Operating Safety Precautions

  1. Extreme caution must be used when opening and closing the Lid on this unit. Use an oven mitt or potholder when opening and closing the Lid for additional safety.
  2. Check the Drip Tray frequently during cooking sessions to prevent overflow.
  3. The use of metal items, such as spatulas, is not recommended with this unit as they may damage the non-stick cooking surface.
  4. DO NOT store any objects in the appliance, such as cardboard, plastic, paper, etc.
  5. DO NOT cover any part of the appliance with metal foil.

Instructions for the Electrical Cord and Plug

  1. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

Best of all, there's no need for frying, saving you time and calories. There's no limit to the variety of dishes you can create using these tasty tortillas. Use your imagination and have fun!

HOW TO OPERATE

  1. Before first use, wipe down all surfaces with a dry, non-abrasive cloth.
  2. Find a dry, suitable, level surface near an electrical outlet.
  3. Coat the Cooking Surfaces with a small amount of vegetable oil. Vegetable oil can be applied with a paper towel or with a nonstick oil spray. The oil will help protect the nonstick quality of the cooking surface. This should be done periodically to maintain the nonstick quality.
  4. Preheat the appliance by closing the Lid and plugging into an electrical outlet.
  5. When the power is on, the Red Power Light will come on. The Green Ready Light will stay off while the appliance is preheating.
  6. The appliance should preheat for a minimum of 3 minutes. The Green Ready Light will turn on when the appliance is ready to cook.
  7. While the appliance is preheating, gather your tortillas.
  8. Carefully place an 8 inch tortilla on top of the preheated well in the Lower Cooking Surface. BE VERY CAREFUL as the Cooking Surfaces will be EXTREMELY HOT. Children should NEVER operate this appliance.
  9. Close the Lid using a pot holder or oven mitt. Make sure Lid is locked by closing latch. The tortilla will automatically be pressed inside the unit upon closing.

Steam may be released from appliance during cooking. For your safety, avoid contact with steam, as it is very hot and can cause burns.

  1. The cooking time will range between 1-3 minutes. Tortillas are done when crispy and golden brown.
  2. Once the tortilla has completed cooking, unlock and raise the Lid with a pot holder or oven mitt. Remove the tortilla from the Lower Cooking Surface with a plastic or wooden kitchen utensil. DO NOT use metal utensils, as they may scratch and damage the Cooking Surface.
  3. If cooking more than one tortilla in a session, lower the Lid in between baking to maintain heat until ready to cook the next tortilla.
  4. As soon as you are finished cooking, unplug appliance and allow to cool.
  5. Once the appliance is cool, follow the directions in the Cleaning and Maintenance section to clean your TORTILLA BOWL MAKER.

NEVER leave the unit unattended while operating.

Smoking

During first use, you may notice slight smoking or a slight odor; this is normal with most new appliances. The smoking and odor is caused by the residues burning off the nonstick Cooking Plates and the Heating Element. Allow the appliance to preheat until smoke and odor no longer exists.

Tortillas

You may use any variety of store bought tortillas in your TORTILLA SHELL MAKER, including yellow or white corn, flour, wheat flour or whole grain. The baking time may vary depending on the type of tortilla used.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

Please take care of your TORTILLA BOWL MAKER by following these simple instructions and precautions. Cleaning is a snap.

  • Disconnect from the electrical outlet by unplugging the appliance.
  • Make sure the appliance is cool before cleaning.
  • Wipe the Upper & Lower Cooking Surfaces with a damp, non-abrasive cloth or sponge and dry with a soft, non-abrasive towel.
  • Wipe the exterior of the Main Unit with a dry, non-abrasive cloth.
  • NEVER use scouring pads or abrasive cleaners on this unit as it will damage the surface and parts.
    DO NOT put any parts in the dishwasher.

