
- Avoid touching the sides of the kettle when it contains hot water. Avoid opening the lid when you pour out the water.
Place the coffee filter (1x4) in the filter holder. Use desired quantity of coffee in the filter. We recommend that you use ground coffee, about 60 g per liter of water. Try out the first times until you find out how much coffee you think is best.
We also recommend that you use our Wilfa GRAM stål scale that gives 1g intervals for best results.
Set the flow control in middle position and adjust after your own desired for shorter or longer coffee-to-water contact time. Recommended contact time between water and coffee are 4 to 6 minutes.
Pour the water from the kettle over coffee in a circular motion.
By turning flow control completely to the right, it will act as a drip stop.
Wilfa SVART Manuell can also be used as a kettle. You can choose the water temperature on the "Set" button, 60°C, 70°C, 80°C, 90°C and 100°C. We recommend 100oC when brewing coffee, because the temperature will soon be reduced to the proper brewing temperature when pouring the water. Proper brewing temperature should be somewhere between 92°C – 96°C.
TIPS
- Wet the coffee filter to remove unwanted taste before brewing.
- By changing the pouring method can affect the contact time and the taste of coffee. With less circulating motion the water will flow faster through and will give a less-extracted coffee.
- You can also use our Wilfa MALT coffee grinder to change the degree of grind of the coffee. This will also change extraction time.
• Always use fresh coffee. For best results, the coffee you use is freshly ground.
