2. Safety of use

CAUTION! Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or severe personal injury or death.
The term "unit" or "product" in the warnings and in the description of the instructions refers to the COFFEE URN.
2.1. Electrical safety
a) The plug of this unit must fit into the outlet. Do not modify the plug in any way. Original plugs and matching outlets reduce the risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid touching grounded parts, such as pipes, heaters, ovens, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded and touches the device exposed to direct rain, wet pavement, and operation in a humid environment. If water enters the device, there is an increased risk of damage to the device and electric shock.
c) Do not touch the unit with wet or damp hands.
d) Do not use the cord in an unintended manner. Never use it to carry the unit or to pull the plug out of the socket. Keep the cord away from heat sources, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or tangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) Do not use the unit if the power cord is damaged or shows signs of wear. A damaged power cord should be replaced by a qualified electrician or the manufacturer's service department.
f) To avoid electric shock, do not immerse the cable, plug, or unit itself in water or other liquid. Do not use the unit on wet surfaces.
g) Do not use the device in rooms with very high humidity / in the immediate vicinity of water tanks!

b) Do not use the appliance in an explosive area, for example in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. The appliance produces sparks that can ignite dust or fumes.
c) If you find any damage or irregularities in the operation of the unit, immediately turn it off and report it to an authorized person.
d) Only the manufacturer's service department may repair the unit. Do not carry out repairs yourself!
e) In case of open flames or fire, use only dry powder or snow (CO2) fire extinguishers to extinguish the live equipment.
f) No children or unauthorized persons are allowed in the work area. (Inattention may result in loss of control of the unit.)
g) Check the condition of the safety stickers regularly. Replace them if they are illegible.

3.2. Preparation for operation
POSITIONING OF THE UNIT
The ambient temperature must not exceed 40^ C and ambient humidity should not exceed 85%. Place the unit in a way that ensures good air circulation. Maintain a minimum clearance of 10 cm from any wall of the unit. Keep the unit away from any hot surfaces. Always operate the unit on a level, stable, clean, fireproof and dry surface and out of the reach of children and persons of impaired mental, sensory and intellectual functions. Place the unit in such a way that the mains plug can be reached at any time. Ensure that the power supply to the unit corresponds to that specified on the identification plate!
Before using the unit for the first time, disassemble all parts and wash them as well as the entire unit.
ASSEMBLY OF THE UNIT
- Unpack the entire unit.
- Place the unit on a suitable surface.
3.3. Working with the unit
- Open the cover of the machine, and then pull out the filter basket and the percolator tube. Pour the required amount of water into the tank. You can check the amount of water according to the water level indicator [l]/[number of cups]. Do not pour hot or warm water into the machine - pour cold water only.
- First moisten the filter basket. This prevents finely ground coffee from getting inside the unit. To add the correct amount of ground coffee powder, you can use a regular soup spoon or a measuring cup.
The use of evenly, medium ground coffee is recommended so that the brewed coffee will be tastier.
Below are the quantities of coffee powder according to the amount of coffee needed for a 9 l and 15 l machine.
| For a 9 l machine | |
| Necessary amount of brewed coffee [l] | Quantity of coffee powder [g]. |
| 3 | 170 |
| 5 | 280 |
| 7 | 390 |
| 9 | 500 |
| For a 15 l machine | |
| Necessary amount of brewed coffee [l] | Quantity of coffee powder [g]. |
| 6 | 400 |
| 9 | 600 |
| 12 | 800 |
| 15 | 1000 |
-
Place the filter basket on the percolator tube. Grasp the upper end of the tube and properly insert the lower end of the tube into the heating section at the bottom of the unit. (Note: the bottom end of the tube must be correctly placed in the recess, otherwise the filtering function will fail). Then attach (tighten) the cover of the unit. Connect the power cord to the power source and turn the power switch ON/OFF.
-
When the red (NOT READY) indicator light illuminates, the unit is operating. When the unit has reached the set temperature and all the coffee powder has been filtered, the unit will keep the coffee warm. The green (READY) indicator light, indicating that the unit is keeping warm, will light up and the red indicator light will go out. Then use the dispenser tap to pour the coffee.
-
If it is necessary to brew another batch of coffee, the machine and its parts must first be cooled and cleaned. Then repeat steps 1 to 5 above.
3.4. Cleaning and maintenance
a) Pull the mains plug and let the unit cool down completely before cleaning, adjusting or replacing accessories and when the unit is not in use.
b) Use only non-corrosive cleaning agents for cleaning the surfaces.
c) Only mild detergents designed for cleaning food contact surfaces may be used to clean the unit.
d) After each cleaning, all the parts should be dried well before the unit is used again.
e) Store the unit in a dry and cool place protected from moisture and direct sunlight.
f) Do not spray the unit with a stream of water or immerse it in water.
g) Make sure that no water enters through the ventilation openings in the casing.
h) Perform regular inspections of the unit checking technical fitness and any damages.
i) Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning.
j) Do not use sharp and/or metal objects (e.g. a wire brush or metal spatula) for cleaning, as these may damage the surface of the material from which the unit is made.
k) Carefully open the lid or pull out the internal parts to avoid injury.
I) A dishwasher can be used to clean the lid, filter basket, and parts of the percolator tube. To clean the percolator tube, remove the bottom end of the tube from the heating section. If the percolator tube is clogged by coffee powder, push the tube through with a thin rod or wooden stick and then rinse with water.
m) You can use the included accessories to clean:
- rod with brush - to clean the percolator tube and water level indicator,
- a cross - for removing sediments and limescale from the recess in the device at the lower end of the percolator tube.
