Please read these instructions carefully and keep for future use. When forwarding this unit to third parties, this information for use is also to be handed over.

The sera internal filters F 400/700/1200 adjustable with sponge filter convince due to their compact and robust construction as well as their low energy consumption and their adjustability. These F series internal filters are being offered in 3 power levels with the sera aquarium pumps PRECISION P 400/700/1200. The correct power level is available for nano aquariums up to 300 l (80 US gal.) aquarium. Due to their plain design, the sera internal filters F 400/700/1200 adjustable can be placed unobtrusively in the aquarium. The high circulation performance ensures constant conditions in the aquarium and thus contributes to the stabilization of the biological system.

SAFETY PRECAUTION

All electrical units located in the water must be disconnected from the mains/power supply before conducting work at the aquarium!

The sera internal filter F consists of:

Application and application range

First, push the bracket with the four suction cups (G) onto the chamfered side of the housing (A). Push the thick end of the black regulation adapter (D) onto the water intake of the motor cover (C). Then push the thinner end of the perforated water intake pipe (E) into the regulation adapter. Now slide the sera filter sponge (F) over the perforated water intake pipe until it touches the housing, and turn it until it is in line with the housing. The sera internal filter F adjustable is now ready to use.

Adjustment of pump performance:

Install the filter in its final position in the aquarium. Push the plug into the socket and check that the pump performance meets your requirements. If it does not, pull the plug and take the filter out of the aquarium. Slide the filter sponge back slightly to allow access to the regulation adapter. To change the pump's performance, turn the regulation adapter to a new direction. Then slide the filter sponge back into position. Repeat this procedure until you have found the optimal flow rate of the filter.

Only sera internal filter F 1200 adjustable:

The current distributor that can be pushed onto the outlet tube of the sera internal filter F 1200 adjustable allows to adjust the water flow direction. Using the Venturi nozzle allows optimizing the oxygen supply of the aquarium. The air intake can be adjusted with the valve (H).

Cleaning

When a loss of performance is noticed, remove the filter sponge and coarsely rinse it under lukewarm water.

To clean the impeller (B) the motor cover must be removed. Carefully pull the outlet nozzle forward, which flips the motor cover off the housing. Rinse the parts under running water. Use a soft, clean brush to remove deposits or algae if necessary. Reassemble the filter. Add beneficial filter bacteria (sera bio nitrivec) onto the filter sponge to immediately make the filter biologically active again!

Location

The pump should be placed at the aquarium glass and be operated completely submerged. Avoid the pump drawing in air as well.

Maintenance

The mechanical components of the sera internal filters F 400/700/1200 adjustable can largely be taken apart and replaced. The motor block is cast in resin for electric insulation and therefore cannot be repaired.

Replacing the running unit

Gently pull at the outlet nozzle to do so, thus flapping the pump cover off the housing. Take the running unit out. The shaft cannot be taken out in the F 400 and F 700 models. The running unit of the sera internal filter F 1200 is firmly connected to the shaft and therefore can only be replaced entirely.

Assembly takes place in reverse order. Attention! The rotor can abruptly turn and be drawn in when inserting it into the motor block.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

- Please make sure the frequency and the voltage of the mains supply equal those on the type plate before using the unit.

- Operate unit only with an inserted fault current protection switch (RCD or FI with a trip current of 30 mA).

- Always protect the mains plug against moisture and bend the power cable into a drip loop as to prevent water getting into the mains socket.

- Do not lift nor carry electric devices by their mains cord.

- Pump must never be operated without water.

- The sera internal filter F must only be operated completely submersed.

- In case of damage to the housing, power cord, or plug, the unit must be disconnected from the mains supply immediately.

- Further operation is not permitted. Damages to the housing or the power cord must not be repaired. Replacement of the power cord is not permitted.

- The maximum temperature of the liquid to be pumped must not exceed 35^ C ( 95^ F).

Disposal of the unit:

Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) must not get into domestic waste!

If ever the unit cannot be used anymore, the consumer is legally obliged to hand in waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) separately from domestic waste, e.g. at a collection point of his community/his district. This ensures that waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is expertly processed and that negative effects to the environment are avoided.

Manufacturer warranty:

When following the directions for use, the adjustable sera internal filters F will perform reliably. We are liable for the freedom from faults of our products for 2 years beginning with the purchase date.

We are liable for complete flawlessness at delivery. Should usual wear and tear occur by use as intended by us, this is not considered a defect. Warranty claims are also excluded in this case. This particularly refers to the running unit (rotor with shaft). Legal claims are of course not reduced or limited by this warranty. Please note the additional warranty information (*).

Recommendation:

In every case of a defect, please first consult the specialized retailer where you purchased the unit. He will be able to judge whether it is actually a warranty case. In case of sending the unit to us we will unnecessarily have to charge you for occurring costs.

Any liability because of contract breach is limited to intent or gross negligence. sera will be liable in case of slight negligence only in case of injuries to life, body and health, in case of essential contractual obligations and with binding liability according to the product liability code. In that case, the extent of liability is limited to the replacement of contractually typically foreseeable damages.

The pumps may only be used in freshwater. Warranty will be void in case of operation in corrosive liquids etc.

Important warranty addendum (*):

• Impeller units that are worn, broken or stuck due to lime deposits are a direct consequence of insufficient maintenance or improper treatment. These and all subsequent damages are not covered by the warranty. Often, these damages cannot be repaired.
• Broken rotor wings are caused by gravel or other larger, hard particles that have been sucked into the unit. These damages are not covered by warranty.
• Damage to the power/mains cord, will not be repaired by the manufacturer due to safety reasons. (Reason: Moisture that has gotten into the cable often leads to corrosion and short-circuits in the motor later on.) Replacing the complete cable is not possible. The pump must be discarded.
• Any damages of the cable are excluded from warranty.
