Frequently Asked Questions - DVP445E HITACHI

How to reset the remote control if it stops working?
Remove the batteries, press and hold any button for several minutes to drain the internal microprocessor, then reinstall the batteries. If the issue persists, replace with new AAA batteries.
Why won't the disc play?
Ensure the disc is inserted label side up. Check that the region code of the disc matches the player’s region code (printed on the rear panel). Also verify the disc is clean and not scratched. For DVD±R/RW, ensure the format is compatible.
How to set parental control?
Press SETUP, go to Custom Setup, select Parental Ctrl. Enter your 4-digit password (default: 9922). Choose a rating level (1-8) or select Off to disable. Higher ratings block adult content.
No audio from the DVD player?
Check that the audio cables are securely connected to the TV or amplifier. Ensure the TV/amplifier input is set correctly. Press MUTE on the remote to confirm audio isn’t muted. Also try adjusting volume with VOLUME +/- buttons.
Picture is black and white or distorted?
This usually indicates a TV system mismatch. Press SETUP, go to Screen Setup, and set TV System to AUTO, PAL, or NTSC to match your TV. Clean the disc if it’s dirty. A slight distortion may be normal.
How to change the subtitle language?
Press the SUBTITLE button on the remote repeatedly to cycle through available subtitle languages. The selected language appears on screen.
Can I play JPEG files from a disc?
Yes. Insert a disc with JPEG (.jpg) files. The player automatically starts a slideshow. Use MENU to access file mode, and STOP to view thumbnails. Buttons like ANGLE, ZOOM, and arrow keys control viewing.
What is the maximum distance for the remote control?
The remote operates within 5 meters (approx. 16 feet) of the front sensor, within a 60-degree angle. Bright room light may reduce effective range.
How to perform a factory reset?
Press SETUP, go to Custom Setup, select Default, then press ENTER. This resets all settings to the original manufacturer defaults.
The disc tray won’t open?
Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the front panel or remote. If still stuck, unplug the player for a few minutes and retry. Ensure no disc is jammed. If problem persists, consult a qualified technician.
