How to assemble the Chapin 8700G spreader?

The spreader is pre-assembled. Simply attach the crank: remove the nut, slide the handle into the plastic base, tighten the nut, then insert the handle into the equipment and turn clockwise. Use a 14 mm wrench to tighten the nut properly.

How to fill the hopper?

Make sure the valve is closed before filling the hopper with the desired material (fertilizer, seeds, etc.).

How to adjust the spreading flow rate?

Lower the spreader lever into the corresponding slot. The positions are: 1/4 in, 1/2 in, 3/4 in, and full opening. Refer to the adjustment table for the material type.

What are the recommended settings for granular fertilizer?

For granular fertilizer or a small product: use fine slot in position 1 or coarse slot in position 2.

How to use the spreader correctly?

Put on the shoulder strap, place the unit on your chest, adjust the strap, then turn the crank with a steady motion while walking at a regular pace for even distribution.

How to close the valve?

Simply lift the lever so the spring returns the valve to the closed position.

How to adjust the spreading direction?

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

The Chapin 8700 Chest Spreader is preassembled at our factory, leaving only the crank handle for you to attach. To attach, remove nut, slide handle through plastic base and fully tighten the nut. Insert handle into gear and turn clockwise to tighten. Use a 14mm wrench to snug the nut against the gear. (Fig. A)

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1) Make sure the Gate is closed before filling hopper.
2) Fill hopper with material.
3] Place shoulder strap over shoulder and snap buckle into base. Place unit on chest and adjust the strap.
4) Select spreader lever position and lower into slot to set size of gate opening (Fig. B). Slot positions allow for 1/4", 1//2", 3/4" and full open
5) Crank the handle maintaining a steady clockwise motion and walk a consistent pace to spread the material evenly.
6) Adjust side baffle as needed (Fig. C).
7) Adjust Gate location as needed (Fig. C).
8) To close the Gate, simply flip up lever and allow spring to return it to closed position.
