- Constant cleaning and maintenance grants perfect function and best performance of your appliance.
- Whenever you use extractor hoods in combination with non electrically-operated appliances (gas and oil-fired appliances), the negative pressure of the corresponding room must not be more than 4 Pa (4 * 10bar). In this particular case we recommend you install a window control switch or an air pressure control device.
- The relevant room must be well-ventilated.
- Clean the appliance regularly.
- Clean or replace the grease filters regularly.
Special measures extraction mode
- The extracted air is conducted by an exhaust hose. You need an exhaust duct or an exhaust pipe, which conduct the extracted air outside your home.
- Whenever the hood is run in company with chimney-conducted firing (e.g. coal furnace), ensure there is sufficient air supply to the room where the appliance is installed.
- Regulations concerning the discharge of air have to be fulfilled.
- If there is not a stationary exhaust pipe or an exhaust duct, you must convert your appliance to recirculating mode.
Always consult your local chimney-sweep master.
Special measures recirculating mode
- The extracted air runs through a carbon filter (also named active carbon filter) back into the room. The carbon filter extracts the odours produced by cooking.
- The fresh air is leaded back by air outlets on the sides or on the back of the appliance.
- When you run the appliance in the recirculating mode, you can simultaneously run room-air dependent fireplaces.
Final safety instructions
- This appliance is designed for the use by adults only. Children must neither play around nor play with the appliance.

Setting of operation mode extractor mode-recirculation mode

WARNING!
Disconnect the appliance from the mains before you set or change the operation mode.
If the hood is installed without an exhaust duct it must run in recirculation mode only.
The air outlets on the upper front side must be open; otherwise the capacity of the hood is reduced.
The appliance is preset for recirculation mode.
Complaints caused by faulty-set operation mode cannot be accepted.
UBH PKM 3001 UBH PKM 5000/5001/5050
You can choose extractor mode as well as recirculation mode. You can choose one of these modes at the same time only.

Extractor mode:
After removing the small plastic plate / cover ^5 you (optionally) can install the adapter. Insert the exhaust hose into the adapter.
There is a small plastic plate inside the hood on the front left side of the plastic housing to change the operating mode ( pull slightly and insert into the next opening ).Before you remove the aluminium filter to set the desired model disconnect the appliance from the mains.
The appliance is preset for recirculation mode (the opening on the front top side is open). If you want to run the appliance in extractor mode, you have to change the mode with the small plastic plate.
Extractor mode: the opening on the front top side must be closed.
Recirculation mode: the opening on the front top side is angular opened so the extracted air can escape.
Recirculation mode: the round plastic cover should cover the air outlet on the top of the appliance (for UBH PKM 5000 it is firmly mounted).
Recirculation mode: filtering by activated carbon filters is not arranged. It is possible to put a filter mat between grease filter and motor
Operating without filter mat does not cause damage to the motor and electric components.

➢ Recirculation mode: set controller in the centre to indoor position.
You can run the extractor hood with a carbon filter which prevents unwanted cooking smells.
It is not imperative to use a carbon filter.
Replace the filter, when it does not clean the air any longer ( approx. 3-6 months ).This depends on how often you use the hood.
Replace the carbon filter by removing the grease filter; then place the carbon filter on the socket (centre of the motor) by turning it clockwise.
The activated carbon filter has a central socket.
General instructions air duct
- The air duct should be as short and straight as possible.
- Extractor mode: installation with ventilation stack or air duct outwards only, wall penetration = 120 mm diameter, drilling about 130 mm diameter.
- The diameter of the exhaust hose should be at least 120 mm. Otherwise you have to expect increased noise and decreased capacity of your appliance.
- Ensure that the diameter is met if you need bends. Otherwise the capacity of your appliance will be decreased.
- Use smooth tubes or flexible, non-inflammable exhaust hoses only.
- If the air duct is connected horizontally, a minimum falling gradient of 1 cm/m or an inclination of 2^0 is required. Otherwise condensate will get into the motor of the hood (look at figure 1).
- When an exhaust duct is used the ending of the exhaust hose must be adjusted to the direction of flow.
- If the air duct passes through cool areas (e.g. an attic), a temperature gradient may occur in the different parts of the air duct so condensate will be generated. Proper insulation of the corresponding parts of the air duct will then be needed.
- Equip such an air duct with a condensate trap if need be.

