OPEARTING THE MOWER
Preparing the workplace
Before starting work, clear away all visible stones, roots, wires and other obstacles that could be caught by the rotating blades and damage the machine. Particular attention must be paid to electrical cables to ensure that they do not enter the work zone. Leaving electrical cables in the working area can lead to electric shock or even death as a result of contact with the rotating mower blades.
Preparing for operation
Before starting work, check that the machine is not damaged, is correctly assembled and that all safety components are correctly attached. If the machine is found to be incomplete or damaged, further work is prohibited!
ATTENTION! Only the amount of oil needed for engine maintenance was poured into the engine. Before the first start-up, the oil must be topped up to the required level.
In a factory state, there is only a small amount of oil in the engine to protect it during transport and storage. Prepare oil for four-stroke engines in viscosity class SAE 15W40.
Before replenishing the oil, place the machine on a flat surface, then unscrew the oil tank cover and wipe the oil bayonet attached
EN
to it dry. Fill the tank with oil. When filling, it is recommended to use a funnel or filler nozzle to avoid spilling oil. In case of spilling the oil, thoroughly wipe off its residues before starting the engine. Check that the level is appropriate. To do this, insert the bayonet into the inlet and screw the tank cover. Then unscrew it and check the oil level on the bayonet. The oil level should be between the maximum and minimum levels on the bayonet (XX). After making sure that the oil level is correct, close the inlet with a cap.
Caution! Check the oil level before each use.
After refilling oil, refill fuel. Use 95-octane unleaded petrol or better. To refuel, unscrew the fuel tank cover and pour the fuel into the tank. When filling fuel, it is recommended to use a filler nozzle or funnel to reduce the risk of fuel splashes. If the fuel is splashed, thoroughly wipe off its residues. Wait until the vapours have completely evaporated and carry out the start-up at a different place than at which the fuel was filled. Close the fuel tank inlet with the cover after filling.
Cutting height adjustment (X)
Warning! If you need to change the cutting height during operation, always switch off the lawnmower first, wait for the blade to stop and then change the cutting height. Accidental starting of the blade during a height adjustment may result in serious injury.
It is possible to set one of several grass cutting heights. The lawnmower is equipped with a lever that allows you to change the cutting height easily and quickly. Slide the lever to the side by pulling it out of the guide seat. Then move forwards or backwards and, once the desired height has been set, move the lever to the side, locking its position in the guide seat. The mowing height range for a given mower model is given in the technical data table.
The YT-85545 model features height adjustment at the front and back of the machine. The cutting height at the back of the machine is set using the height setting lever as described above, while the cutting height at the front of the machine is set by fixing the front wheel at the correct level, as described in the instructions section "Front wheel assembly (YT-85545)". Make sure that the cutting height at the front and back of the mower is the same.
Starting the combustion engine
The blade starts to rotate as soon as the engine is started.
Caution – Do not touch the rotating blade!
If the mower is equipped with a fuel pump, push it 3 times (XI).
If the mower is equipped with a throttle lever, move the throttle lever to the START position (XIII).
Stand behind the mower. Pull the motor safety brake lever against the handle (XII). Remember to keep the emergency brake lever pulled against the handle when starting the mower and during operation to prevent the engine from shutting down.
Caution! For models equipped with a drive, please note that the drive engagement lever must be released to prevent the mower's drive from engaging when starting the mower.
Pull the starter pull cord smoothly until you feel the resistance caused by the engine compression, which is when you should pull it vigorously and firmly (XIV). After a few pulls, the engine should start.
Once the engine has started, the starter cord handle should not be released from the hand, it should be brought to the lower position or hooked to the hook on the mower handle (XIV).
For models equipped with a throttle lever, as the engine warms up, move the lever to the running position, between the hare symbol, for faster revs, and the tortoise symbol for slower revs. Allow the engine to start running smoothly every time you reposition the throttle lever. The rate at which the throttle lever should be reversed depends on the ambient temperature in which you start the engine. The lower the ambient temperature, the slower the lever should be reversed.
Starting the combustion engine with the push of a button (applies to model YT-85533)
The blade starts to rotate as soon as the engine is started.
Caution – Do not touch the rotating blade!
On a mower with electric start, starting with a push-button is possible. The battery supplied with the mower must be installed to power the starter. The battery should be charged for starting.
