Frequently Asked Questions - 19686 Lakeland

How do I set the timer for delayed brewing?
Press and hold the TIMER button until the clock flashes. Continue holding and press the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set the desired start time, then release. Press TIMER again; the LED light on the side will illuminate to confirm the timer is set. To deselect, press TIMER again.
How do I use the coffee bag basket?
Insert the notches on the sides of the coffee bag basket into the slots in the permanent filter until it clicks into place. Place a coffee bag (or pod) inside. For 250ml coffee use 1 pod; for 410ml or stronger coffee use 2 pods. Follow the 'Using the Single Cup' instructions.
What should I do if my coffee tastes too weak?
Add more ground coffee to the permanent filter. Use approximately 1 level tablespoon (15ml) per cup. If using coffee bags, ensure they are centred in the coffee bag basket. You can also select the Strong brew setting by pressing the Brew button.
How should I clean the coffee maker?
Unplug and allow to cool. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Wash removable parts (filter baskets, permanent filters, carafe, coffee bag basket) in warm soapy water. The carafe is dishwasher safe. Descale monthly: mix equal parts water and white vinegar (250ml each for carafe tank, 125ml each for cup tank), run through, then rinse with fresh water three times.
Can I use my own mug instead of the travel cup?
Yes, place your own cup on the drip tray. For shorter cups, lift out the drip tray and base, flip the base over, and rest the drip tray on top to raise it higher. Ensure the cup is no taller than the drip tray area.
Why is my coffee overflowing from the filter?
Possible causes: too much water in the water tank (use your cup or carafe to measure water), too much ground coffee (reduce amount), or the coffee is ground too finely. Also ensure the filter basket is correctly inserted with the notch in the groove.
How do I descale the water tank?
For the carafe tank: mix 250ml cold water and 250ml white wine vinegar, pour into carafe water tank, set switch to 'Carafe', place carafe on hot plate. Press On/Off to start, after 30 seconds press again to stop and leave for 30 minutes. Then switch on and let the mixture filter through. Repeat with clean water three times. For the single cup tank: use 125ml water + 125ml vinegar, follow same steps with switch set to 'Single Cup'.
Can I brew a carafe and a single cup at the same time?
No, the coffee maker only brews either a carafe or a single cup at one time. Use the switch on the side to choose between 'Carafe' and 'Single Cup'.
How does the brew strength function work?
Press the Brew button to select Strong; the display will show 'Strong'. This setting brews your coffee slower for a fuller flavour. Press the Brew button again to return to normal strength.
What if the coffee maker won't turn on?
Check that the appliance is plugged in and switched on at the socket. Ensure the water tank is filled (not empty) and, if using the carafe, that the carafe is correctly placed on the hot plate. If the issue persists, contact Lakeland customer care at 015394 88100.
