Frequently Asked Questions - K 5 Power Control Flex Home Kärcher

How to put the Kärcher K 5 Power Control Flex Home high-pressure cleaner into service?
Place the device on a flat surface, fully unwind the high-pressure hose, connect it to the gun until an audible click. Connect the garden hose to the water inlet and open the tap. Plug into the mains, set the switch to I/ON, unlock the gun and press the trigger. The device starts automatically.
How to use detergent with this cleaner?
Remove the cap from the Plug 'n' Clean bottle and push it upside down into the designated holder. Use the Vario Power lance and turn it to the MIX position (shown on the gun). Spray detergent at low pressure, let it act, then rinse at high pressure. After use, empty the bottle and rinse the device with clean water for 30 seconds.
What to do if the device does not start?
First check that the gun trigger is pressed (the device only starts when pressed). Ensure the voltage matches the rating plate and that the cable is not damaged. If the motor is overloaded, the thermal protection may have cut off the device: set the switch to 0/OFF, wait 1 hour, then try again.
How to bleed air from the device?
Turn on the device without a lance connected, press the gun trigger and wait up to 2 minutes until water flows without bubbles. Then release the trigger, lock it and connect the lance. This operation removes trapped air from the circuit.
Which pressure level to choose for different surfaces?
Use the display on the gun: HARD for stone patios, asphalt; MEDIUM for cars, bricks; SOFT for wood, bicycles; MIX for detergent. For painted surfaces, maintain a distance of at least 30 cm. Do not use the Rotabuse on tires or wood.
How to clean the water inlet filter?
Unscrew the water supply connection, remove the strainer with flat pliers, clean it under running water in the opposite direction of flow. Do not use sharp objects or wire brushes. Then reinstall the strainer and screw the connection back on.
How to store the device after use?
Release the trigger, close the water tap, press the trigger again for 30 seconds to release pressure. Lock the gun, set the switch to 0/OFF, unplug the mains. Separate the lance, hose, and store them on the device. Use the hose reel by turning the crank counterclockwise.
How to protect the device from freezing?
Before prolonged storage or in cold weather, fully drain the device and accessories. Disconnect the gun from the hose, turn on the device for a maximum of 1 minute without a lance to expel residual water, then turn off. Store the device in a frost-free location.
Why does pressure fluctuate or does the device leak?
Pressure fluctuations may be due to a clogged nozzle: clean it with a pin and rinse from the front. A slight leak is normal, but if it is significant, contact customer service. Also check that the water supply flow rate is sufficient (min. 10 l/min).
Which accessories can I use with this model?
Use only original Kärcher accessories. The model is compatible with Plug 'n' Clean detergent bottles, Power Control lances, surface cleaner, suction hose for open tank (ref. 2.643-100), and water filter (ref. 4.730-059). See www.kaercher.com for the full range.
