How do I connect an external monitor?

Connect the monitor to either HDMI port using an HDMI cable. The dock supports resolutions up to 3840x2160@60 Hz (HDMI 1) or 3840x2160@30 Hz (HDMI 2). Then configure display settings in macOS System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement.

Can I charge my laptop through the dock?

Yes, the dock has a dedicated USB Type-C port for Power Delivery (PD) that can deliver up to 20V/5A (100W). You need to connect your laptop's original power supply to this port. The dock itself is bus powered.

What is the maximum video resolution supported?

With a single display, HDMI 1 supports up to 3840x2160@60 Hz, HDMI 2 supports up to 3840x2160@30 Hz. For dual displays, both can run at 3840x2160@60 Hz and 3840x2160@30 Hz respectively. Actual resolution depends on the host laptop's graphics capabilities.

Does the dock support SD and microSD cards?

Yes, it has separate slots for SD 2.0 and microSD 2.0 cards, with read speeds up to 25 MB/s. Note that the card reader is Single-LUN, meaning only one card can be accessed at a time.

Is the Icy Box IB-DK4043-2C compatible with my MacBook?

How do I arrange my displays?

Go to System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement. You can drag the monitor icons to reposition them. To mirror displays, check the Mirror Displays box. For extended desktop, arrange them as desired.

What does 'Single-LUN' mean for the card reader?

Single-LUN means the card reader can only communicate with one memory card at a time. If you insert both an SD and a microSD card, only the first one inserted will be detected until it is removed.

Can I use both SD and microSD cards at the same time?

No, because the card reader is Single-LUN. It can only recognise one card at a time. You must remove one before using the other.

What is the Power Delivery rating for the PD port?

The USB Type-C PD port supports up to 20V@5A, providing up to 100W of power delivery to charge your connected laptop.

How should I clean the dock?

Disconnect the dock from all devices before cleaning. Use a dry, anti-static cloth. Avoid using aggressive cleaning agents, solvents, or liquids that could cause damage or short circuits.

The dual USB Type- C^Tw DockingStation is designed for extra connectivity demands. With this DockingStation you can extend a Dual USB Type- C^Tw host interface of a MacBook Pro® notebook to two more displays, USB peripherals, memory cards and LAN connection through one USB Type- C^Tw cable. Adopting Power Delivery charging technology, upstream charging function through a Type- C^Tw interface, you can charge the connected notebook by using your existing Type- C^Tw power supply at once.

Usage of memory card slots

SD card

Insert the SD card into the SD card slot with the bevelled corner in front of it. The golden PIN's of the card must be directed downwards (if the ICY BOX logo is visible at the top).

microSD card

Insert the microSD card into the microSD card slot with the bevelled corner in front of it. The golden PIN's of the card must be directed upwards (if the ICY BOX logo is visible at the top).

Configure a display device

Please set up your display settings according to your operating system and requirements. For detailed information, see the corresponding operation manual and description of your operating system.

Note: Video output capabilities are dependent on the video card and hardware specifications of your connected host laptop. Certain video cards and operating systems have limited MST support, while some monitors will also limit the available resolution.

The docking station supports 4K HD resolutions if the connected DisplayPort ^™ displays and the graphic unit supports it.

Arrange your display

Once the extra monitors are connected, they can be configured to mirror mode or extend mode.

- Click Arrangement

- Select the corresponding monitor symbol by clicking and holding on the symbol of the monitor to be placed.

To set up scaled resolutions of the monitor displays, click the Display tab and then, in the opened window of the respective display, set your desired views separately. Select the Scaled option and then select the appropriate size in the field below.

Advanced display settings

Hold down the option key, click again on Scaled and an advanced menu for resolution settings and repeat frequency settings opens.

Please select your preferred settings here.

Repeat for each attached monitor if necessary.
