WARNING! Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Safety Rules for Corded Power Supply

DANGER: High voltage present inside the unit. Probe with conductive objects. Danger of electric shock or electrocution.

DANGER: If the corded power supply case is used or damaged, do not plug into AC outlet or insert into tool. Return the unit to an authorized DEWALT service center. Danger of electric shock or electrocution.

DANGER: The corded power supply and power may produce a small magnetic field. Users with cardiac pacemakers should keep the corded power supply and power tool at least 6^ (15 cm) away from implanted device. Users should immediately stop using this product, remove power, and call physician if any physical effects are felt.

  • Do not use under wet conditions or in presence of flammable liquids or gases.
  • Do not expose corded power supply to rain or snow.
  • Use of an attachment not recommended or sold by DEWALT may result in a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • This corded power supply is not intended for any uses other than powering DEWALT 120 V Max* FLEXVOLT™ tools. Any other uses may result in risk of fire, electric shock or electrocution.
  • Pull by the plug rather than the cord when disconnecting the corded power supply. This will reduce the risk of damage to the electric plug and cord.
  • Make sure that the cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over or otherwise subjected to damage or stress.
  • Do not use an extension cord unless it is absolutely necessary. Use of improper extension cord could result in risk of fire, electric shock or electrocution.
  • When operating the corded power supply outdoors, always provide a dry location and use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
  • An extension cord must have adequate wire size (AWG or American Wire Gauge) for safety. The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the greater the capacity of the cable, that is, 16 gauge has more capacity than 18 gauge. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. When using more than one extension to make up the total length, be sure each individual extension contains at least the

minimum wire size. The following table shows the correct size to use depending on cord length and nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge. The lower the gauge number, the heavier the cord.

OPERATION

WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, turn unit off and disconnect it from power source before making any adjustments or removing/installing attachments or accessories.

An accidental start-up can cause injury.

The DCA120 DEWALT corded power supply is designed to provide power for DEWALT 120 V Max* FLEXVOLT™ cordless tools.

Your DEWALT corded power supply should only be used with standard household 120 V AC, 50/60 Hz power and not with DC power sources.

The DCA120 corded power supply is suitable for use with both grounded and double insulated 120 V Max* FLEXVOLT™ cordless tools. When the power supply is utilized with a grounded tool, the tool inlet will be equipped with a ground prong that allows the ground path from the tool to connect to the power supply. When the power supply is utilized in a double insulated tool, the tool inlet will not contain a ground prong and no ground connection will be made from the tool to the power supply as double insulated tools are not required to have a ground connection.

Additional Specific Usage Instructions

The corded power supply may become warm to the touch during use. This is a normal condition and does not indicate a problem.

IMPORTAnT: The power supply is not user serviceable. There are no user serviceable parts inside the power supply.

Installing and Removing the Cored Power Supply into and from Tool (Fig. A-D)

Before inserting the corded power supply into your tool, remove the end of the dust cover (4 Fig. B) from the tool's corded power supply receptacle, if applicable. Pull the dust cover away from the tool's corded power supply receptacle so that it does not interfere with insertion of the corded power supply. Inspect the tool's corded power supply receptacle for debris. Debris inside the receptacle can prevent the corded power supply from fully seating. If debris is present, clean it using low pressure air. Refer to tool manual.

WARNING: To minimize the risk of eye injury, always wear ANSI Z87.1 approved eye protection and respiratory protection when performing this procedure.

NOTICE: The corded power supply is for AC power sources only when used with a tool. Use with DC power sources could result in damage to the tool.

To install the corded power supply into your tool: With the corded power supply unplugged, align its AC connector (1, Fig. A) with the tool's corded power supply receptacle (5, Fig. B) then snap into place. Ensure that it is fully seated in the tool and does not disengage.

If applicable, attach the dust cover 4 to the dust cover holder (6, Fig. C) in the corded power supply. Secure the cord clip 3 into the tool's cord holder (7, Fig. D), if applicable. Firmly press the clip into the holder.

With the tool turned off, plug the corded power supply into a standard 120 V household electric power outlet. Do not attempt to use the corded power supply on any other voltage.

Use the tool according to the tool instructions, making sure the cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage or stress.

To remove the corded power supply from the tool (Fig. B), first unplug the corded power supply from the outlet, then press the release button 2 and firmly pull the corded power supply out of the tool. If applicable, firmly press the end of the dust cover 4 into the tool's corded power supply receptacle 5.