TACO SALAD

2 Tortillas
- 14 Pound Lean Ground Beef
- 14 (1.25-oz.) Package Taco Seasoning Mix
1/4 (16-oz.) Can Chili Beans
- 14 (16-oz.) Bottle French Dressing
- 1/4 Cup Water
Head Iceberg Lettuce
- 12 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 14 Cup Tomatoes, chopped
- 1 Tbsp. Sour Cream
- 2 Tbsp. Prepared Salsa

Prepare two baked tortillas following the directions in the How to Operate section.

In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and drain excess fat.

Stir in the taco seasoning, chili beans and French dressing. Add 14 cup water to the skillet. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes.

Divide the lettuce, cheese and tomatoes evenly between each prepared tortilla shell. Top each with the fully cooked meat mixture. Add salsa and sour cream.

Serves two.

CHICKEN FAJITA TORTILLA SALAD

2 Tortillas
- 2 Tbsp. Canola Oil, divided
- 14 Cup Lime Juice
1 Garlic Clove, minced
- 1/2 Tsp. Ground Cumin
- 1/2 Tsp. Dried Oregano
- 12 Pound Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts, cut into thin strips
- 12 Medium Onion, cut into thin wedges
Medium Sweet Red Pepper, cut into thin strips
1 (4-oz.) Can Chopped Green Chiles
- Shredded lettuce
1 Large Tomato, cut into wedges
1 Small Ripe Avocado, peeled and sliced

Prepare two baked tortillas following the directions in the How to Operate section.

In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon oil, lime juice, garlic, cumin and oregano. Pour half in a large resealable plastic bag; add chicken. Seal bag and turn to coat. Marinate for a minimum of 30 minutes. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade.

In a large skillet, heat remaining 1 tablespoon oil on medium-high. Saute onion for 2-3 minutes or until tender.

Drain and discard marinade from chicken. Add chicken to skillet; stir-fry until meat is no longer pink.

Add the red pepper, chiles and reserved marinade; cook 2 minutes or until heated through.

Fill two prepared tortilla shells with lettuce. Add chicken and vegetable mixture. Top with tomatoes and avocado.

Serves two.

SHRIMP BOWL

1 Tortilla
- 1/2 Tbsp. Butter
- 14 Cup Sweet Onion, diced
1 Cup Cooked Rice
1 Pinch Garlic Powder
1 Pinch Cumin
1 Dash Cilantro
4-6 Cooked Shrimp, shelled and tails removed
- 2 Tbsp. Shredded Jack and Cheddar Cheese Blend

Prepare one baked tortilla following the directions in the How to Operate section.

Heat butter over medium heat in saucepan and saute onion until translucent.

Stir in rice and continue to cook until heated through.

Stir in spices.

Turn pan down to low, then add shrimp and cheese, stirring until cheese is melted.

Place cooked ingredients into baked tortilla bowl. Serves one.

SOUTHWEST CHILI BOWL

4 Tortillas
- 1 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil
1 Medium Green Bell Pepper, diced
1 Medium Bell Pepper, diced
- 14 Cup Red Onion, large diced
1 Pounds Ground Chuck
- 2 Tbsp. Chili Powder
1½ Tbsp. Ground Cumin
1 Clove Garlic, minced
1/4 Tsp. Cayenne Pepper
- 1 Tsp. Kosher Salt
- 12 Tsp. Ground Black Pepper
- 1/4 Tsp. Garlic Powder
- 2 Roma Tomatoes, diced
- 12 (15-oz.) Can Black Beans, drained and rinsed, optional
1 Tbsp. Chopped Fresh Cilantro Leaves

Prepare four baked tortillas following the directions in the How to Operate section.

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add peppers and onions and cook until slightly tender.

Add the ground chuck and spices and cook until browned. Skim off excess grease.

Add diced tomatoes and black beans (optional) and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Divide chili into four prepared tortilla bowls. Garnish with cilantro.

You may also top with shredded Cheddar or Jack cheese and sour cream.

  • 2 Cups Water

In a saucepan, combine the water, rice and lime juice. Bring to a boil.

1/3Cups Basmati Rice

  • Juice from 2 Limes

Reduce heat and simmer covered until all of the liquid is absorbed.

1 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter

In another saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Saute the onion and garlic until onions are translucent.

