Frequently Asked Questions - 4342 90000 Eta

How do I charge the trimmer?
Make sure the trimmer is OFF. Plug the connector into the socket A4 or place it on the dock C5, then connect the charging adaptor to a 230 V AC outlet. The red indicator light A2 flashes during charging; green when fully charged. Do not exceed 8 hours of charging time.
Can I use the trimmer while it is charging?
Yes, you can operate the trimmer with the adapter connected (corded use). However, maximum continuous operating time is 30 minutes, after which let it cool for 30 minutes.
How long does the battery last?
A fully charged battery provides about 40–45 minutes of cordless operation. To prolong battery life, fully discharge it twice a year before recharging.
Is the trimmer waterproof?
No, the trimmer is not waterproof. Do not immerse it in water or other liquids. You can rinse the removable blades under running water, but the main body must be kept dry.
How do I clean the blades?
Remove the cutting attachment and clean it with the brush. For heavy dirt, rinse the attachment under running water, then dry thoroughly before reattaching. Lubricate the blades with one or two drops of the included oil.
What attachments are included?
Two comb attachments: large (4–8–12–16–19 mm) and small (19–23–27–31–34 mm). Also included: charging adapter, brush, lubricating oil, and a charging dock.
How do I adjust the cutting length?
Use the blade cut length switch A5 to set the desired length on the attachment. The numbers indicate the hair length in mm after trimming.
Can I trim a wet beard?
It is recommended to wet and comb the beard before trimming for better results. However, the trimmer itself should not be used on wet hair if you are using the cord; the appliance must be kept dry.
What does the thinning switch do?
The Thin-out switch A6 adjusts the slider above the blades to eject some hair, allowing you to thin and shorten hair progressively without removing full volume.
How should I store the trimmer?
Store the trimmer and accessories in a dry, dust-free place out of reach of children. You can use the provided dock for convenient storage. Always turn off and unplug before storing.

III. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Before you can use the appliance, its batteries must be charged (cordless use). Fully charged batteries provide operation time for approx. 40 – 45 minutes. When using the cord, a continuous operation should not exceed 30 minutes. Then let the appliance cool off for 30 minutes.

To Charge/Recharge

  • Fully charge Clipper (max. 12 hours) before using for the first time or after non-use for a long period of time.
  • Battery performance is best if you recharge only when the battery is (almost)completely empty.
  • Charging or recharging at temperatures below 10^ or higher than 50^ adversely affects lifespan of the battery.
  • Continuously recharging Clipper will reduce lifespan of battery.

1) Be certain Clipper is OFF.
2) Charging: plug the connector into the socket A4 or into the dock C5, where you place the trimmer.
3) Plug charging adaptor into any 230 V AC outlet.
4) It will take approximately 8 hours to fully charge the Clipper.
5) Do not exceed the set time of charging! There is an indicator the light A2 begins to flash red during charging. When the battery is charged, green light turns on. That is why it is necessary to watch and keep the set time of charging.
6) After charging, unplug the adaptor from the mains first and only then unplug the connector from the appliance.

Optimize the working life of the battery

  • After the Clipper has been charged for the first time, do not recharge the Clipper between trimming sessions. Continue using it until the battery is completely empty.
  • Do not charge for more than 8 hours.
  • Do not keep adaptor permanently plugged in.
  • Discharge / run down the battery completely twice a year by letting the motor run until it stops. Let the battery charge fully afterwards.
  • The appliance heats up during charging or operation, which is normal.

Hair clipping

- The trimmer can be operated from the outlet with the adaptor connected (the battery must be recharged partially) or only from the charged battery. In case an attachment B gets blocked (or the blades A3), the appliance must be turned off immediately and the cause of the block removed.

  • The trimmer turns on and OFF with a switch A1. Turn the trimmer on only after the attachment has been properly placed and you are ready for trimming. Turn the trimmer off immediately after use.
  • We recommended oiling the blades with the oil C3 attached before first use.
  • Before you start clipping, make sure that the head of the person whose hair you are cutting is at the same level as your chest so that all parts of his/ her head are clearly visible and within easy reach.
  • Only use the clipper on dry hair.
  • Do not use on freshly washed hair.
    – Before you begin, comb the hair in the direction of growth.
  • To achieve optimal clipping results, always move the clipper slowly through the hair against the direction of hair growth.
  • When the appliance is in operation, the A2 light is green, when the battery power reaches minimum, the light begins to flash red. It is a signal to charge the battery.

