How to install the paper roll?
Remove the printer compartment cover, lift the paper roll holder, place the roll, insert the paper end into the slot at the back of the calculator above the black bar, then press the paper feed key until it comes out. Use only quality paper to avoid jams.
How to replace the ink roller?
Turn off the calculator (switch to OFF). Remove the printer compartment cover. Lift the extraction tab of the used roller, remove it, insert the new roller and press lightly to lock it. Replace the cover. Do not recharge used rollers.
How to clear an entry error?
If you have not yet pressed an operation key, press CE to clear the erroneous entry, or the left arrow key to delete the last digit. If you have already pressed an operation key, press the opposite operation (e.g., if you pressed +, press -) to cancel the entry.
What to do when 'E' and ERROR message appear?
This indicates a division by zero error or overflow. Press C to clear the error. Memory is only cleared if the error occurred during a memory calculation.
How to calculate a percentage?
To calculate a percentage, enter the base number, press ×, enter the percentage, then press the % key. For example, for 15% of 49: 49 × 15 % displays 7.35. To calculate the percentage ratio, use the division key and %: 29.5 ÷ 25 % displays 118.
How to use the memory function?
Use M+ to add the displayed value to memory, M- to subtract it, MS to display the subtotal in memory without clearing it, and MT to display and clear the total in memory. For multiplication/division, press M+ or M- after the operation to store the result.
How to calculate gross profit margin with the GPM key?
Enter the cost, press GPM, enter the margin percentage, then press the percentage key. If you want a loss, enter a negative percentage (e.g., 33.3 +/-). The selling price is displayed. The printout shows the margin amount (Δ) and selling price.
How to set a tax rate?
Set the TAX switch to SET. Enter the rate (e.g., 15), then press the TAX+ or TAX- key to memorize. Then switch back to CALC. To add tax to an amount, enter the amount, then TAX+; to subtract, use TAX-.
How to use the decimal and rounding switches?
The DECIMAL switch sets the number of decimals: 0, 2, 3, 4, 6 or F (floating). The ROUND switch chooses the rounding mode: cut (down), 5/4 (standard rounding), or up (up). Position them before calculations as needed.
Can I use the calculator without paper?
Yes, but set the PRINTER switch to OFF to avoid damaging the printer. Calculations will be displayed on the screen without printing.

Installing the Paper Roll

  1. Remove the printer compartment cover.
  2. Lift the paper holder so that it extends behind the printer compartment.
  3. Remove any packing materials from the printer compartment.
  4. Replace the printer compartment cover.
  5. Plug the calculator into an electrical outlet.
  6. Set the power switch on the right side of the calculator to on () .
  7. Place the paper roll on the paper holder as shown below.
  8. Insert the end of the paper into the paper slot on the back of the calculator above the black "bar". To avoid paper jams, use quality bond paper.

  1. Feed the paper into the slot; then press and hold

Note To prevent damaging the printer (which may void the warranty), when operating the calculator without paper, move the PRINTER switch to OFF.

Replacing the Ink Roller

  1. Set the power switch on the right side of the calculator to off (O).
  2. Remove the printer compartment cover.
  3. Lift the removal tab on the old ink roller and remove the roller, as shown in the following illustration.

  1. Lower the new ink roller into the compartment and press down gently until it snaps into place.
  2. Replace the printer compartment cover.

Note Do not refill old ink rollers. New rollers are available from local retailers.

Using Decimals (DECIMAL Switch)

  • Lets you add and subtract numbers without entering the decimal point (key in 5321 to enter 53.21).

F The number of decimal places varies based on the result.

0,2,3,4,6 Sets the number of decimal places to 0, 2, 3, 4, or 6.

Rounding (ROUND Switch)

Results are rounded down (if DECIMAL = 1, 2.33 rounds to 2.3).
5/4 Results are rounded up or down, depending on the value and decimal setting (if DECIMAL = 2, 2.349 rounds to 2.35).
Results are rounded up (if DECIMAL = 1, 2.33 rounds to 2.4).

Entering a Tax Rate (TAX Switch)

SET Let's you enter a tax rate to perform tax calculations.

CALC Stores the tax rate.

Printing (PRINTER Switch)

OFF Calculations are displayed but not printed.

ON Calculations are displayed and printed.

IC Both the printer and item counter are active. To clear the item counter, press */T or MT.

GT Accumulates a running grand total of all calculations you perform until you clear the grand total. To print a grand total, press GT. To clear the grand total, press GT again.

Clearing Errors and Overflows

Correcting Entry Errors

If you have not pressed an operation key:

To clear an incorrect entry, press CE.
To clear the last digit, press

If you have pressed an operation key:
To cancel an incorrect entry, press the opposite operation key. This applies only to calculations involving + , , ^± , or ^- .

Error and Overflow Conditions and Indicators

If you divide by zero or calculate a selling price using a margin of 100% , an error occurs. The calculator prints ERROR 0.* and displays E and 0.

An overflow occurs if you calculate a result with too many digits for the calculator to display or print. When this occurs, the calculator:

  • Displays E and the first 12 digits of the result with a decimal point 11 places to the left of its correct position.
  • Prints ERROR and the first 12 digits of the result with the decimal shifted 11 places to the left of its correct position.

To clear an error or overflow, press C. The memory is not cleared unless the error or overflow occurred in a memory calculation.
