How can I charge the battery?

The battery can be charged in two ways: by using the hand crank (rotate at 120-130 rpm for about 70 minutes for a full charge) or by connecting an external DC power adaptor (5V, 300mA) to the DC In port.

Can I charge my mobile phone with this radio?

Yes, the KR 112 can charge many mobile phones via the supplied USB adaptor cable. Connect the cable to the device's output, select USB mode by pressing BAND/CELL repeatedly until the USB icon appears, then connect your phone's charging cable.

How do I set the clock?

In standby mode, press and hold the BAND/CELL button for 3 seconds. The hours will flash, adjust with CHANNEL UP/DOWN, press BAND/CELL to confirm. Then set minutes, then choose 12h or 24h display.

How do I use the flashlight?

Press the FLASHLIGHT ON/OFF button on top of the unit to turn the LED flashlight on or off. The flashlight also has an auto-off when battery is weak.

How do I activate the siren?

Press the SIREN button once to activate the siren and flashing red light. Press again to deactivate.

What is the AM frequency range and how do I change the step size?

The AM range is 522-1620 kHz (Europe) or 520-1710 kHz (USA). In standby, press and hold CHANNEL UP for 2 seconds to toggle between 9 kHz (Europe) and 10 kHz (USA) steps.

Can I replace the battery?

Yes, if the battery deteriorates and provides short usage, it can be replaced with a new rechargeable Lithium battery of the same type (3.7V / 800mAh).

1. Read Instructions - All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the appliance is operated.
2. Retain Instructions - The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference.
3. Heed Warnings - All warnings on the appliance and in the operating instructions should be adhered to.
4. Water and Moisture – Do not use the apparatus near water (e.g. bath tub, sink, swimming pool) or in wet places or tropical climates. Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on top of the apparatus. Do not expose the apparatus to dripping or splashing.
5. Setup – The apparatus should only be placed on a stable, flat surface. Do not let the apparatus fall down or expose it to shock.
6. Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The appliance should be mounted to a wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer.
7. Ventilation - The appliance should be situated so that its location or position does not interfere with its proper ventilation. Setting a safe volume level

• If you continually listen to loud music, your hearing gradually adapts to it and gives you the impression that the volume is lower.
  • What seems normal to you can be already for long time too loud and unhealthy.
  • To protect yourself from this, set the volume to a low level.
• Increase the volume slowly.
• Damage to your hearing can be extensive and cannot be reversed.
• If you notice a hearing problem, please consult a doctor.

Battery

This radio has a rechargeable battery inside (details see “Specifications”). The current battery status is shown in the icon in the top right corner of the LCD display. If this icon is flashing or if there is no more display at all, the battery is weak and needs to be recharged.

The battery can be recharged in 2 ways:

Charging by Hand Crank

To charge the battery by hand crank, simply fold out the hand crank on the back of the unit and crank at around 120 - 130 r/min in either direction.

While cranking, the CHARGING INDICATOR will be lit green.

To fully charge an empty battery, you need to crank for about 70 minutes at the above indicated speed.

Charging via DC

You can connect an external power adaptor with 5V, 300mA (not supplied) to the DC In on the radio to charge the battery.

Clock

To set the time, the radio needs to be in standby mode:

1. While the radio is in standby mode, press and hold for 3 seconds the BAND/CELL button. The hours will be flashing.
2. Set the current hours by pressing the CHANNEL UP or CHANNEL DOWN button.
3. Press the BAND/CELL button again to confirm. The minutes will be flashing.
4. Set the current minutes by pressing the CHANNEL UP or CHANNEL DOWN button.
5. Press the BAND/CELL button again to confirm. You can now select between 24h and 12h time display by pressing the CHANNEL UP or CHANNEL DOWN button.
6. Press the BAND/CELL button again to confirm. The time is now set and is shown in the display

Siren

• To activate the siren, press the SIREN button once. While the siren is on, the red siren light will be flashing as well.
- To turn the siren off, press the SIREN button once again.

Radio

1. To turn on the radio, press the POWER button.
2. Select the desired band (AM or FM) by pressing the BAND/CELL button.
3. Select a desired radio frequency by pressing the CHANNEL UP or CHANNEL DOWN button.

Press the button once to manually select a specific frequency.

Press and hold for 2 seconds the button to automatically tune to the next available radio station.

1. Fully extend the telescopic antenna for best reception.

2. Set the desired volume by pressing the VOL + or VOL - button.

3. To turn the radio off, press the POWER button.

Note:

The AM frequency range in the USA (520 - 1710kHz) is different from the one in Europe (522 - 1620kHz). Users need to set the range correctly depending on their location:

While in standby mode, press and hold for 2 seconds the CHANNEL UP button. The display will show either 9 kHz or 10 kHz. When in the USA, select 10 kHz by pressing CHANNEL UP. When in Europe, select 9 kHz by pressing CHANNEL UP.

Flashlight

• If the light seems dim, this means that the battery is weak. In this case you need to recharge it.
  • If a fully charged battery only provides for a short lighting time, it may be that the battery is deteriorating. In this case you need to change the battery to a new one.

Mobile Phone Charging

This radio enables you to charge many mobile phones (that can be charged via USB) with the supplied USB adaptor cable.

1. Connect the cinch connector of the USB adaptor cable to the output of the unit (underneath the rubber cover).
2. The other end of the USB adaptor cable is a female USB plug to which you can connect

your phone's USB charger cable.

1. Press the POWER button on the radio and then repeatedly the BAND/CELL button until the USB icon appears in the LCD.
2. The mobile phone battery will now be charged from the radio.
3. Once the charging is finished, disconnect all cables to avoid damage.

Also please exit the USB mode by pressing the BAND/CELL button to select AM or FM, and then pressing the POWER button to switch off the radio.

Notes:

• The charging time varies from phone to phone, depending on the phone's battery.
• If the battery of the radio is too weak, charging a phone will not be possible. You need to charge the radio's battery first.
• If the charging does not seem to work, check whether all cables are properly connected.
