Frequently Asked Questions - Vulcan VX6.2E Hifonics

What is included in the Hifonics Vulcan VX6.2E speaker system?
The package includes a pair of 6.5-inch midbass woofers, a pair of tweeters, and a pair of external passive crossovers. Installation hardware may vary.
What is the impedance of the Vulcan VX6.2E speakers?
The speakers are typically 4 ohms impedance. Always verify with a multimeter before connecting to an amplifier.
Can I install the tweeter separately from the midbass?
Yes, the system is designed as a component set. Mount the tweeter close to the midbass for optimal sound staging, as recommended in the manual.
How do I wire the crossover correctly?
Connect the amplifier output to the crossover input (marked 'Input' or 'From Amp'). Then connect the woofer to the 'Woofer' output and tweeter to the 'Tweeter' output. Observe polarity: red positive, black negative.
What if I don't use the crossover?
The crossover is essential to protect the tweeter from low frequencies. Running the tweeter full-range will damage it. Always use the included crossover.
Can I mount these speakers in the rear deck?
Yes, ensure there is adequate clearance behind the mounting surface (at least 60mm depth) and no obstructions like gas tank or wiring harnesses.
What is the recommended power handling?
Estimated RMS power handling is 60 watts per channel, with peak handling around 120 watts. Use an amplifier that delivers clean power within this range.
Why is polarity important?
Correct polarity (+ to +, - to -) ensures the speakers work in phase, producing proper bass response and soundstage. Reversing polarity causes cancellation and weak bass.
Can I use these speakers with a car stereo head unit?
Yes, but head units typically deliver 15-25W RMS. For full potential, use an external amplifier. Ensure the head unit can drive 4-ohm loads.
How do I clean the speakers?
Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the grilles. Avoid liquids or abrasive cleaners. Do not touch the cone or dome directly to prevent damage.

INSTALLATION NOTES

The first step of installing a speaker system is thorough planning. Choose a suitable location for your speaker components carefully. Follow these suggestions to ensure proper imaging and maximum performance:

  1. Choose a location that offers the least amount of obstruction between the components and your ears. Pay also attention to the position of the seats, headrests and other constructional systems in the interior space of the car.
  2. Try to mount the speakers on the same arrangement. They should be installed at the same height and directly across from each other. Do not mount one speaker higher, lower, further forward or further backward from the opposite speaker.
  3. The tweeter should always be installed as close as possible to the midbass speaker.
  4. Always take a look behind the chosen mounting locations to ensure that there is proper clearance for the rear side of the speakers and avoid obstructions such as window tracks, wire harnesses, gas tank etc.
  5. Maximum performance is achieved when the speaker is securely mounted to a door panel or rear speaker deck. There should be no gaps between the speaker basket and the mounting surface

IMPORTANT

  1. Please handle the components with care, otherwise they will get damaged.
  2. Please pay attention to the correct polarity (+ or -) for all terminals and connections.
  3. Never connect the speakers to the electrical ground or with the body of the vehicle.