Open the battery cover located in the centre of the shelf in the mower handle. Slide the battery into the battery socket guide until it latches in the socket. Make sure that the battery will not slide out on its own during operation. Close the battery cover. Press the fuel pump 3 times (XI). Move the throttle lever to the START position (XIII). Pull the motor safety brake lever against the handle (XII). Remember to keep the emergency brake lever pulled against the handle when starting the mower and during operation to prevent the engine from shutting down. Press the electric start button (XV). If the mower engine does not start the first time, wait at least one minute before trying to start the engine again.
Switching on the mower drive (applies to models equipped with a drive function)
The drive function of the mower is available when the machine is started. Please note that the engine safety brake lever must be pulled against the handle at all times when the drive is engaged and during operation to prevent the motor from shutting down.
To engage the drive of the mower, pull the drive engagement lever against the handle (XVI).
To disengage the mower drive, release the drive engagement lever.
EN
Stopping the engine
On models fitted with a throttle lever, move the lever to the position marked with the turtle symbol.
Let go of the engine emergency brake lever.
Wait until the blade stops rotating.
Allow all engine and mower components to cool, disconnect the spark plug and proceed with maintenance.
Refuelling
ATTENTION! The fuel is highly flammable! Do not fill the fuel tank while the machine is running. Do not refuel near an open flame. Do not spill fuel. In the event of a fuel spillage, dry up the spilled fuel thoroughly before starting the mower. Tighten the fuel filler cap firmly and securely.
Stop the engine according to the procedure described above.
Allow the engine to cool down.
Use 95-octane unleaded petrol or better. To refuel, unscrew the fuel tank cover (XVII) and pour the fuel into the tank.
Re-start the engine according to the procedure "Start-up of the combustion engine".
Operation of the lawnmower
Before starting work, prepare the grass mowing area. Check that there are no obstacles in the mowing area that could be caught by the blade and damage the lawnmower, or be ejected and pose a risk to an operator or bystanders.
Check that there are no electrical cables in the work area that could be cut by the blade. Damage to an electrical cable presents a risk of electric shock, which can lead to serious injury or death.
Make sure that there are no bystanders or pets in the work area. If such persons appear during operation, stop the lawnmower immediately and only then warn people of the danger.
Check the grass length and adjust the cutting height. Never cut more than 1/3 of the grass length. If the grass is very long, it should be cut in stages. Mowing must be carried out regularly to ensure that the grass length does not exceed the capabilities of the lawnmower.
Never cut wet grass. Wet grass tends to stick inside the product, which interferes with its accumulation in the catcher. Wet grass can also cause slipping and falling.
Check all lawnmower components before starting work. In case the damage is detected, do not start work before removing the damage or replacing the damaged components with new ones. Make sure that the ventilation openings are clear. If necessary, clean them with a soft cleaning tool or brush. Do not use sharp or metal objects for cleaning the product ventilation openings.
Check the tightness of the screw connections. Tighten if necessary.
Check that the handlebars are clean, free of grease and other contamination. If necessary, clean them with a soft cloth.
Take regular breaks during work to avoid fatigue and overwork. This will allow better product control and reduce the risk of accidents.
Caution! Always push the lawnmower while working; never pull towards yourself. Pulling the lawnmower causes the operator to move backwards, which means he does not control the area behind him.
Push the lawnmower slowly; always walk, never run. This will give you better control of the lawnmower and reduce the response time to unexpected events.
During mowing, move along the rows (XVIII). Rows should be kept equal in width, slightly overlapping so as not to leave any space. Take special care when changing the direction.
When cutting the grass near the flower beds, move around them.
Empty the catcher regularly during operation.
When finished, switch off the mower, wait for the blade to stop, allow the mower to cool down, disconnect the spark plug and then proceed with maintenance.
Caution! If a foreign object hits the lawnmower during operation, Switch off the mower immediately, wait for the blade to stop, allow the mower to cool down and disconnect the spark plug. Then check the lawnmower for damage. If the damage is detected, it is forbidden to continue working before removing the damage. Excessive vibration during operation can be caused by the lawnmower damage. In that case, stop working, disconnect the spark plug cable, and check the product.
MOWER MAINTENANCE
Warning! Before carrying out maintenance, switch off the mower, wait for the blade to stop, allow the mower to cool down and then disconnect the spark plug. Use personal protective equipment such as protective gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing during the maintenance.
