Frequently Asked Questions - CM9409TB-CE Clas Ohlson

How do I set the clock on the coffee maker?
To set the clock, plug in the coffee maker and press the TIMER button. The display shows 'CLOCK PROG' and the hour digits flash. Use the [+] or [-] buttons to set the hour. Press TIMER again to set the minutes, then adjust. Press TIMER once more to exit settings.
How do I use the timer to schedule brewing?
Fill the water reservoir and add coffee grounds. Press TIMER until 'PROG/BREW' and the hour digits flash. Set the desired start time using [+] and [-]. Press TIMER to confirm. The green timer LED will shine. Brewing will start automatically at the set time.
How much coffee grounds should I use?
The manual does not specify exact amounts. Use your preferred strength. A general guideline is 1 to 2 tablespoons of ground coffee per cup (150 ml). Do not overfill the filter basket.
Why is my coffee maker not brewing?
Check that the carafe is correctly placed on the warming plate, as the drip-stop mechanism requires proper positioning. Ensure the water reservoir has water and the filter holder is correctly inserted. Also verify the power cord is plugged in and the BREW or timer has been activated.
How do I descale the coffee maker?
Mix 2–3 tablespoons of white vinegar (12%) with cold water to the maximum fill line. Pour into the tank, insert a filter (without coffee), and run a full brewing cycle. Repeat if necessary. Then run 2–3 cycles with clean water to rinse. Descale every 30–40 uses.
How do I clean the coffee maker?
Unplug and let it cool. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth using mild detergent. Hand wash the glass carafe with dish soap and dry with a kitchen towel. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water.
What type of filter does it use?
It uses a size 1×4 filter. The coffee maker comes with a reusable filter. You can also use disposable paper filters (size 1×4) sold separately.
What is the capacity of the carafe?
The carafe has a capacity of 1.5 L, which makes approximately 12 cups of coffee (1 cup = approx. 125 ml).
Why does the coffee maker turn off automatically?
The coffee maker has an auto shut-off feature that activates after 40 minutes in keep-warm mode. This saves energy and prevents overheating. You can manually turn it off earlier by pressing BREW.
Is the coffee maker safe for children?
The coffee maker can be used by children aged 8 years and above with supervision. Cleaning and maintenance should only be done by children over 8 under supervision. Keep the product and cord out of reach of children under 8. Never let children play with the appliance.

Care and maintenance

Cleaning

  • Always unplug the lead from the power point and let the coffee maker cool down properly before cleaning it.
  • Clean the exterior of the coffee maker using a soft, moist cloth. Use only mild cleaning agents, never solvents or corrosive chemicals.
  • Hand wash the glass carafe with a little washing up liquid and hand dry it with a kitchen towel.

Descaling

  • For optimal performance, your coffee maker should be descaled regularly.
  • If a substantial amount of scale is allowed to build up removal will be extremely difficult even when using a descaling agent. Scale can also cause leaks in the brewing mechanism. We recommend that the coffee maker be descaled after every thirty to forty uses. For descaling you can use a mixture of white vinegar and water:

  • Mix 2–3 tablespoons of white vinegar (12 %) with an amount of cold water equal to the coffee maker's maximum capacity.

  • Pour this solution into the tank. Insert a filter into the filter basket without coffee.

  • Turn on the coffee maker and allow it to run through a complete filtering cycle. Repeat if necessary. Conduct this descaling process in a well ventilated area and avoid breathing in the resulting fumes.

  • To clean the coffee maker after descaling you should run the machine through 2–3 filtration cycles using clean water filled to full capacity.