Clipping with hair comb attachment

1) Slide the cutting attachment B on the appliance head onto the guiding grooves in a way that it locks in the protrusions. Set the desired length A5 of attachment (see fig. 2).
2) If you are trimming for the first time, begin by trimming with an attachment of max. length to prevent too short of a cut.
3) Make sure that the flat part of the comb is always in full contact with the scalp to obtain an even result.
4) Move the clipper slowly over the crown from different directions to achieve an even result.
5) Always move the clipper against the direction of hair growth.
6) Make overlapping passes over the head to ensure that all hair that should be cut has been cut.
7) Turn the Clipper off and remove the hair comb often to blow and/or shake out hair that has accumulated.

Contouring without the hair clipping comb attachment

1) Remove the hair comb (if it is attached). Be careful when you are clipping without comb attachment as when the clipper is turned on it will trim every hair it touches.
2) Tilt the clipper in such a way that only one edge of the trimming attachment touches the hair ends when you shape the contours around the ears.
3) To contour the nape of the neck or hairline, turn the clipper and hold it with the trimming attachment pointing downwards.
4) To contour the sideburns, turn the clipper and hold it with the trimming attachment pointing downwards.

Cutting contours (fig. 3)

  1. No adapter is used for aligning contours.

GB

  1. Comb the hair in the required style.
  2. Set the trimmer between hairline and ear. Check whether the corner of the trimmer blades is set against hairline. Follow the hairline and go round the ear slowly with the trimmer upwards and to the back. Do not push on the trimmer.
  3. At the back on the neck and by the sideburns, hold the appliance against the skin and go down at the required length.

Perfect short military cut (fig. 3)

  1. Always cut from the scruff to the head top using the longest setting. Hold the trimmer flatwise along the head and move it slowly through the hair upwards. Apply the same procedure on the head sides; even here move the trimmer bottom-up.
  2. On the front part of the head top, cut the hair against the growth direction. Then align the cut against the cut on the temples.
  3. If you want to reach even cut on the top, cut the hair using a straight comb, not the trimmer adapter. Use the comb for cutting hair on the top of the head.
  4. To shorten the cut towards the neck, gradually use shorter adapters. Comb through the hair and look for unevenness in the cut. Align the cut by the neck and at the ears.

Illustration showing three-step hair styling technique: head, neck, and feathering steps with directional arrows.

Trimming beard

  1. Before trimming beard, wet it a bit and comb it.
  2. Mark the beard line using the trimmer and cut out the beard exceeding the line on the outside.
  3. If you want to reach even beard cut, use one of the B adapters or trim the ends carefully in parts using a comb by moving the comb through the beard upwards (fig. 4). Repeat the process on the whole beard.
  4. After the end of trimming, shave the area around the beard in a usual way.

Trimming moustache

  1. Before trimming moustache, wet it a bit and comb it.
  2. For reaching even cut of the moustache, cut the ends carefully through a comb. If you prefer using a finger as the guide, follow the procedure on figure 5.

Adjustment dial for thin-out

Shorten your hair progressively to the desired length. To thin hair, the adjustment the slider the hair to eject strip above blades (see figure 6). The trimmer then only cuts a few of the hairs.

IV. MAINTENANCE

Turn off the appliance before each maintenance, or unplug the adapter from the electric socket! Do not use rough and aggressive detergents! Wipe the trimmer surface with a wet soft cloth.

Cleaning blades

Clean the blades with the brush attached. If the blades are very dirty, you can remove the whole cutting attachment and clean it under running water. After drying it thoroughly, put the attachment with the blades back on the trimmer reversely. In order to keep the trimmer in a perfect condition, you have to lubricate the list with blades using one or two drops of oil for sewing machines (figure 7). Do not use hair oil, petroleum jelly or oil mixed with petrol or any other solvent because after evaporation the solid parts of the lubricant could slow down operation of the blades. Insert the trimming head to the trimmer properly, turn on the trimmer and then turn it off and wipe out the excessive oil from the blades.
