Yellow triangular warning sign with black exclamation mark symbolPlease note the included General Safety Notes and the following safety notes to avoid malfunctions, damage or physical injury:

- Dispose of used packaging material carefully or store it out of the reach of children. There is a danger of suffocation!
- Make sure the voltage corresponds to the type label on the machine.
- Only use this straight grinder for domestic purposes. The machine is not designed for continuous, professional use.
- Only use this machine according to this instruction manual and for the intended use. The unit is intended for using as a grinder, carving machine, polisher or wire brush. Read all safety instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
- Persons with limited physical, sensorial or mental abilities are not allowed to use the machine, unless they are supervised and briefed for their safety by a qualified person.
- Never leave the straight grinder unsupervised when it is switched on. Keep it out of reach of children or persons in need of supervision. The straight grinder is not a toy.
- Wear personal protective equipment. Always wear safety goggles to protect the eyes when using the straight grinder. Wear hearing protection to protect the ears. Wear safety gloves when using the straight grinder to protect the hands.
- Wear suitable clothing. Synthetic materials may be damaged by flying sparks. Do not use this machine close to combustible materials. These materials may be ignited by flying sparks.
-
Never move the machine by pulling the cord. Make sure the cord cannot get caught in any way. Do not wind the cord around the machine and do not bend it. Please note the included General Safety Notes and the following safety notes to avoid malfunctions, damage or physical injury: Safety Notes 7
-
Do not use the straight grinder when the power cord has been damaged. Have the power cord replaced by a professional or contact our customer service.
- Keep the power cable away from rotating parts.
- Pull the power plug from the power socket when the straight grinder is not in use, when cleaning it, before changing the grinding disc or when maintaining the unit.
- Only use the straight grinder indoors and protect it from humidity and liquids of all kinds.
- Only use original replacement parts.
- The arbour size of wheels, sanding drum or any other tool must properly fit the collet of the machine. Tools that do not match properly will run out of balance, vibrate excessively and may cause loss of control. Just because the tool can be attached to the machine, it does not assure safe operation. Use only wheel types for the recommended applications (e.g. do not grind with the side of a cut-off disc).
- The rated speed of the tool must be at least equal to the maximum speed marked on the machine. Tools running faster than their rated speed can break and fly apart.
- Mandrel mounted wheels, sanding drums, cut-off disc or other tools must be fully inserted into the collet. The “overhang” or the length of the mandrel from the wheel to the collet must be minimal (at least 8 mm), otherwise the mounted wheel may become loose and ejected at high velocity.
- Always hold the machine firmly during the start-up. The reaction torque of the motor, as it accelerates to full speed, can cause the machine to twist. 8 mm
- After changing the tools or making any adjustments, make sure the collet is securely tightened. Loose tools can cause loss of control. Run the machine at maximum no-load speed for one minute. Damaged tools will normally break apart during this test time.
- Do not touch the grinding disc and the workpiece directly after use as they might be very hot.
- Only use this straight grinder for dry grinding. Do not use tools that require liquid coolants. Using water or other liquid coolants may result in electrocution or shock.
- If possible secure the workpiece.
- Never lay the machine down until the tool has come to a complete stop. Never try to stop the tool by hand.
-
Do not run the machine while carrying it at the side.
■ Regularly clean the ventilation slots of the machine. -
Use special care when working corners, sharp edges, etc. Avoid bouncing and snagging the tool.
- Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged rotating wheel, backing pad, brush or any other tool. Pinching or snagging causes rapid stalling of the rotating tool which in turn causes the uncontrolled machine to be forced in the direction opposite of the tool's rotation at the point of the binding.
- Do not attach a thin toothed saw blade. Such blades create frequent kickback and loss of control.
- Corners, sharp edges or bouncing have a tendency to snag the rotating tool.
- Always feed the tool into the material in the same direction as the cutting edge is exiting from the material (which is the same direction as the chips are thrown). Feeding the machine in the wrong direction causes the cutting edge of the tool to climb out of the work and pull the machine in the direction of this feed. Safety Notes 9
- Be aware that wire bristles are thrown by the brush even during ordinary operation. Do not overstress the wires by applying excessive load to the brush. The wire bristles can easily penetrate light clothing and/or skin.
- Should the machine become damaged do not use it any further and have it repaired by a professional or contact our customer service. Do not disassemble the machine or try repairing it.
- The unit is intended for use up to 2000 m above sea level.