11. GUARANTEE CONDITIONS
Guarantee conditions for large electric appliances UBH PKM GmbH & Co. KG, Neuer Wall 2, 47441 Moers
This appliance was made and checked according to the most modern production methods. This appliance includes a 24-month guarantee for the consumer given by the manufacturer, dated from the day of purchase, referring to its flawless material-components and its faultless fabrication.
The consumer is accredited with both the dues of the guarantee given by the manufacturer and the vendor's guarantees. These are not restricted to the manufacturer's guarantee. The guarantee is valid without prejudice to stringent legal liability regulations, e.g. the product liability law, in the case of malice and of wanton negligence in view of harm of life, body or health by UBH PKM or its agents.
The right on the guarantee is not granted, when the purchase is made in the course of a commercial activity.
The guarantee claim has to be verified by the vendee by submitting a proof of purchase including the date of purchase and/or the date of delivery. This has to be reported to us or in the Federal Republic of Germany to the shop you purchased the hood at. This report has to be made immediately after the detection and within 24 months after the delivery to the first ultimate vendee.
The guarantee for our appliances is valid under the following conditions:
Defects of the appliance which are verifiably caused by material or fabrication deficiency will be rectified free of charge by the shop you purchased the hood at. When the defect appears within 6 months we suppose that there is a material or fabrication deficiency.
Within the guarantee we will repair deficient components free of charge using components of our own choice or they will be replaced by flawless components. Appliances, which can, due to their dimensions, be reasonably transported by an automobile, should be given over or submitted to the shop you purchased the hood at.
If the repair work is refused by us or if the repair work finally fails, the old appliance, if requested, will be replaced by an appliance of the same kind, quality and type within the period of guarantee. If the old appliance is no longer produced at the time the defect occurred, UBH PKM will be entitled to deliver a similar appliance.
The exchange of the appliance principally takes place in the shop the first vendee bought the appliance in unless the appliance is too large to be transported by the vendee.
The guarantee does not establish any entitlement to withdraw from the purchase contract or for a price reduction.
Replaced components or exchanged appliances demise to us as our property.
The guarantee claim does not cover:
- fragile components as plastic, glass or bulbs;
-
minor modifications of the UBH PKM-products concerning their authorized condition if they do not influence the utility value of the product;
-
damage caused by handling errors or false operation;
- damage caused by aggressive environmental conditions, chemicals, detergents;
- damage caused by non-professional installation and haulage;
- damage caused by non common household use;
- damages which have been caused outside the appliance by a UBH PKM-product unless a liability is forced by legal regulations.
The validity of the guarantee will be terminated if:
- the prescriptions of the installation and operation of the appliance are not observed.
- the appliance is repaired by a non-professional.
- the appliance is damaged by the vendor, the installer or a third party.
- the installation or the start-up is performed inappropriately.
- the maintenance is inadequately or incorrectly performed.
- the appliance is not used for its intended purpose.
- the appliance is damaged by force majeur or natural disasters, including, but with not being limited to fires or explosions.
The guarantee claims neither extend the guarantee period nor initiate a new guarantee period. The guarantee period for installed replacement parts ends with the guarantee.
Provided that a product-related malfunction is not covered by this guarantee the vendee has to bear the cost, when the appliance is checked, including any labour costs that may arise.
If the holder of the guarantee has requested repair work, then the holder of the guarantee must be informed about the non-intervention of the guarantee and possible costs, that may arise, and thereafter he must bear all costs for spare parts and wages.
The geographical scope of the guarantee is limited with respect to appliances, which are purchased and used in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
