How do I install the Evolveo Sonix motion sensor?

Mount the sensor at a height of 2 m (2.2 m for pet immunity) using the included bracket. Ensure the detection area is free of obstructions within 1.8 m. Avoid placing near air conditioners, heaters, or direct sunlight. Perform a walk test after installation.

What type of battery does the Sonix use and how long does it last?

It uses a CR123A 3V lithium battery. Battery life depends on usage but is optimized by the intelligent power saving mode. Low battery is indicated by a flashing LED every 5 seconds.

Can I use this sensor with pets?

Yes, the sensor has pet immunity for animals up to 20 kg. For best results, install at 2.2 m height, perpendicular to the ground, and avoid aiming at furniture pets can climb.

How do I switch between Test and Work mode?

Use the onboard switch. Set to Test (ON) for continuous alarm on motion. Set to Work (OFF) for smart energy saving mode. Note: In Work mode, the sensor starts in test mode for 10 minutes.

What does the smart energy saving mode do?

After 10 minutes in Work mode, if the sensor triggers 3 alarms continuously, it enters a sleep mode to save battery. It will not alarm until there is no motion for 3 minutes, then it returns to alarm state.

How do I code the sensor to my alarm panel?

The sensor supports PT2262 and EV1527 coding. Refer to your alarm panel manual for pairing instructions. The sensor sends a signal at 868.65 MHz.

What should I do if the sensor triggers false alarms?

Check for sources of rapid temperature change (AC, heaters, direct sunlight). Ensure the sensor is not facing moving objects like curtains. Adjust the angle and height per installation notes.

How do I replace the battery?

Open the sensor case by removing the screw. Replace the CR123A battery ensuring correct polarity. The sensor will resume operation; a low battery warning is sent only if using EV1527 coding.

Can I install the sensor outdoors?

No, the Sonix is designed for indoor use only. Outdoor installation may cause malfunction and damage.

III. Installation notes

1. It is recommended to mount the detector at a height of 2 m from the ground, select a suitable installation location and adjust the angle.

Angle adjustment

1. Infrared detection is closely related to temperature change.

Keep the detector away from air conditioners, heaters, refrigerators or anything that can cause rapid temperature changes.

1. After installation, perform a walk test. Pay attention to whether the detector can cover the alert area and wireless distance.

Test mode: triggers an alarm if someone moves in the detection area.

Working mode (default): Smart energy saving. Within 10 minutes of switching on, it is in test mode. Triggers an alarm if someone moves in the detection area. After 10 minutes, if the detector is alarmed 3 times continuously, it will automatically enter intelligent power saving sleep mode to save power. In this case, it will not alarm if someone moves in front of the detector.

When there is no activity in the detection area for 3 minutes, it will exit sleep mode and enter alarm state again.

3. Pet resistance function

With a detection range of 12 meters, the detector is immune to pets up to 20 kg.

For best coverage and immunity effect against pets, install the detector at a height of 2.2 metres above the ground.

For proper pet immunity function, the detector cannot be installed facing downwards, but perpendicular to the ground. And the bracket can only be rotated horizontally when

installed with the bracket.

When installing, avoid installing towards furniture that pets can climb on or similar areas.

4. Low battery warning

When the voltage is below 2.2 V, the detector sends a low battery signal to the main panel and an LED flashes every 5 seconds to remind the user to replace the battery.

COMMENT: The detector sends a low battery signal only when EV1527 coding is selected.