1 Small Onion, chopped

Add the canned tomatoes, beans and white wine.

2 Garlic Cloves, minced

Simmer until most of the moisture boils off.

1 (10-oz.) Can Diced Tomatoes with Green Chiles

Add rice to baked tortilla bowls. Top with tomato mixture. Add grilled pork.

1 (14-oz.) Can Black Beans, drained and rinsed

If desired, add shredded cheddar cheese, chopped cilantro, salsa or sour cream.

1 Tortilla
1 (8-oz.) Package Cream Cheese, softened
34 Tsp. Taco Seasoning Mix
1/3 Cup Salsa
1 (8-oz.) Package Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Prepare one baked tortilla following the directions in the How to Operate section.

In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, taco seasoning mix and salsa. Chill in refrigerator for 1 hour.

Spoon mixture into baked tortilla bowl. Top with shredded cheddar.

HUMMUS DIP

1 Tortilla
2 Cups Canned Garbanzo Beans, drained
1 / 3 Cup Tahini
- 14 Cup Lemon Juice
- 1 Tsp. Salt
2 Cloves Garlic, halved
1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
1 Pinch Paprika
1 Tsp. Fresh Parsley, minced

Prepare one baked tortilla following the directions in the How to Operate section.

Place the garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, salt and garlic in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.

Transfer mixture into baked tortilla bowl.

Drizzle olive oil over the garbanzo bean mixture. Sprinkle with paprika and parsley.

CHILI CHEESE DIP

3 Tortillas
- 12 Pound Ground Beef
- 12 Pound Ground Pork Sausage
- 2 Pounds Pasteurized Processed Cheese, cubed
1 (10-oz.) Can Diced Tomatoes with Green Chile Peppers, with liquid

Prepare three baked tortillas following the directions in the How to Operate section.

Place ground beef and ground pork sausage in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown.

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt cheese. Stir in diced tomatoes with green chili peppers while cheese is melting.

Drain ground beef and ground sausage. Mix into the cheese mixture.

Transfer dip to baked tortilla bowls and serve warm.

Makes 6 cups.

FRUIT SALSA

1 Flour Tortilla
Butter Flavored Cooking Spray
- Granulated Sugar, to taste
Ground Cinnamon, to taste
1 Kiwi, peeled and diced
1 Golden Delicious Apples, peeled, cored and diced
4-oz.Raspberries
- 12 Pound Strawberries
- 1 Tbsp. White Sugar
- 12 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
- 1 12 Tbsp. Fruit Preserves, any flavor

Coat one side of a flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Sprinkle with desired amount of cinnamon sugar. Spray again with cooking spray.

Bake the tortilla following the directions in the How to Operate section.

In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix kiwi, apple, raspberries, strawberries, white sugar, brown sugar and fruit preserves.

Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.

Transfer salsa to baked cinnamon-sugar tortilla bowl.

You may choose to bake additional cinnamon-sugar tortilla bowls and break into pieces for dipping.

DECADENT BERRY BANANA DESSERT

4 Flour Tortillas
1 (24-oz.) Package Chocolate-Flavored Candy Coating (almond bark)
- 2 Cup Fresh Strawberries, sliced
- 2 Cups Bananas, sliced
- 3/4 Cup Hot Fudge Ice Cream Topping
· 12 Tsp. Ground Cinnamon
- 12 Tsp. Vanilla
- 2 Cups Whipped Cream Topping
- 4 Mint Leaves, optional

Prepare four baked tortillas following the directions in the How to Operate section.

Melt chocolate candy coating as directed on package. Drizzle melted chocolate over baked tortilla bowls. Set aside and allow chocolate to harden, or refrigerate until ready to use.

In medium bowl, mix strawberries and bananas. Divide fruit evenly into tortilla bowls.

In small microwavable bowl, microwave fudge topping on High 30 to 45 seconds or until soft. Stir in cinnamon and vanilla.

Drizzle topping over fruit in tortilla bowls. Top with whipped cream; garnish with mint leaves. Serve immediately.

