5. Preparations
To prevent injury, always remove the battery before you carry out any work on the nylon line reel!
Changing the length of the nylon line (see Figure D)
Before using the tool for the first time you must adjust the nylon line to the correct length.
To do so, proceed as follows (see Figure D):
●Hold the reel holder in the one hand and the nylon line in the other hand.
●Pull the nylon line up and out of the notch (see Pos. n1).
●Pull out the nylon line half a revolution up to the next notch (see Pos. n2).
●Now put the line back in the notch (see Pos. n3).
- If the nylon line is still too short, repeat the above steps!
Hold the grass trimmer securely in both hands without it touching the grass you want to cut. Press the ON switch and allow the trimmer to run briefly in idle mode. The nylon line will now be adjusted automatically. To turn off the grass trimmer, let go of the ON switch.
⚠️ Important!
A worn nylon line impairs tool performance.
Changing the nylon line reel (see Figure E and F):
To change the nylon line reel, proceed as follows:
●Hold the reel holder (1) in the one hand and the reel (2) in the other hand.
●Depress the reel (3) and at the same time turn it anticlockwise approx. one quarter of a revolution. You can now take out the empty line reel.
●Before you insert the new reel, clean the reel holder.
●To fit the new line reel, proceed in reverse order.
●Take the line reel and push it into the reel holder (6).
- Turn the reel clockwise (7) to latch it home. Note the notches on the bottom of the line reel (8, 9) when you insert it. To adjust the nylon line to the correct length, repeat the steps described in the section „Changing the length of the nylon line“.
⚠ Caution! Under no circumstances should you wind a different line on the empty line reel. Always replace the reel with an original replacement part.
Using a line with different characteristics than those of the original nylon line may result in irreparable damage to the tool and will certainly render the warranty invalid.
6. How to use the tool
Do not move the tool up against the grass you want to cut until it is running, i.e. the ON switch is pressed. For the correct cutting action, hold the tool at an angle of approx. 30^ and swing it to the side as you walk forward. This method produces perfect results (see Figure H and Figure K).
Make several passes to cut the grass shorter step by step. Never cut wet or very damp grass (see Figure L).
Use the edge of the guard to keep the grass trimmer away from hard surfaces (see Figure M) so as to avoid rapid wear to the nylon line.
7. Charging the battery
●To remove the battery (see Figure N), first undo the clips (2) and then press firmly on the catch (1).
- Check that your mains voltage is the same as that marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. You can now plug the battery charger in a socket-outlet.
GB
- Insert the battery in the charging adapter. An empty battery requires a maximum charging period of approx. 7 hours. A battery with residual capacitance takes accordingly less time to charge. The temperature of the battery may rise slightly during the charging operation. This is normal. (See Figure O.)
⚠️Please note!
No automatic switch-off when the battery is fully charged!
If the battery fails to charge, please check whether there is voltage at the socket-outlet and whether there is good contact at the charging contacts of the battery charger.
If you still fail to charge the battery, please return
●the power supply unit with charging adapter, and
●the battery
to our ISC Service Centre.