During the warranty period, the user cannot disassemble the tool or replace other assemblies or components than those listed
EN
below, as this will result in the loss of warranty rights. Any irregularities found during the inspection or the operation signal the need for repair to be done at the service centre. After each transport and after every 25 hours of operation, check that the tightness of the screw connections is correct.
After finishing work, the housing, ventilation openings, switches, auxiliary handle and covers should be cleaned e.g. with an air jet (with a pressure not exceeding 0.3 MPa), paintbrush or dry cloth without the use of chemicals and cleaning agents. The product cannot be cleaned with a water jet or by immersion in water. Clean the tools and handles with a clean and dry cloth.
Replacing the blade
Check for wear and damage to the blade. If excessive wear or damage is observed, replace the blade with a new one. The blades will lose the paint coating during operation. This is a normal phenomenon and does not indicate damage to the blades. Lack of paint coating, however, makes the blades more susceptible to corrosion. Therefore, each time after cleaning, they should be covered with a thin layer of anti-corrosion agent or a thin layer of light mechanical oil.
Always replace the blades with the original ones, identical to the ones installed in the mower at the factory.
Only the use of original spare parts can maintain product safety. The blade should be replaced by an experienced user. To do this, contact an authorised service centre of the manufacturer.
The blade should be replaced every two years or 50 hours. Depending on the model, it is possible to use the blade listed under “Spare parts” in the manual.
To replace the blade, unscrew the blade retaining screw (XIX).
Remove the old blade, clean the blade mount and fit the new blade so that the tabs on the mount go into the blade holes. Tighten the fixing screw using a torque spanner and applying a torque of 37 Nm.
Checking the oil level
Unscrew the oil cap and remove the oil level indicator (XX).
Clean and dry the indicator with a clean cloth.
Insert the indicator back into the hole, but do not turn it. Then remove and check the oil level indicated.
If the indicated level is too low, the oil must be topped up to the upper level of the indicator (dashed box).
Screw the indicator into the oil filling hole.
Changing the engine oil
The first engine oil change should be carried out after 2 to 4 hours of operation. Subsequent oil changes should be performed every 25 hours of operation.
Note! It is best to change the oil immediately after stopping the engine, when the oil is thinnest and flows most easily from the transmission chamber.
Caution must be exercised – hot oil can cause burns.
Depending on the mower model, the oil change should be performed in one of the following ways:
Models equipped with a drain hole (YT-85528, YT85532, YT-85545):
Place a container larger than the oil tank capacity under the drain hole. Using a wrench, fully unscrew the drain valve (XXI) and allow the oil to flow freely. Then screw the drain valve back in and wipe the remaining oil dry.
Models without a drain hole (YT-85520, YT-85521, YT-85525, YT-85533, YT-85537):
For models not equipped with a drain hole, the oil must be removed using a commercially available oil extractor, following the extractor manufacturer's instructions. After unscrewing the oil filler cap, insert the extractor tube into the filler opening and extract the oil. Repeat the operation several times until all the oil has been removed. After completing the extraction, wipe the oil residues dry. After removing the old oil, refill the tank according to the procedure described in the "Preparation for Use" section.
Note! Used engine oil must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Pouring oil into the sewage system is prohibited.
Air fi Iter maintenance (XXII) - every 25 hours of operation
Unscrew the air filter retaining nut and remove the filter cover or unlock the retaining lugs and open the filter housing. Remove the filter and then replace it with a new one. Depending on the model, it is possible to use the filter listed in the “Spare parts” table.
Install the filter in place and fix the filter cover. Ensure that the filter housing is tightly closed, that the retaining nut is firmly and securely screwed on or that all the housing lugs are in place.
Spark plug maintenance (XXIII) - every 100 hours of operation
Disconnect the cable from the spark plug. Unscrew the spark plug with the spark plug wrench. Use a wire brush to clean carbon deposits off the electrodes (so-called combustion deposits). Check the distance between the electrodes, it should range between 0.7 mm and 0.8 mm.
If burned electrodes or the ceramic casing is broken, replace the spark plug with a new one. Depending on the model, it is possible to use a spark plug listed in the "Spare parts" table.
Screw in the spark plug. Connect the cable to the spark plug.
EN
Wheel replacement (XXIV)
If the mower wheel is damaged, it must be replaced with a new defect-free wheel. Depending on the mower model, it is possible to use the wheel listed in the "Spare parts" table. To replace the wheel, pivot the wheel cover at the small cut-out, e.g. using a screwdriver. Unscrew the wheel fixing nut using a suitable spanner. Remove the wheel. Pay attention to the shims, which must be put in place when fitting a new wheel. Fit the new wheel, then tighten the retaining nut. Install the decorative cap.
