General information

Reading and storing the user manual

This user manual accompanies this sun shade sail and contains important information on assembly and handling. For improved readability, the sun shade sail will be referred to only as the “shade sail” below.

Before using the shade sail, read the user manual carefully. This particularly applies to the safety instructions. Failure to do so may result in personal injury or damage to the shade sail.

Store the user manual for further use. Make sure to include this user manual when passing the shade sail on to third parties.

Explanation of symbols

The following symbols and signal words are used in this user manual, on the shade sail or on the packaging.

Proper use

The shade sail is exclusively designed for providing protection against the sunshine or light rain. It is only intended for private use and not suitable for commercial purposes.

Only use the shade sail as described in this user manual. Any other use is considered improper and may result in damage to property or even personal injury.

The manufacturer or vendor cannot be held liable for damages incurred through improper or incorrect use. The shade sail is not a toy for children.

Safety instructions

NOTICE: Read all safety notes and instructions. Failure to do so may result in serious injury.

Risk of suffocation and choking!

If children play with the packaging, they may get caught in it and suffocate. If children put small parts from the assembly accessories in their mouth, they may swallow them and choke.

• Make sure that children do not play with the packaging.

Risk of injury!

If you assemble or use the shade sail improperly, it may result in personal injury.

• The shade sail may only be assembled by an adult.

• The shade sail may only be used with adult supervision and may not be used as a toy.

• Keep children away during assembly. Springs and other small parts are included. They may cause suffocation if swallowed or inhaled.

• Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by unsupervised children.
• If possible, choose a sheltered place for installation, for example, tree hedges or a house.
• Make sure there is enough space to walk underneath the shade sail and there are no tripping hazards.
• Remove all trapped water on the shade sail. It is recommended to take the shade sail down when raining.
• Do not leave the shade sail unattended after it has been assembled.
• Be careful not to trap your fingers while assembling the shade sail.
• Check regularly whether all parts are securely connected. If necessary, retighten the eye bolts on the wall.
• The shade sail is suitable for outdoor use only.
• Do not use the shade sail as a hammock or as a cradle for children.
• Do not rely on the shade sail as your only protection against the sun. Use sunscreen in addition to the shade sail.

CAUTION!

Risk of damage!

If you use the shade sail improperly, you could damage the shade sail.

- Do not install or use the shade sail in a bad weather condition, such as heavy rain or strong wind. The shade sail cannot load snow which will make it collapse under the weight. Take the shade sail down when the wind speed is expected to be greater than 25 mph (40 km/h) (fresh wind can be clearly heard with moving trees and branches).

• Do not cook or grill underneath the shade sail.
• Do not place open fire, grills, patio heaters and the like under or near the shade sail.
• Do not install any lamp directly under the shade sail. The heat from the lamp may damage the shade sail.
• Remove dirt regularly, such as tree leaves.

Checking the shade sail and package contents

NOTICE!

Risk of damage!

If you are not cautious when opening the packaging with a sharp knife or other pointed object, you may easily damage the shade sail.

- For this reason, be very careful when opening the packaging

1. Take the shade sail out of the packaging and check whether the shade sail or the individual parts exhibit damages. If this is the case, do not use the shade sail. Contact the manufacturer via the service address indicated on the warranty card.
2. Check to make sure that the delivery is complete (see Fig. A).

Assembling the shade sail

As wall materials vary, eye bolts used for fixing to the wall are not included. For advice on suitable eye bolts, contact your local specialized dealer.

1. Expand the shade sail 1 in front of the location where you want to install (see step 1 in Fig. B).
2. Measure on the wall with a measuring tape 5 to get the same length as the shade sail (see step 2 in Fig. B).

3. Make markings on the wall where you want to install eye bolts 6 (see step 3 in Fig. B).

4. Install eye bolts at all marked locations. Securely tighten the eye bolts with pliers 7 (see step 4 in Fig. B).

5. Cut the rope 2 into several pieces that are used for knotting (see Fig. C). Make sure the length of each piece is long enough.
6. Thread one end of each piece of the rope through a corresponding loop on the shade sail and then firmly tie in a knot (see step 1 in Fig. D).
7. Thread the other end of that piece of the rope through a spring 3 and then firmly tie in a knot (see step 2 in Fig. D).
8. Connect the other end of a spring with a snap hook 4 (see step 3 in Fig. D).
9. Hang up the shade sail onto the wall by connecting each eye bolt with a corresponding snap hook (see Fig. E).
10. Complete the rest of the installation following the above steps. Your shade sail is ready to use (see Fig. F).

Cleaning

WARNING!

Risk of damage!

If you use unsuitable cleaning agents or utensils, you could damage the shade sail.

- Do not use any aggressive abrasive, solvent-based, acid-based or chlorine-based cleaners.

1. Use a mild detergent and a soft cloth or sponge to clean the shade sail.
2. Let all parts dry completely before storing.

Storage

NOTICE!

Risk of damage!

Storing the shade sail in a damp area will allow mold and rust to form. This may permanently and irreparably damage the shade sail's functionality.

- Keep the shade sail away from moisture and frost.

• Store the shade sail in a dry and cool place. Avoid dust, water, extreme temperatures, high humidity and direct sunlight.
• Keep the shade sail away from children.

Disposing of the packaging
