General safety instructions

WARNING! Read all the safety instructions – general instructions, illustrations and technical data – provided with this power tool. If you do not abide by the safety instructions, this might cause an electric shock, fire and/or serious injuries.
WARNING: Turn off the power when not in use.
WARNING: Always unplug the power cable from the wall socket when not using the unit, when you change the nozzles, or when doing maintenance.
The term “power tool” used in the safety instructions refers to mains-operated power tools (with power cable) and to battery-powered power tools (without power cable).

When using electric tools, the safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury.

This device operates at a temperature of 600 degrees with no visible signs of this temperature (no flames); however, there is still a risk of fire. Watch out for the hot air stream leaving the nozzle. The hot air stream can cause burns.
This device can be used by children aged 8 years or older as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge provided that they are being supervised or have been trained in the safe use of the device and understand the
hazards that might occur. Children must never be allowed to play with the device. Cleaning and maintenance is not to be undertaken by children without adult supervision.
Keep these safety instructions in a safe place!
1. Work area
a) Keep your working area clean and well-lit. An untidy or unlit work area can lead to accidents.
b) Never use the power tool in a potentially explosive atmosphere where there are flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools generate sparks that can ignite the dust or vapours.
c) Keep children and other people well away when using the power tool. Any distraction may cause you to lose control of the device.
2. Electrical safety
a) The plug of the power tool must fit in the socket. The plug must not be modified in any way. Do not use adapter plugs together with electrically grounded power tools. Using unmodified plugs and appropriate sockets will reduce the risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid bodily contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electrical shock when your body is earthed.
c) Do not leave the unit out in the rain or in wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not use the connecting cable to carry the power tool, hanging it up or for unplugging the power tool from the socket. Keep the connecting cable well away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cables increase the risk of electric shock.
e) Only use extension cables that are suitable for outdoor use if you intend to use a power tool outdoors. Using an extension cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If using the power tool in a damp location becomes unavoidable, use an RCD (Residual Current Device) circuit breaker. Using an RCD circuit breaker reduces the risk of an electric shock.
3. Safety of persons
a) Be careful, ensure that you know what you are doing and use common sense when working with a power tool. Do not use a power tool when you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of carelessness when using the power tool can cause serious injury.
b) Always wear personal protective equipment as well as safety goggles. Wearing personal protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, hard hat or ear protectors, depending on the type and use of the power tool, reduces the risk of injury.
c) Prevent an unintentional start-up. Make sure that the power tool is off before connecting it to the power supply and/or the battery pack, picking it up or carrying it. If you have your finger on the switch when using the power tool or if you plug the tool into the mains while it is on, this may cause an accident.
d) Remove the adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A tool or key inserted in a rotating part of the power tool can cause injuries.
e) Avoid an abnormal posture. Ensure that you are standing firm and keep your balance at all times. This means you can control the power tool better in unexpected situations.
f) Always wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair may get caught in the moving parts.
g) If dust extraction and collection units can also be attached, they must be connected and used correctly. Using a dust extractor can reduce dust hazards.
h) Do not be lulled into a false sense of safety and do not ignore the safety rules for power tools, even if you are familiar with the power tool after using it many times. Careless handling can cause serious injuries within a fraction of a second.
4. Careful handling and use of power tools
a) Do not overload the power tool. Use the appropriate power tool for your work. With the appropriate power tool you work better and safer in the specified power range.
b) Never use a power tool that has a defective switch. A power tool that cannot be turned on or off is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Pull the plug out of the socket and/or remove the battery before you change the device's settings, replace parts or store the tool. This precaution prevents the unintentional start-up of the power tool.
d) Store power tools that are not in use well out of the reach of children. Do not allow people who are unfamiliar with these instructions or who have not read them to use the power tool. Power tools are dangerous when used by inexperienced people.
e) Maintain the power tool and operating tools with care. Check that the tool's moving parts are working properly and do not jam, that no parts are broken or damaged in such a way that the power tool cannot be used correctly. Have the damaged parts repaired before using the power tool. Many accidents are caused by badly-maintained power tools.
f) Use the power tool, its accessories and attachments, etc. according to these instructions. Take into account the working conditions and the work to be done. Use of the power tool for purposes other than those intended can result in hazardous situations.
h) Keep handles and gripping surfaces dry, clean and free of any oil or grease. Slippery handles and gripping surfaces will not allow safe operation or controlling the power tool in unforeseen situations.
5. Service
a) Have your power tool repaired by specialist personnel and only use original spare parts. This is to ensure the safety of the power tool.

Operation
Using the tool

Use with caution! Do not cover the vent openings during use.
There is a risk of burns! Never touch the hot nozzle!
Switch the device on:
- Switch on the tool by pressing the ON/OFF switch (4).
Switch the device off:
- Switch off the machine by releasing the ON/OFF switch (4).
Fitting the nozzle:
The conical nozzle (9) can be easily slid over the hot air nozzle. Never touch the hot air nozzle directly after using the device. The hot air nozzle gets very hot.
Starting-up
First use:
• Always ensure that the tool is switched off.
- Slide a loop of the extension cable into the strain reliever in the handle, and secure it in the support provided.
• Fit the conical nozzle (9) to kill weeds.
- Use an extension cable to connect the tool to a power socket.
- Check that the nozzle is not blocked before you turn on the power.
- Switch on the tool by pressing the ON/OFF switch (4).
- Wait about 1 minute for the power tool to warm up.
- Kill the weeds by holding the nozzle (9) over the weeds for about 5 seconds. The cell structure of the weeds is destroyed during these 5 seconds. This will result in the weeds dying within a few days.
- It is not necessary to burn the weeds completely, a few seconds are enough.
- For an efficient treatment, the nozzle should be kept 0 – 5 cm above the weeds.
• In addition, we point out that as a weed killer the E-Bio-gardener cannot achieve an immediately visible effect, but a so-called long-term effect.
Warning! Ensure that the connecting cable does not come into contact with heat, oil or sharp edges. Damaged leads can cause fires, short circuits and electrical shock.
Switching off:
- Release the ON/OFF switch (4).
• After use, always position the tool so that its stand (6) is on a flat, fireproof surface and allow the hot parts to cool down completely.
