Frequently Asked Questions - Tradition SWA-517S WILFA

How do I use the Wilfa Tradition SWA-517S waffle maker for the first time?
Before first use, wipe the plates with a damp cloth and dry. Plug in and let it heat up with the lid closed. After a few minutes, open and brush a little oil on the plates. Close and let it heat further until the ready light turns on. Now it's ready to use.
What is the best temperature setting for waffles?
Start with setting 3 (medium) for golden brown waffles. Adjust up or down based on your preference. The dial has 5 settings, with 1 being light and 5 being dark.
How much batter should I pour for each waffle?
Pour about 100-120 ml of batter per waffle (2 waffles per batch). Do not overfill; spread it evenly with a spatula before closing the lid.
How do I clean the waffle maker?
Unplug and let it cool completely. Wipe the plates with a damp cloth or paper towel. For stuck food, use a soft brush. Never immerse in water or use abrasive cleaners.
Can I use the waffle maker to make other foods?
It is designed for waffle batter only. Do not use with raw meat or other fillings as the non-stick coating may be damaged and cleaning becomes difficult.
What does the ready light mean?
The power indicator stays on when the unit is plugged in. The ready light turns on when the plates have reached the set temperature and turns off when it needs to reheat.
Why are my waffles sticking to the plates?
Ensure you have properly seasoned the plates with oil before first use and periodically. Also check that the temperature is not too high. Let the waffles cook until steam stops before opening.
Is the waffle maker dishwasher safe?
No, do not put any part of the waffle maker in the dishwasher. Only the plates can be cleaned with a damp cloth. The non-stick coating may be damaged by dishwasher detergents.
How do I store the waffle maker?
Let it cool, wrap the cord around the base, and store upright or flat in a dry place. Do not place heavy items on top.
Where can I find spare parts or accessories?
Contact Wilfa customer support or visit the official website. Common spare parts include replacement non-stick plates and power cords. Always use original parts.
