Frequently Asked Questions - FH09B Cotech

How do I adjust the thermostat?
Turn the thermostat dial clockwise to maximum when the heater is on. Then slowly turn it back until you hear a click; the heater will stop and the indicator light goes off. The heater will then automatically cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.
What should I do if the fan heater does not start?
Check that the heater is on a level surface (tip-over switch may be tripped). Ensure the plug is securely connected to a live socket. Also check if the thermostat has turned the heater off; if so, adjust the thermostat setting.
Can I use an extension cord with this fan heater?
No, do not use extension cords. Connect the heater directly to a mains outlet.
How do I clean the fan heater?
Unplug the heater before cleaning. Use a dry or slightly damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not immerse in water or use abrasive cleaners.
Why does the fan heater turn off by itself?
This can be due to the thermostat reaching the set temperature (normal), or the overheat protection tripping if the airflow is blocked. Ensure the heater is placed on a level surface and not covered.
Where should I place the fan heater?
Place it on a hard, level surface at least 15 cm from walls or furniture. Do not place on soft surfaces like beds or carpets. Keep away from water and flammable objects.
What should I do if the mains lead is damaged?
If the mains lead is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, a qualified service facility, or a qualified technician to avoid risk of electric shock or fire.
Can the fan heater be used in a bathroom?
No, do not use the fan heater in bathrooms, laundry rooms, or near baths or showers. It is for indoor use only in dry locations.
How do I activate the oscillation function?
Set the power switch (4) to position 1 to start the oscillating function. Position 0 is off, position I is warm air (1000 W), position II is hot air (2000 W).
Is it safe to leave the fan heater unattended?
The heater has safety features like tip-over and overheat protection, but it is recommended to never leave it unattended, especially around children or pets. Always follow the safety instructions.

Thermostat

With the fan heater turned on to one of the heat settings:

  2. Turn the dial back slowly when the room has reached the desired temperature. Continue turning until there is an audible click. The fan heater stops and the indicator lamp switches off.
  3. No further adjustment is required. The fan heater will then automatically turn on once the temperature falls below the setting and turn off once the set temperature is reached.
  4. Set the power switch (4) to position 1 to start the oscillating function.

Tip-over switch

The tip-over switch at the bottom of the fan heater will shut off the fan automatically should it tip over.

Overheating protection

The fan heater has a built-in thermal overheating protection device. If the overheating protection is triggered, the heating element switches off. When the overheating protection has cooled down, the heating element and the heater work normally again. As an extra safety measure the heater is also fitted with a thermal fuse safety cut-off. This thermal fuse cannot be reset, so if it has blown the fan heater cannot be reused. The fan heater should then be discarded.
