This section contains safety instructions to prevent hazards that can result in injury or property damage.

Failure to follow these instructions will void any warranty.

1.1 General safety

  • This appliance complies with international safety standards.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and over and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the safe use of the appliance and understand the hazards involved.

3 Installation and use

3.1 First operation

  1. Remove all packaging and labelling materials and dispose of them in accordance with the applicable law.
  2. When operating the appliance for the first time, fill with water to the maximum capacity but do not add coffee.
  3. Before using the appliance for the first time, carefully clean all of the parts that come in contact with water. Please see the details in the "Cleaning and Maintenance" section.
  4. Make sure your appliance is standing upright on a stable, smooth, clean, dry and non-slip surface.

3.2 Making drip coffee

Open the water reservoir lid and fill the reservoir with drinking water. Add a sufficient amount of water; do not go past the "MAX" marking. Then, close the water reservoir lid.

Open the lid on the coffee compartment and add enough coffee to make drip coffee. Then, close the coffee compartment lid.

Press the On/Off button. Brewing will begin. The LED indicator light will blink on and off while the coffee is being made. Your coffee is ready when the LED shines continuously.

3 Installation and use

  • If the LED indicator is shining continuously, your coffee is ready. The appliance will keep the coffee hot. Press the cancel button to start/stop the coffee heating function.
  • Use only clean, cold, and fresh drinking water.
  • One spoonful of coffee should be enough for one cup of coffee but you can change this according to your personal preference.
  • Use 0.125 l water for each cup of coffee. You can change this according to your personal preferences.

WARNING: If the hinged filter compartment does not close or if the carafe is placed incorrectly, the drip guard will not work properly. This may cause hot water or hot coffee to spill over.

  • You can keep your appliance connected to the mains even if the brewing is finished. This will keep the coffee hot. Even if you do not turn off the appliance after the coffee is brewed, it will power off automatically after 35 minutes.
  • For the ideal coffee taste, serve immediately after brewing.
  • You can stop the brewing at any time by pressing the On/Off button.

WARNING:

  • Be sure to put the carafe back on the hot plate quickly (max. 30 seconds). If not, the brewed coffee may spill out of the filter. Turn the appliance off if you want to use the carafe for more than 30 seconds.
  • Never open the hinged filter container while brewing even if no water is being drawn through the filter. Scalding hot water could pour out of the hinged filter compartment and injure you. If water is not leaving the hinged filter compartment, unplug the appliance immediately, wait 10 minutes, then open the filter compartment to check it.
  • When the brewing is finished and the water level indicator marked MAX is empty, there will still be hot liquid in the hinged filter compartment. Wait a few minutes for the remaining liquid to drain into the glass carafe.

To serve, remove the glass carafe once the brewing is complete (about one minute after the coffee has finished dripping).

Press the On/Off button to turn off the appliance.

Unplug the appliance.

Allow the appliance to cool for at least 15 minutes between each brewing operation.

Tips and Suggestions

  • Use soft or filtered water to prevent limescale from forming.
  • Store unused coffee in a cool and dry place. After opening a packet of coffee, close it tightly to stop air getting in and to keep it fresh.
  • Do not use the coffee grounds in the filter again and again because it loses its flavour.
  • As coffee tastes best when it is first brewed, reheating coffee is not recommended.
  • To serve, remove the glass carafe once the brewing is complete (about one minute after the coffee has finished dripping).

Turn the appliance off and unplug it. Allow the appliance to cool down completely.

Remove the glass carafe. Open the water reservoir lid. Remove the filter and filter basket by pulling upwards.

Empty the coffee grounds from the filter.

Clean the outside of the appliance with a soft damp cloth.

Use a mild detergent and running water to clean the filter basket, filter, and ca- rafe.

Dry all the parts after cleaning the appliance.

The glass carafe, filter basket,.and filter are dishwasher safe.

Turn the appliance upside down to drain any residual water. The, fill the appliance with clean water once and operate it empty. Make sure the appliance is cold when you do this.

4.2 Descaling

Descaling will prolong your appliance's life. Descale your drip coffee maker at least 4 times a year. This period depends on the hardness of the water you use. The harder the water, the more frequently you have to descale the appliance.

  1. Purchase an appropriate descaler from a specialist store. Please give the name of the appliance when asking for descaler.
  2. Carefully read the instructions on the packet of descaler before using it. If the manufacturer's instructions differ from those we have listed below, follow the manufacturer's instructions.

4.3 Storage

- If you do not plan to use the appliance for a long period of time, please store it carefully.

  • Ensure that the appliance is unplugged, cooled down completely.
  • Store the appliance in a cool and dry place.
  • Make sure the appliance is kept out of reach of children.