ICE CREAM SUNDAE

  • 1 Flour Tortilla
    Butter Flavored Cooking Spray
    Granulated Sugar, to taste
    Ground Cinnamon, to taste
  • 12 Cup Ice Cream, any flavor
  • Toppings (hot fudge, crushed peanuts, cherries)

Coat one side of a flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Sprinkle with desired amount of cinnamon sugar. Spray again with cooking spray.

APPLE CRISP BOWL

3 Flour Tortillas
Butter Flavored Cooking Spray
- 1 Tbsp. Granulated Sugar, or to taste
- 12 Tsp. Ground Cinnamon, or to taste
3-4 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 12 Tsp. Lemon Juice
1/8 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 Tsp. Cinnamon
- 1/2 Tbsp. Butter
· 12 Cup Flour
- 12 Cup Brown Sugar
- 14 Cup Butter
- Vanilla Ice Cream or Whipped Cream

Coat one side of a flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Sprinkle with desired amount of cinnamon sugar. Spray again with cooking spray.

Bake the tortilla following the directions in the How to Operate section.

Preheat oven to 350^

Toss apples with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. Coat a small casserole dish with cooking spray and pour apple mixture into dish.

1 (8-oz.) Package Cream Cheese
1/2 Cup White Sugar

Coat one side of a flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Sprinkle with desired amount of cinnamon sugar. Spray again with cooking spray.

Bake the tortilla following the directions in the How to Operate section.

In large bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and almond extract. Mix well.

In a medium bowl, whip cream until stiff peaks form. Fold whipped cream into cream cheese mixture.

Spoon into prepared cinnamon-sugar tortillas. Top with a spoonful of cherry pie filling.

Chill in refrigerator until serving.

Serves 8.

Nostalgia Products LLC (the "Company") hereby warrants that for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase, this product will be free of defects in material and workmanship under normal home use, provided that the product is operated and maintained in accordance with the operating instructions. As the sole and exclusive remedy under this warranty, the Company will at its discretion either repair or replace the product found to be defective, or issue a refund on the product during the warranty period. This warranty is only available to the original retail purchaser of the product from the date of initial retail purchase, and is only valid with the original sales receipt, as proof of purchase date is required to obtain warranty benefits. CONSERVEZ CES INSTRUCTIONS! INTRODUCTION

Prepare four baked tortillas following the directions in the How to Operate section.

  • 2 Cups Water

In a saucepan, combine the water, rice and lime juice. Bring to a boil.

1/3Cups Basmati Rice

Reduce heat and simmer covered until all of the liquid is absorbed.

  • Juice from 2 Limes

1 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter

In another saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Saute the onion and garlic until onions are translucent.

1 Small Onion, chopped

Add the canned tomatoes, beans and white wine.

2 Garlic Cloves, minced

Simmer until most of the moisture boils off.

1 (10-oz.) Can Diced Tomatoes with Green Chiles

Add rice to baked tortilla bowls. Top with tomato mixture. Add grilled pork.

1 (14-oz.) Can Black Beans, drained and rinsed

If desired, add shredded cheddar cheese, chopped cilantro, salsa or sour cream.

  • 1/4 Cup White Wine

Serves four.

  • 2 Cups Pork, grilled (optional)

QUICK & EASY FRESH SALSA

1 Tortilla

Combine chopped onions, garlic, green pepper and tomatoes in a bowl.

  • 2 Medium Tomatoes, chopped

Mix in fresh cilantro and salt. Add lime juice to taste.

1 Cup Onions, chopped

Refrigerate overnight.

6 Garlic Cloves, minced

Prepare one baked tortilla following the directions in the How to Operate section.

Stir salsa and pour into baked tortilla bowl.

  • 1 Tortilla

In a medium bowl, mash together the avocados, lime juice and salt.

  • 3 Avocados, peeled, pitted, and mashed

Mix in onion, cilantro, tomatoes, and garlic.

  • 1 Lime,juiced

Stir in cayenne pepper.

  • 1 Tsp. Salt

Refrigerate 1 hour.

3 Tbsp. Fresh Cilantro, chopped

Spoon guacamole into baked tortilla bowl.

