Frequently Asked Questions - IB-DK4027-CPD Icy Box

What devices are compatible with the IB-DK4027-CPD docking station?
The docking station works with computers that have a USB Type-C port supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery or Thunderbolt 3. It is compatible with Windows 10 and macOS.
How do I set up the docking station?
Connect the USB-C cable to your notebook, then connect your peripherals (monitor, mouse, etc.) to the dock. The dock installs drivers automatically. Configure display settings in your OS.
What video resolutions does the dock support?
HDMI supports up to 3840x2160@30 Hz (Ultra HD). VGA supports up to 1920x1080@60 Hz (Full HD). When using both HDMI and VGA in mirrored mode, both output up to 1920x1080@60 Hz.
Can I charge my laptop through the docking station?
Yes, the USB-C port on the dock supports Power Delivery up to 100 W. Connect your original notebook power supply to the dock's USB-C PD port. Note: The host USB-C port must also support Power Delivery.
How do I use the memory card slots?

How do I clean the dock?
Disconnect the dock from power before cleaning. Use a dry, anti-static cloth. Avoid aggressive cleaners or solvents that could damage the surface.
Can I connect a monitor via VGA and HDMI at the same time?
Yes, but only in mirrored mode. Both displays will show the same content at up to 1920x1080@60 Hz. Extended desktop is not supported when using both ports.

Starting up

Requirements

  • Host computer with an available USB Type-C ^ port (to ensure full dock functionality, the host USB Type-C ^ port must support USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort ^TM Alt Mode or Thunderbolt ^® 3)
  • Any of the following operating systems: Windows ^® 10, macOS ^®

Note: The DockingStation can still connect to a host computer with a USB Type-® port that does not support Power Delivery (but must still support DisplayPort™ Alt Mode). In this configuration, the DockingStation will not provide power to your host notebook.

USB Type-C®

Not all USB Type-C® ports support the full functionality of the USB Type-C® standard. Some ports might only provide data transfers, and might not support video or Power Delivery over USB.

i DisplayPort Alt Mode ? Computer manual

USB Type-C™ ≠ USB Type-C™

Important!

This ICY BOX product requires the usage of DisplayPort™ Alt Mode technology over the USB Type-C™ connector. Not all computers, notebooks or tablets with a USB Type-C™ interface support the DisplayPort™ Alt Mode.

Please check the specifications of your computer system as well as its USB Type-CTM interface or use the ICY RCX product with a Thunderbolt™ 3 connector.

To use this dock to its full potential, ensure that the host USB Type-C® port from your computer supports DisplayPort® Alt Mode, as well as USB Power Delivery or Thunderbolt® 3. Note! The USB Type-C® port on the DockingStation supports only Power Delivery (no data transfer).

  2. Attention! When plugging in and out a Power Delivery adapter to the Type-C interface of the IB-DK4027-CPD, the connected USB devices will get disconnected flashily and then reconnect within a few seconds.
