How to turn the computer on and off?

To turn on, press the Power button located at the top left of the keyboard. To turn off, use the normal Windows procedure (Start > Shut down) or hold the button for a few seconds in case of a freeze.

What to do if the touchpad stops working?

Check that the touchpad is not disabled. Press the Fn + F7 key combination (or the key with a touchpad icon) to enable or disable it. If the problem persists, restart the computer.

How to connect the computer to a Wi-Fi network?

Make sure Wi-Fi is enabled via the Fn + F3 key or the dedicated button. Click the network icon in the taskbar, select your network, enter the password, and connect.

The battery doesn't hold a charge. What to do?

Check the battery status via the indicator light: orange when charging, blue when full. If it discharges too quickly, replace it (it is removable). Refer to the guide for removal.

How to change screen brightness?

Use the Fn + up arrow keys to increase brightness and Fn + down arrow keys to decrease it. You can also adjust in Windows power settings.

Sound doesn't work. What to check?

Make sure the volume is not muted with the Fn + F8 key (or speaker key) and that the system volume is adequate. Also check that speakers are not disabled in the sound control panel.

How to use the built-in numeric keypad?

Enable Num Lock with the Fn + F11 key (or Num Lock key). The central keys will then act as a numeric keypad. Disable it to return to letters.

How to reset the computer to factory settings?

At startup, press Alt + F10 to launch the Acer recovery tool. Follow the on-screen instructions. Warning: this erases all personal data.

Where to find the computer's serial number?

The serial number is usually on a label stuck under the computer. It can also be displayed in the BIOS (press F2 at startup) or in Windows system information.

How to clean the screen without damaging it?

Use a microfiber cloth slightly dampened with plain water or a special screen cleaner. Do not apply liquid directly to the screen. Wipe gently without pressing.

First off, the setup poster helps you get started with setting up your computer.

The Aspire One Series Generic User Guide contains useful information applying to all models in the Aspire One product range. It covers basic topics such as Acer's eRecovery Management, using the keyboard, audio, etc. Please understand that due to its nature, the Generic User Guide as well as the AcerSystem User Guide will occasionally refer to functions or features which are only contained in certain models, but not necessarily in the model you have purchased. Such instances are marked in the text with language such as "only for certain models".

The Quick Guide introduces you to the basic features and functions of your new computer. For more on how your computer can help you to be more productive, please refer to the AcerSystem User Guide, which contains detailed information on such subjects as system utilities, data recovery, expansion options and troubleshooting. In addition it contains warranty information and the general regulations and safety notices for your notebook. It is available in Portable Document Format (PDF) and comes preloaded on your notebook. Follow these steps to access it:

Note: Viewing the file requires Adobe Reader. If Adobe Reader is not installed on your computer, clicking on AcerSystem User Guide will run the Adobe Reader setup program first. Hotkeys

The computer employs hotkeys or key combinations to access most of the computer's controls like screen brightness and volume output.

To activate hotkeys, press and hold the key before pressing the other key in the hotkey combination.

	+	Num Lock	When Num Lock is on, the embedded keypad is in numeric mode. The keys function as a calculator (complete with the arithmetic operators +, -, *, and /). Use this mode when you need to do a lot of numeric data entry. A better solution would be to connect an external keypad.+only for certain models.
	+	Scroll Lock	When Scroll Lock is on, the screen moves one line up or down when you press the up or down arrow keys respectively. Scroll Lock does not work with some applications.
	+		Brightness up Increases the screen brightness.
	+ <		Decreases the screen brightness.
	+ <		Volume up Increases the sound volume (only for certain models).
	+ <		Volume down Decreases the sound volume (only for certain models).

Using the communication key*

Here you can enable and disable the various wireless connectivity devices on your computer.

Press + to bring up the Launch Manager window panel.

A red toggle indicates the device is off. Click On to enable wireless/Bluetooth connection. Click Off to disable connection.
