Frequently Asked Questions - G0069240 Generac

How to start the Generac G0069240 pressure washer?
Ensure the oil and fuel levels are correct, the water supply is connected, and the fuel valve is open. Set the choke to CLOSED (for a cold start), the throttle lever to FULL, and the engine switch to ON. Depressurize the gun, then pull the starter cord slowly until you feel resistance, then pull quickly. Once started, gradually open the choke.
What engine oil to use and how to check the level?
Use a detergent oil of grade SJ or higher, with viscosity suitable for temperature: SAE 30 in hot weather, 10W-30 in cold weather (below 10°C, prefer 5W-30). Place the machine on a level surface, remove the dipstick, wipe it, reinsert it, then remove it again: the level should be between the L and H marks.
How to apply detergent with this washer?
Use only the black nozzle (detergent nozzle). Immerse the filter of the siphon tube into the detergent solution. Start the engine, apply detergent to a dry surface from bottom to top. After use, rinse the system by placing the tube in clean water and running the machine for 1 to 2 minutes.
Why is the pressure low or uneven?
Possible causes: low-pressure nozzle installed, water inlet clogged, insufficient water supply (flow < 3.8 GPM or pressure < 30 PSI), kinked supply hose, clogged strainer, water temperature > 38°C, high-pressure hose clogged or leaking, clogged nozzle, or faulty pump. Check each point and clean or replace defective parts.
How to maintain the pump of the washer?
For Triplex pumps, drain the oil every 50 hours and replace with non-detergent SAE 30 or 10W-40 oil. Axial cam pumps are maintenance-free: do not attempt to drain. Regularly check the inlet strainer and clean it.
What to do if the engine does not start or stops during operation?
Check the oil level (low oil shutdown), fuel (fresh gasoline), air filter condition (clean it), spark plug (replace if worn), spark plug wire (properly connected). Ensure the choke is not left in the closed position. If the problem persists, contact a Generac authorized dealer.
How to rinse the machine after each use?
Turn off the engine and water supply. Point the gun in a safe direction and squeeze the trigger to release pressure. Disconnect hoses, drain them, and wipe down components. Pull the starter cord six times to purge the pump. Close the fuel valve. Store in a clean, dry place.
How to store the pressure washer for a long period?
Add a fuel stabilizer to the tank, run the engine for 2 minutes, then let it cool. Drain the engine oil. For the pump, use Generac Pump Shield to protect against freezing. If you don't have it, pour recreational vehicle antifreeze into the system. Store the unit in a dry, frost-free place.
Which nozzles to use for which type of cleaning?
Red: high pressure for tough surfaces (paint, rust). Yellow: medium pressure for driveways and patios. Green: general use (driveways, decks). White: delicate washing (cars, boats). Black: detergent application only.
How to clean a clogged nozzle?
Turn off the engine and water supply. Release pressure from the gun. Remove the nozzle from the wand. Use a paper clip to remove debris from the opening. Remove the wand from the gun and backflush it. Reassemble everything, then test the machine.