  • 2 Roma Tomatoes, diced

TACO DIP

Prepare one baked tortilla following the directions in the How to Operate section.

1 (8-oz.) Package Cream Cheese, softened

In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, taco seasoning mix and salsa. Chill in refrigerator for 1 hour.

34 Tsp. Taco Seasoning Mix

Spoon mixture into baked tortilla bowl. Top with shredded cheddar.

1/3 Cup Salsa

Makes 2.5 cups.

1 (8-oz.) Package Shredded Cheddar Cheese

HUMMUS DIP

1 Tortilla

Prepare one baked tortilla following the directions in the How to Operate section.

2 Cups Canned Garbanzo Beans, drained

Place the garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, salt and garlic in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.

1 / 3 Cup Tahini

Transfer mixture into baked tortilla bowl.

  • 14 Cup Lemon Juice

Drizzle olive oil over the garbanzo bean mixture. Sprinkle with paprika and parsley.

  • 1 Tsp. Salt

Makes 2 cups.

1 Tbsp. Olive Oil

1 Pinch Paprika

1 Tsp. Fresh Parsley, minced

CHILI CHEESE DIP

3 Tortillas

Prepare three baked tortillas following the directions in the How to Operate section.

  • 12 Pound Ground Beef

Place ground beef and ground pork sausage in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown.

  • 12 Pound Ground Pork Sausage

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt cheese. Stir in diced tomatoes with green chili peppers while cheese is melting.

  • 2 Pounds Pasteurized Processed Cheese, cubed

Drain ground beef and ground sausage. Mix into the cheese mixture.

1 (10-oz.) Can Diced Tomatoes with Green Chile Peppers, with liquid

Transfer dip to baked tortilla bowls and serve warm.

FRUIT SALSA

1 Flour Tortilla

Coat one side of a flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Sprinkle with desired amount of cinnamon sugar. Spray again with cooking spray.

Butter Flavored Cooking Spray

Bake the tortilla following the directions in the How to Operate section.

Granulated Sugar, to taste

In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix kiwi, apple, raspberries, strawberries, white sugar, brown sugar and fruit preserves.

Ground Cinnamon, to taste

Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.

1 Kiwi, peeled and diced

Transfer salsa to baked cinnamon-sugar tortilla bowl.

1 Golden Delicious Apples, peeled, cored and diced

You may choose to bake additional cinnamon-sugar tortilla bowls and break into pieces for dipping.

4-oz.Raspberries

Serves 5.

  • 12 Pound Strawberries
  • 1 Tbsp. White Sugar
  • 12 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
  • 112 Tbsp. Fruit Preserves, any flavor

DECADENT BERRY BANANA DESSERT

4 Flour Tortillas
1 (24-oz.) Package Chocolate-Flavored Candy Coating (almond bark)
- 2 Cup Fresh Strawberries, sliced
- 2 Cups Bananas, sliced
- 3/4 Cup Hot Fudge Ice Cream Topping
· 12 Tsp. Ground Cinnamon
- 12 Tsp. Vanilla
- 2 Cups Whipped Cream Topping
- 4 Mint Leaves, optional

Prepare four baked tortillas following the directions in the How to Operate section.

Melt chocolate candy coating as directed on package. Drizzle melted chocolate over baked tortilla bowls. Set aside and allow chocolate to harden, or refrigerate until ready to use.

In medium bowl, mix strawberries and bananas. Divide fruit evenly into tortilla bowls.

In small microwavable bowl, microwave fudge topping on High 30 to 45 seconds or until soft. Stir in cinnamon and vanilla.

Drizzle topping over fruit in tortilla bowls. Top with whipped cream; garnish with mint leaves. Serve immediately.

Serves 4.

ICE CREAM SUNDAE

  • 1 Flour Tortilla
    Butter Flavored Cooking Spray
    Granulated Sugar, to taste
    Ground Cinnamon, to taste
  • 12 Cup Ice Cream, any flavor
  • Toppings (hot fudge, crushed peanuts, cherries)