Mower maintenance
Before and after each use, check the patency of the vents and clean them if necessary.
The bin should be emptied of grass residue and debris after each use.
Remove grass residue and dirt from the cutting blade with a soft cloth. Apply a thin layer of oil to the cleaned blade to prevent corrosion.
If the mower is equipped with a water connection, it is possible to clean the inside of the mower of grass residue and dust. The water connection allows the connection of a garden hose with running water (XXV). Washing of the inside of the mower is done with the engine running. The blade will spread the water around the inside of the mower guard to clean it.
Storing the mower
Place a container with a capacity greater than that of the oil tank underneath the drain opening.
Use a spanner to unscrew the fuel drain valve (XXVI). After emptying the mower of fuel, turn the fuel drain valve off.
Change the oil according to the procedure described under "Changing the oil"
Pull the starter pull cord so that the engine makes a few revolutions.
Stop pulling the rope when you feel resistance.
Clean the outside of the mower. Preserve with an anti-rust agent.
Store the mower in a dry, well-ventilated and covered room. The place of storage should protect the tool from access by children.
The product should be stored at a temperature between 10^ C and 30^ C. It is recommended that the product is stored in its original packaging or another packaging that protects it from dust.
Store the mower in a horizontal position.
Transporting the mower
Transport the machine while grasping the handle. In the case of transporting it by the means of transport, the mower must be secured against movement.
Protect the product from impacts and strong vibrations during transport. The mower must be transported in a horizontal position.

Safety instructions for battery charging
Caution! Before starting charging, make sure that the power unit body, cable and plug are not cracked or damaged. It is forbidden to use a defective or damaged charging station and power unit! Use only the supplied charging station and power unit to charge the batteries. The use of another power unit may result in fire or damage to the tool. The battery should only be charged in a closed, dry room, protected against unauthorised access, especially by children. Do not use the charging station and power unit without the constant supervision of an adult! If you need to leave the room where the product is being charged, disconnect the charger from the mains by removing the power unit's plug from the mains socket. If smoke, suspicious odours, etc. are escaping from the charger, remove the charger plug from the mains socket immediately!
The tool is supplied with an uncharged battery and should therefore be charged according to the procedure described below with the included power unit and charging station before use. Li-ion (lithium-ion) batteries do not have the so-called “memory effect”, which means they can be recharged at any time. However, it is recommended to discharge the battery during normal operation and then charge it to full capacity. If, due to the nature of work, it is not possible to use the battery in such a manner every time, it should be done at least every several work cycles. Never discharge any batteries by short-circuiting the battery plates, as this will cause irreparable damage! In addition, do not check the battery charge status by short-circuiting the electrodes and checking their sparking.
Storing the battery
Ensure proper storage conditions to extend the battery's life. The battery can last for approximately 500 charge-discharge cycles. Store the battery at a temperature ranging from 0^ C to 30^ C at a relative air humidity of 50%. Charge the battery to approx. 70% of its total capacity to store it for a longer period of time. In case of prolonged storage, the battery should be periodically charged once a year. Do not over-discharge the battery as this will shorten its life and may cause irreparable damage.
During storage, the battery will gradually discharge due to leakage. The self-discharge process depends on the storage temperature – the higher the temperature, the faster the discharge process. If the batteries are stored incorrectly, the electrolyte may leak. In case of leakage, secure the leak with a neutralising agent. In the case of electrolyte contact with eyes, rinse eyes thoroughly with water, and immediately seek medical attention. It is not allowed to use the tool with a damaged battery. If the battery is completely worn, return it to a specialist waste disposal centre.
Transporting the batteries
Lithium-ion batteries are treated as hazardous goods according to legal regulations. The user of the tool can transport the product together with the battery and the batteries alone by land. In that case, no additional conditions have to be met. If you entrust transport to third parties (e.g. a courier company), follow the regulations regarding the transport of hazardous goods. Before shipping, please contact a properly qualified person. It is not allowed to transport damaged batteries. For the duration of transport, remove the demountable batteries from the product and secure the exposed contacts, e.g. by covering them with insulation tape. Protect the batteries in the packaging in such a way that they do not move inside the packaging during transport. National regulations for the transport of hazardous materials must also be observed.
