Operation

Connecting to the mains

Connect the machine to a mains socket using an extension lead. Connect the extension lead to the power socket on the machine. Fold out the spring loaded fastener from the socket, insert the extension lead and release the fastener.

Power switch

  • Push the green button (4) to start the shredder.
  • Push the red button (3) to turn the shredder off.

Note: The machine is equipped with a zero voltage breaker. This is to prevent the machine from starting accidentally after a power cut.

2 3 4 5

Rotational direction switch

The direction switch (5) can be used to back out twigs or other debris which has been caught in the shredder.

Note: This function must only be used when the shredder is turned off and is standing still.

  1. Set the switch (5) to the ↓ position for normal use.
  2. Set the switch (5) to the position to change rotational direction. The knives will rotate backwards which mean that the material that has been caught can be released and pulled backwards. In this setting the power button (4) has a return spring which stops the motor once the green start button is released.

Note: Always wait until the shredder comes to a complete stop before restarting it.

Overload protection

  1. If the shredder is overloaded i.e. if the blades are caught, the motor will stop within a few seconds. The overload protection will automatically cut off power. Wait at least 1 minute so that the motor has time to cool before pressing the reset button (2).
  2. Push the green button (4) to start the motor.

Adjusting the cutting plate

Distance: 0-0.5 mm 14 16 9 15

  1. Cutting plate adjustment screw

  2. Cutting plate

  3. Rotating blades
  4. Allen key (accessory)

The cutting mechanism consists of rotating blades and the cutting plate. For optimal results the distance between the blades and cutting plate should be 0–0.5 mm.

A half turn of the adjustment screw moves the cutting plate approx. 0.5 mm.

The distance is pre-adjusted by the manufacturer and does not need to be adjusted before using it for the first time.

After some time the results may become compromised, the cutting blade may then be adjusted in this way.

  • The motor should always be on when adjusting the cutting plate.
  • The machine should be set for normal feed when adjusting the cutting plate.

Adjusting the cutting plate

  1. Start the machine.
  2. Use the included allen key and turn the adjustment screw (9) slowly clockwise.
  3. Turn carefully until a scraping noise is heard and a minimal amount of aluminium shavings fall through the output chute.
  4. The space between the blades and cutting plate is now at 0 and is set for optimal shredding.

General use guidelines

  • Read and the follow safety instructions.
  • Use protective eyewear, hearing protection, protective gloves and sturdy work wear. Use preferably a helmet with a visor.
  • Material that you feed in will automatically be drawn in by the cutting blades. Warning! If overly long objects are placed into the machine there is a risk that the material will begin to whip. Keep a safe distance.
  • Feed in material from the rights side of the intake opening feeding in just the right amount of material so as not to clog the intake opening.
  • Wilted or damp garden waste which has lain for several days must be processed in alternating turns with branches. This will prevent clogging the intake opening.
  • Kitchen waste and other soft waste cannot be processed in the shredder but should be placed directly on the compost heap.
  • Branches with numerous twigs and leaves should be fed in entirely before attempting to feed in any more material.
  • Make sure to empty the catcher bag before the shredded material plugs the output chute.
  • The ventilation ports must be kept free of debris.
  • Avoid continuous feeding of bulky materials. This can lead to clogging of the blades.
  • If the blades become clogged: Use the direction switch to reverse the motor and consequently loosen the clogged material from the blades.

Storage and maintenance

  • Clean the machine at regular intervals. This will ensure many years of good operation.
  • Keep the ventilation ports clean while using the machine.
  • The plastic housing and other plastic parts can be cleaned by using a mild washing-up liquid and a moist cloth. Do not use strong detergents or solvents to clean the machine.
  • Never spray the shredder with water.
    • Water may under no circumstances get into the machine.
  • Check every now and then that the stand's assembly screws are tight.
  • If you plan not using the shredder for an extended period of time, lubricate the machine with a corrosion protective eco friendly lubricant.
  • Store the machine in a dry place.
  • Keep the machine out of children’s reach.
