1. Read Instructions - All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the appliance is operated.
2. Retain Instructions - The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference.
3. Heed Warnings - All warnings on the appliance and in the operating instructions should be adhered to.
4. Water and Moisture – Do not use the apparatus near water (e.g. bath tub, sink, swimming pool) or in wet places or tropical climates. Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on top of the apparatus. Do not expose the apparatus to dripping or splashing.
5. Setup – The apparatus should only be placed on a stable, flat surface. Do not let the apparatus fall down or expose it to shock.
6. Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The appliance should be mounted to a wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer.

Power Supply

Li-Ion Battery (included)

Open the battery compartment on the back of the unit and insert the supplied Li-Ion battery (3.7V, 800mAh) in the direction as indicated inside the compartment. Close the battery compartment again.

Notes:

• When you use the unit for the first time, make sure to charge the battery by connecting the unit with the battery inserted to a standard USB port (e.g. on a computer) using the supplied USB charging cable. While charging the display will show a battery icon, indicating the charging status.
• The battery status can always be seen in the display. If the battery power becomes low it needs to be recharged by connecting the unit using the supplied USB charging cable to a

standard USB port (e.g. on a computer). The charge time is around 3 to 3.5 hours.

• The playback time of the supplied battery is approximately 3.5 hours in max. volume and approximately 5.5 hours in middle volume.
• When the unit is not in use for a longer period of time, remove the battery to avoid damage to the unit or battery.

AAA Batteries (not included)

Open the battery compartment and take out the Li-Ion battery in case it is inserted. You can now insert 3x AAA size batteries (1.5V). Make sure to insert the batteries according to the indicated polarity (+ and -).

Notes:

• Use batteries of the same type. Never use different types of batteries together.
• When the unit is not in use for a longer period of time, remove the batteries to avoid damage.
• If you are using rechargeable batteries, these cannot be charged inside this unit.

USB

With no batteries inserted, the unit can also be operated by connecting it to a standard USB port (e.g. a computer) using the supplied USB charging cable.

Basic Functions

Switching the Unit On & Off

1. Power the unit in one of the ways as described above.
2. To switch the unit on, press the POWER button once.
3. To switch the unit off into standby mode, press the POWER button once.
4. To fully switch off the unit, press and hold the POWER button. The display will switch off completely.

Display Backlight

• During use, the display backlight will dim down to low setting automatically after about 25 seconds. Whenever a button is pressed, the backlight will light up and then dim down again after the same interval.
• In standby mode the display backlight will dim down automatically to low setting after about 20 seconds.

Mode Selection (Switching Between DAB+ and FM)

- With the unit switched on, press the MODE button to switch between DAB+ and FM mode.

Volume Control

• To increase the volume, press the VOLUME+ button.
• To decrease the volume, press the VOLUME-button.

Clock Setting

The clock in this radio is equipped to receive a DAB radio frequency time signal. After the unit has been turned on, it will automatically tune into a DAB radio station and update the clock. It may be necessary to wait for 1-2 minutes to allow the unit to receive the time signal.

Key Lock

• In radio mode press and hold SELECT for 5 seconds to activate the key lock function

(display shows a lock icon), all keys will be locked and show no function.

• To deactivate the key lock function, press and hold SELECT again for 5 seconds (lock icon disappears from display).

Menus

The following controls are used to navigate the menu tree to choose and select the required settings:

• Press and hold for 2 seconds the INFO/MENU button while the unit is in DAB+ or FM mode to enter the main menu.
• Navigate the menu using the ◀ LEFT / ▶ RIGHT buttons.
• Press the SELECT button to enter sub-menus or items and to confirm settings.
• To exit the menu, do not press any buttons for a few seconds. The unit will switch back to radio mode.

DAB+ Mode

First Use and Operation

1. Power and switch on the radio as described above. When switching the radio on for the first time, it will automatically enter DAB+ mode and perform the auto scan function to search for available radio stations.
2. During the scan the display shows "Searching..." together with a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the number of stations that have been found so far.
3. Once the scan is finished the radio will select and play the first alphanumerically found station.
4. You can now press the ◀ LEFT / ▶ RIGHT buttons to explore the found stations followed by pressing the SELECT button to play the selected station.

Auto and Manual Scan

• To automatically scan again for available stations, press the SCAN button.
- For manual scan, press and hold the INFO/MENU button to enter the menu, select "Manual tune" and press SELECT. Now you can select between desired frequencies (5A-13F) using the ◀ LEFT / ▶ RIGHT buttons. Press SELECT to enter a selected channel.

DAB+ Menu

While in DAB+ mode you can enter the main menu by pressing and holding for about 2 seconds the INFO/MENU button. Navigate through the menu and confirm settings as described above.

