Open the printer cover, use a soft lint-free cloth slightly dampened to wipe the exposure plate. Do not touch the print head. Close the cover.

How do I remove the alert message asking to remove the waste paper box if it is empty?

Response Notice-Facile

On the Epson SureLab SL-D1000 printer, the waste paper box collects the scraps of paper cut during printing on roll paper. The printer has a detection system to monitor the filling of this box and displays an alert when it is time to empty it. If you receive an alert message while the box is empty or insufficiently filled, it is possible that the sensor is malfunctioning.

Sensor reset procedure:

  • Make sure the printer's power light is on (and not blinking).
  • Locate the waste paper box on the right side of the printer.
  • Remove the waste paper box by pulling it forward until it clicks.
  • Once the box is removed, the status light blinks: this is normal.
  • Reinsert the waste paper box completely until you hear a locking click.
  • Wait a few seconds and check that the status light turns off.

This action resets the filling sensor. If the alert message disappears, the issue was a simple desynchronization of the sensor.

Checking the alert threshold:

If you do not want to be alerted so frequently, you can adjust the alert threshold via the control panel menu. Go to Settings > Paper Settings > Remaining Alert and set the numeric value according to your preferences.

If the problem persists:

The waste paper box sensor may be defective. This can also happen if the sensor remains dirty. In this case, you can try gently cleaning the sensor (box insertion area) with a dry cloth. If the message continues to appear despite removal-reinsertion and after resetting, contact Epson technical support or an authorized dealer for sensor replacement or technical assistance.
