Frequently Asked Questions - EV 1512 ECG

How do I clean the ECG EV 1512 hot plate?
After the appliance has completely cooled, unplug it and wipe the surface with a soft cloth and a mild detergent or gel cleaner. Do not use abrasive cleaners, hard brushes, alcohol, kerosene, or organic solvents. Never immerse the hot plate in water.
What should I do before using the hot plate for the first time?
Run the hot plate at the highest temperature for 3–5 minutes to stabilize the surface layer. This may produce a slight odor or smoke due to protective film, which is normal. Then clean with a soft wet cloth and place on a stable surface near a grounded outlet.
What type of cookware is recommended?
Use pots and pans with a firm, flat bottom measuring 15–17 cm in diameter and about 1 liter volume. The cookware should not have a larger diameter than the heating plate to avoid contact with control elements.
Why does the indicator light go on and off during cooking?
This is normal. The thermostat temporarily switches off the heating element to prevent overheating, causing the light to go off until the temperature drops. It is a safety feature.
Can I use the hot plate near water or flammable liquids?
No. Do not use the hot plate close to water, bathtubs, showers, wash basins, or flammable liquids. Always use it on a stable, dry surface away from curtains and other flammable objects.
What should I do if the power cord is damaged?
Do not use the appliance. All repairs, including cord replacement, must be performed by an authorized service center. Do not remove protective covers due to risk of electric shock.
How can I prevent the hot plate from overheating?
Always use a grounded outlet and avoid overloading the circuit. The thermostat automatically cuts off power if overheating occurs. Never use oil spray; use a brush soaked in oil. Do not leave the appliance unattended while operating.
Is the hot plate safe for children to use?
Children aged 8 and above can use it if supervised and trained in safe operation. Children under 8 should stay away from the appliance and its cord. Cleaning and maintenance should not be done by children without supervision.
How do I dispose of the hot plate at the end of its life?
Do not discard it as household waste. Take it to a designated recycling point for electrical and electronic equipment. This helps prevent environmental harm and conserves resources.
What are the technical specifications of the ECG EV 1512?
The hot plate has a diameter of 185 mm, operates at 220–240 V ~ 50–60 Hz, and has a power input of 1500 W. It includes a thermostat control with indicator light and safety shut-off.

  1. Make sure the voltage in your outlet corresponds to the voltage provided on the appliance label and that the socket is correctly grounded. The outlet must be installed in accordance with applicable electrical codes according to EN.
  2. Always use a grounded outlet 220–240 V\~ 50–60 Hz to power the appliance.
  3. Do not use the hot plate if the power cable or its plug is damaged. All repairs including cord replacements shall be performed by a professional service center! Do not remove protective covers of the appliance, risk of electric shock!
  4. DO NOT REPAIR a blown fuse yourself. The appliance should be brought to an authorized service center, where the fuse would be replaced.
  5. Protect the appliance against direct contact with water and other liquids, to prevent potential electric shock. Never use this appliance close to a bathtub, shower, wash basin or other containers with water.

  7. DO NOT USE the hot plate placed on hot surfaces or close to them. (Cooker, stove, etc.).

  8. Do not use the appliance outside or in a wet environment and do not touch the power cable or the appliance with wet hands. Risk of electric shock.

  9. Make sure that the double hot plate is placed on a stable, secure surface to prevent it from overturning or to prevent water from entering it.

  10. We do not recommend using extension cords. They could overheat and cause fire. If it is necessary to use an extension cord, the crosssection of the cable wires should be 1,5 mm^2 or conform to the NO.14AWG standard.

  11. To prevent overloading and blowing fuses, make sure that there is no other appliance with high power consumption connected to the same outlet or on the same circuit.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Preparation before use

Before first using the hot plates run it at the highest temperature for 3–5 minutes. You will thermally stabilize the surface layer this way. After that never start the hot plate without a cooking vessel.

You will achieve the most effective operation when using cookware with firm flat bottom with diameter 15–17 cm and about 1 l volume.

  1. Clean the hot plate using soft wet cloth. Place it on an even, stable surface close to the electrical outlet.
  2. Check if the voltage marked on the appliance corresponds to the voltage of your outlet. Before plugging it in, make sure that the thermostat control is in the "MIN" position.
  3. When cooking, always use pots and pans with flat bottoms that have close contact with the cooking plate. Keep the surface of both hot plates clean and dry.

Operation

Used cookware should not have larger diameter than the diameter of the plate. The cookware used should never extend to the area of control elements.

  1. Put food in the pot (the total amount of water and food in the pot should not exceed 80% of the volume of the pot, to prevent overflowing). Cover the pot with a lid and place it on the hot plate.

  2. Plug the hot plate in the outlet. The degree of heating can be controlled by turning the thermostat toward the position MIN or MAX. Turn the thermostat control from the "MIN" position to maximum. The control light comes on and the hot plate starts warming up.

  3. There are two points, which you have to remember when using new hot plate:

  4. When using the new hot plate the first time, the surface can emit odor or smoke. This is normal and it is caused by an invisible layer of protective film applied to the appliance during production.

  5. Before the food starts to boil, the control light on the hot plate can go off temporarily because the thermostat temporarily switches off. This safety feature is a normal function of the hot plate.

  6. When you finish cooking put the control in the MIN position and always disconnect from power supply. Wait until the appliance cools off before moving it or cleaning it.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  1. Make sure that the power cable is unplugged. Clean the hot plate using gentle detergent or gel cleaner and soft cloth after it thoroughly cools down.

DO NOT CLEAN THE APPLIANCE WHILE IT IS HOT.

  1. DO NOT USE hard brushes, abrasives or alcohol, kerosene or other organic cleaners.
  2. Do not immerse the hot plate in water while cleaning it.
  3. Store the hot plate in a cool place after cleaning.