The menu options are the following:

DAB+ Display Modes

Every time you press the INFO/MENU button in DAB+ mode, the display will cycle through the following display modes (shown in the bottom line of the display):

Signal Strength, Time/Date, DLS, Program Type, Ensemble Name, Ensemble Frequency, Audio Bit Rate.

FM Mode

EN

1. Power and switch on the radio as described above.
2. Press the MODE button to switch to FM mode.
3. To automatically search for the next available radio station, press the SCAN button.

To automatically search for the previous available radio station, press and briefly hold the SCAN button.

The unit will search for the next/previous available station and stop automatically once a station has been found.

1. To manually search for a station, press the ◀ LEFT or ▶ RIGHT button repeatedly. Each press adjusts the frequency by 0.05 MHz.

FM Menu

While in FM mode you can enter the main menu by pressing and holding for about 2 seconds the INFO/MENU button. Navigate through the menu and confirm settings as described above. The menu options are the following:

Reset the product to its factory settings (all user settings will be erased).	Shows the software version currently installed.

FM Display Modes

Every time you press the INFO/MENU button in FM mode, the display will cycle through the following display modes (shown in the bottom line of the display):

Radio Text, Program Type, Signal Strength, Time/Date, Frequency, Mode (Mono/Stereo).

Storing and Recalling Stored Stations (in DAB+ and FM Modes)

This function allows up to 10 stations to be programmed into the memory and stored in both DAB+ and FM mode.

1. To store a preset, first tune to your desired station (DAB+ or FM mode), then press and hold the PRESET button for 2 seconds. The display will show "Preset Empty 1" with the "1" flashing.
2. Press the ◀ LEFT or ▶ RIGHT button to select your desired station preset number.
3. Press the SELECT button to confirm your selection. The station currently broadcasting has now been stored in the selected location.
4. Repeat the above steps to store more stations.
5. To select a preset station, first press the PRESET button once and then press the LEFT or RIGHT button to scroll up or down the presets that you have stored, and press the SELECT button to confirm. If any preset has not been allocated "Preset Empty" will be shown in the display.

Signal Strength & Quality

In both DAB+ and FM modes it is possible to display the signal strength. This is helpful when setting up the radio and adjusting the antenna.

- To display the signal strength in either DAB+ or FM mode, repeatedly press the INFO/MENU button until the display mode "Signal Strength" is reached.

- The signal strength is shown in the bottom line of the display:

The further to the right the bar is reaching, the better is the signal strength.

The empty bar indicates the minimum signal strength necessary for an optimal reception.

Alarm Function

This unit enables you to set 2 different and independent alarm times. You can even set an alarm to ring Daily, Weekdays, Weekends, or Once.

1. To set an alarm, press the ALARM button once to set Alarm1, or twice to set Alarm2.
2. OFF will be flashing. Press the ◀ LEFT or ▶ RIGHT button to select ON and then press SELECT to confirm.
3. The hour will be flashing. Press the ◀ LEFT or ▶ RIGHT button to set the hour of the alarm time and then press SELECT to confirm.
4. The minute will be flashing. Press the ◀ LEFT or ▶ RIGHT button to set the minute of the alarm time and then press SELECT to confirm.
5. The Alarm Mode will be flashing. Press the ◀ LEFT or ▶ RIGHT button to select between Once, Daily, Weekdays, or Weekends and then press SELECT to confirm.
6. The Alarm Type will be flashing. Press the ◀ LEFT or ▶ RIGHT button to select between BEEPER1, BEEPER2, DAB, or FM and then press SELECT to confirm.
7. The Alarm Volume will be flashing. Press the ◀ LEFT or ▶ RIGHT button to select the desired alarm volume and then press SELECT to confirm.
8. The alarm setting is now complete and the unit will return to the last mode.

Deactivating an Alarm

1. To deactivate an alarm, press the ALARM button once or twice to go to the Alarm1 or Alarm2 setting.
2. While ON is flashing, press the ◀ LEFT or ▶ RIGHT button to select OFF and then press SELECT to confirm.
3. The alarm is now deactivated.

Stopping an Alarm

• To stop an active alarm, press the POWER button. The unit will return to standby mode.

Snooze

1. When your alarm is ringing, you can press the SELECT button to temporarily suspend the alarm. "Z" will be shown in the display. The alarm will ring again 6 minutes later (the Snooze interval time is 6 minutes).
2. Snooze will be repeated until the POWER button is pressed.

Notes:

- For the alarm to work properly, a time signal must have been received from a DAB station.

- The alarm only works with the unit in standby mode. If the unit is switched off completely, the alarm will not sound.

- If DAB is selected for Alarm Type but no station is being received, the alarm will not sound.

Headphone Jack

A headphone jack is located at right side of the unit. When the unit is powered on and playing music, you can connect earphones (not included) to the headphone jack for your private listening. Mind the safety information from page 12 on.

With headphones connected the unit's speaker is disabled. To listen via the speaker again, disconnect the headphones.
